Alea almost couldn’t believe it. Toby, the last male elf, was dead. He died of old age after a long life, but even so, it was tragic. The elves were now doomed to extinction.

Female elves always outnumbered the male, but for a time, they maintained a stable breeding population. Then, all of a sudden, they didn’t.
