Introduction
Kyle and Adrianne went through college together and hardly noticed each other, at least until their senior year. Ironically, they shared their final semester courses together. They began studying together and, after studies, spending a lot of after-school time together.
Adrianne graduated as a neurobiologist and went right to work for a government pharmaceutical lab dealing with chemical warfare experiments. Kyle graduated with a degree in criminal psychology, specializing with investigation. Following three generations of family members, Kyle went into the USMC before retiring and then moving on to the Central Intelligence Agency.
The couple continued to date after college. Soon after, they were married and moved to a small town close to Washington, DC, and their work. In the first years of marriage, Kyle and Adrianne attempted several times to have children. All the doctors told them Adrianne simply could not get pregnant, and if she did, it could be fatal for her. This was devastating for the couple. Deeply in love, they vowed somehow, some way they would have a child together.
Fortunately for them, the timing was good. The CIA had bigger plans for Kyle. With tensions rising in the Middle East, the media broadcasting internationally about the torture tactics the United States Military, his skills were needed overseas. Kyle specialized in torture tactics that were a little unorthodox but seldom noted by news media. Kyle had an excellent record for cracking the hardest of international criminals. From spies to terrorists, he could crack them and get the information he needed. Many times he would be used as a sniper to get in and out of a country quickly with blame being placed on a particular terrorist group and the CIA being completely unsuspected.
When Adrianne finally became pregnant, it was great news. Kyle was thrilled. The CIA did all they could to keep him stateside, but tensions were high in the Middle East. His incredible skill was in high demand all over the world. When Kyle was home, even though his mind was on the battlefield, he was completely consumed by being a father and husband. Adrianne continued work but on a limited schedule.
When Adrianne was stricken with terminal cancer, it devastated Kyle. His daughter was only six; he had no idea how to raise a little girl into a woman like her mother. His career was at a high point, and now he had to return to the States to become a single parent to a little girl who was truly a miracle child. The CIA had no choice now but to either bring him back home or lose him from the agency. Adrianne insisted the girl’s name would be Grace, because of God’s amazing grace, she said.
Grace grew into a beautiful young woman, a full image of her mother. She loved her mother, and Kyle had kept her memory alive through her entire life. Grace wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps in neurobiology. She received a scholarship to the same school her mother graduated from.
While at college, a serial rapist was on a rampage. Grace became a victim to the rapist. By now Kyle had retired from the agency and dedicated every resource he had ever experienced into finding this psycho. He vowed when he found him that he would unleash every torture tactic he had ever practiced during his career until he begged for his death. Follow Kyle on this journey of revenge as a father and soldier teaches this villain a lesson.
Chapter One
K yle, Kyle, honey, get up. You have to leave for your assignment in a couple of hours, and you haven’t even taken a shower yet.
Just like this one, it was not uncommon for Kyle’s assignments to be out of the country. Kyle slowly dragged himself out of bed and got ready. It usually took about two hours to go to headquarters and get the debriefing on the mission and then head for the departure point. Training for this mission had gone on for months prior to that day. With him being with the agency, this could mean a number of different locations. Because of the danger of revealing the mission, Kyle usually had to fly into an ally country a few weeks in advance to get in and then get into position for his mission.
Just as scheduled, Kyle was up and rushed off to the agency headquarters. There, a briefing about his mission took place in the control room. Kyle seldom ever knew what the mission was about until he got to the control room, but this time was different. It was pretty much common knowledge that the United States was going to Kuwait, but it was not publicized what the objective would be. Once Kyle went off the radar, it was up to him to report back to the agency. It would be far too dangerous for them to attempt to reach him while behind enemy lines. It was always understood between him and Adrianne that if the agency ever pulled him in from a mission because of a home emergency, he always said, Someone better be dying.
Although she never knew complete details, Adrianne always knew the dangers of Kyle’s job, but never was it as clear as now, when he was flying into a very hostile combat zone. If anything ever happened at home, she could contact his supervisor, and they could get someone on the inside and pull him out without blowing his cover. However, this mission was different. Kyle had prepared Adrianne for this mission, explaining to her several times that once he infiltrated the country, even the agency couldn’t get to him to pull him out. He really would be off the radar this time, days, weeks, even months, as he explained.
Kyle trained intensely for months in Washington while never being allowed to leave the agency to contact anyone. Training could include physical tortures, electrical tortures, mind-altering drugs, mental fatigue, and even starvation. It was the agency’s way of finding out the limitations of their agents. Kyle carried the highest honors over any other agent. He prided himself in being able to control his mind more intently than anyone else had ever recorded.
After only two weeks of being underground in the Washington, DC, camp, Kyle’s boss came to
