Set against the backdrop of a captivating holiday destination, our story introduces us to two unlikely protagonists—an aging man and a young woman—whose lives intersect in the most unexpected of ways. Their paths cross purely by chance, but what ensues is a profound and transformative connection that defies all conventions.

As they navigate the paradisiacal landscapes and embrace the serendipitous moments of their vacation, these two individuals find themselves swept up in a whirlwind romance. Yet, there's a twist to this tale: both harbor genetic anomalies that set them apart from the rest of the world. It is these very anomalies that draw them together, igniting a passionate and profound bond that transcends the boundaries of age and convention.

But, as the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end." As their idyllic holiday draws to a close, the challenges of the outside world loom large, and the game they've been playing begins to unravel. Can their love withstand the harsh realities that await them beyond the paradise they've created together?

    GAME OF GENETIC ANOMALIES

    VIKTOR A. KING

hat's happening? is probably what many children ask themselves when they live in poverty and are hungry...

Perhaps someone tells them a lie, answering,

It will get better, you'll see...

After all, what is more subtly deceptive and politely conversational than a well-spoken lie.

    The Mutants (at play)

    CHAPTER ONE

Giovanna adjusted her disheveled tuft of hair; subtle wrinkles of discomfort creased the corners of her mouth. She squinted, nearsighted, assessing the distance she had to cover with the stroller to reach the entrance. The stroller was a rare and incredible object of ingenious design—ergonomic, made of titanium, feather-light, with two wide wheels almost reaching the armrests, standing a meter off the ground. It had soft yet durable tires and sports car-like shock absorbers, but in miniature form, like those small cream-filled pastries where you felt like you were only indulging partially, with little sharp bites rather than dull ones.

The handles for pushing it were naturally ergonomic, made of rubber, with finger grooves carefully designed and textured for an excellent grip. It weighed 10.45 kilograms when empty, and with Marco seated, almost 30 kilograms.

The entrance was about one meter and thirty centimeters away, with two steps in the vestibule leading to the old wooden exit door, one of those ancient doors that adorned buildings from the 1500s. Its width was just a scant one meter and thirty centimeters. The width of the stroller, including the wheel protrusions, was one meter and twenty centimeters. However, each time, it was necessary to remind Marco not to wave his arms, or else he could get hurt...

To make him laugh, Giovanna would tell him that he was a little bird that had to crouch in the nest to pass under the door because it was very, very, very narrow... and on the prolonged and melodious final o, they were outside, smiling.

The sun engulfed them, blinding them. Marco shouted again: OOOOOOOOOOOO.

Marco, that's enough. Now you're not a little bird anymore; you're a big lion! You have to be very quiet in the savannah because down there in the sun-scorched grass, a chubby gazelle is grazing!

    OOOOTTTTAAAAAA.

Giovanna laughed and tousled his hair.

Then, using a delicate white cotton handkerchief with embroidered initials along with a blue teddy bear hanging from an orange balloon, she wiped the drool that dripped from his mouth.

In truth, the handkerchief cleaned with evident difficulty, but it was also true that performing the same operation with paper seemed brutal. Clinging to appearances, in the end, appeared to be the most acceptable and digestible solution.

They crossed the entire Mancuso Street, turned the corner onto Bortolotti Street, and saw the nose of the Peugeot in the handicap parking lot.

Giovanna, would Marco like a delicious treat?

The baker, Gianfranco, leaned out of his shop, waving a fragrant baguette to get their attention. He was portly and graying, energetic and optimistic, divorced, and probably an erotomaniac, but truly a good-hearted guy in his age.

    VEEEERRRRYYY GOOOOOD! Marco exclaimed.

You see, my beautiful mommy, Marco wants the treat. And do you want a nice treat from your favorite baker? Gianfranco winked playfully. Gianfranco, you know... Marco can't have it. All those sugars, they're bad for his diabetes, or the composite amitrases, or I can't remember, but he can only have a treat with unrefined sugars and gluten-free flour, no glucose.

    In short 'no crap."

    MMMMEEEELLIITTOOOO

There now he goes wild, come on and give him this candy we'll get it over with and I'll go in the car to my little house

Here Marcolino, I give you the love and good luck candy, the one that does good miracles and that only smart and nice children like you eat. I don't give it to anyone else, because you are the most beautiful child in the world!

Exaggerated...I won't let you see your boobs anyway, even with all this good talk.

But who wants to see mom's boobs, she's flat! I want to see the big boobs! Not the little tits!!!

    TITTTTTIIIIISSSSSSSS

Giovanna laughed, understandably charmed by the kind, albeit subtly teasing, manners of the baker, while Marco, in the midst of biting into his biscuit, managed to spill three-quarters of it on his shirt.

Giovanna glanced at the poor little blue teddy bear and its bashful, damp balloon and tried to remedy the mishap.

Shall I help you load the stroller?

No, please, Marco weighs nearly 19 kilograms.

But I'm a man, he said, gazing at her shapely posterior, snugly clad in the economical Decathlon tracksuit.

Who knows how you would look dressed as a woman...

"A tracksuit like this one appeared on Nicki Minaj in an Instagram post.

And it's been reviewed as the best garment of the year, 'sexy and comfortable,' they've called it.

    But who is this Nicchi?

Oh, come on, you know her. She's got bosoms like two dirigibles... tomorrow I'll show you her posts, she's an ex-porn star, rapper... interesting crowd to hang out with.

Meanwhile, Giovanna unfastened the stroller's safety restraint, handing Marco over to the baker. She quickly opened the car door and took the boy back.

Now, who's Marco? A little mouse who has to lower his head to enter his burrow... down goes the head, little mouse!

    LIINNNOOOO!

Marco laughed, disheveled, out of tune, and with various fluids dribbling from his mouth, along with a peculiar saliva mixture of chocolate and almonds, but he laughed. He was happy! To play the little mouse. To enter the burrow. Just as his mommy had told him.

You need to relax, Giovanna. You're a pleasant, intriguing woman, and besides, you're young.

    No.

    No... what?

I'm not interested. You're cute, Gianfranco, a bit older, but a good person, and Marco loves you for all the times you help him with his blood sugar, but the answer is no.

    No... forever?

    Don't plead, it's not right.

    It was just a question.

    No, forever.

    Savage but effective.

Goodbye, little treasure. See you next Thursday, another visit, another biscuit.

How I wish to taste the flavor of your biscuit...

The words flew away with the purr of the Peugeot's small engine. Giovanna shifted into second and third gear and, with a small, frenetic screech, merged into the Milanese traffic.

No need to fret too much; she would surely run into Gianfranco or another Gianfranco during the evening shift.

It's time to go to sleep, my little hummingbird.

    HUMMMMMMBIIIRD!

"Hummingbirds are very dynamic little birds. They fly from flower to flower, sipping nectar with their long beaks.

«Dimmi amorino mio, vuoi sognare il colibrì, stanotte?»

Marco agitò violentemente la testa in segno di approvazione.

And as they land on another little flower, they leave a bit for another bird. They are kind little birds who love everyone and are loved by all.

    HUMIIIINGBIIIIIRDS!

And when the darkness comes, they know it's time to sleep, to go to their little nests on the flowering trees, and close their hummingbird eyes.

    HUMMMMIRD EYES!

You see, my little one, what progress you're making. You're a little hummingbird too, flying gently and gracefully from flower to flower, bringing nectar to all your little friends.

    MAMA?

Tell me, my sweetheart, do you want to dream about hummingbirds tonight?

Marco vigorously nodded his head in approval.

«Allora è ora di chiudere gli occhietti belli, domani mattina ti farò trovare tanti cereali nel latte caldo, come piace a te»

    «ALIIII ATTTTEEE DO»

Then it's time to close your beautiful little eyes. Tomorrow morning, I'll have lots of cereal in warm milk for you, just the way you like it.

    ALLL RRREEEAADDDY MAMA!

Giovanna kissed her child on the forehead, turned on the small bedside lamp, and immediately the yellow stars formed a soothing circle on the ceiling.

She turned off the nursery light, and the lights transformed in intensity, playing in the nightly round dance of tranquility.

"Sleep well, my love. Mommy is in her room. If you wake up, just call,
