The once pristine air that filled our lungs has transformed into a veritable minefield of microscopic plastic particles, leading to a cascade of respiratory complications. Like a silent assassin, these microscopic invaders obstruct the vital work of pulmonary surfactants, undermining the delicate architecture of our alveoli and airways. The consequences are as profound as they are tragic: the proliferation of epithelial cells is stifled, and apoptosis ensues.

On the precipice of environmental collapse, our planet bears witness to the relentless global warming and the advance of the oceans, as they have risen several feet, causing widespread flooding during storms, consuming the coastlines, and inundating once-thriving cities. As populations scramble to find refuge from the watery onslaught, an exodus of displaced millions ensues.
