About this ebook
During the 16th century, the holy city of Jerusalem has been ruled by the Ottoman Empire. But due to its lack of security and management, a new mercenary force was established in 1561 by the city’s local forces. Known as the Sha’Mar brotherhood, their sole duty to protect the rights of the Israeli people and maintain civil safety. Two decades later the guild expanded, and a new youth has been inaugurated into its ranks as one of its most prominent members. However when a trio of fugitives encounters him one night on duty, he is soon drawn into another conflict that threatens the peace of Israel born from a potentially fearsome alliance between the Ottomans and another rising empire that hunts for them. Now faced with this new imperial menace, the young warrior Irijah of Lifta is compelled to join forces with the trio and their ongoing war to defend both their homelands to prevent a terrible queen and her army from rising to power.
Irijah: A young mercenary of the Sha’Mar brotherhood. The leader of the guild, Commander Ishmerai, is also his father who trained him to join its ranks and inspires to become the hero he is to his people.
Ishmerai: Leader of the Sha’Mar brotherhood and father of Irijah. His reputation as a commander in a past life has allowed the guild to expand in influence while it also garnered much controversy with Ottoman officials.
Adriel: An exceptional marksman who is only a year older than Irijah and his loyal friend among the Sha’Mar. It was he who taught him how to use a crossbow with great proficiency.
Rekem: A silent giant that serves the Sha’Mar’s main forces of defense. His abominable size and strength makes him among of the most powerful for his allies to rely on in battle.
Malchiah: One of the founding members of the Sha’Mar and a long-time friend to Ishmerai. His insightful leadership as one of the guild’s captains has contributed to its rising success throughout all of Israel and in most parts of Syria.
Tarya: A young woman from Ireland who leads a trio of renegades known as the Galway Selkies. Together they seek retribution against an imperial army that had once invaded their homeland.
Breanna: The most fearless and headstrong of the Galway Selkies. Armed with a two-bladed halberd along with her own raw strength, she revels in fighting strong opponents in order to improve herself.
Lynet: The eldest and most carefree beauty of the Galway Selkies. She is also shown to be the most agile in combat, using swift and deadly
