prologue.

It came out of nowhere. One minute I was helping my parents pull groceries from the car, and the next moment I felt the sensation of something trying to bite my feet. I could hear it snapping. It was invisible.

As the noise persisted around my feet, panic surged through my body. I began to run. The more I ran, the louder and closer the noise came to my feet. Frantically, I circled the house as my heart pounded in my chest. I could feel it behind me, steadily pursuing me, focused, and coming for me.

After frantically circling the house several times, one of my parents unlocked the front door. I dashed up the steps inside the house. I chose to remain silent about this eerie encounter, choosing not to share it with anyone.

As far as I can recall, that was the first encounter where an invisible entity actively pursued me outside the walls of my home. Prior to that incident, my encounters with the unseen realm were tied to the confines of my house, such as nightmares and strange beings moving about my bedroom. Never before had I faced such an otherworldly presence outdoors.

After that one experience, I had a flood of encounters over the years with the unseen world, in my dreams and while awake.

On top of my experiences with dreams and the unseen world, I faced a mountain of emotionally traumatic experiences throughout my life. From deep family trauma, severe bullying and sexual abuse, to divorce and sinister betrayal, to near death experiences and crises such as homelessness, addictions, and being physically attacked. Yet those experiences barely scrape the surface of what I’ve faced and overcome.

While I can go on and on about my life’s hardships, I want to focus on the fact that I would not have healed from those experiences without dreams. I found refuge in my dreams to replay traumatic experiences and learn to
