Preface
Even as a kid, I was a voracious reader. My dad began to teach me to read before I went to kindergarten. Our elementary school librarian did not believe I could read so many books so quickly and often quizzed me about them when I would return them for more books. In first grade, I won a reading competition at our local public library for reading the most books that summer. It was no accomplishment. Books drew me in; I was unable to resist their magnetic pull.
In fourth grade, I wrote a three-act play performed by our local Girl Scout troop. I created it for something to do in our small Texas town. I only wanted to perform in the play, which I did. But I loved putting the words on paper.

My unplanned story flowed onto paper as if dictated by someone else. I ran across campus to file it before the deadline.
A few weeks later,
