Welcome to Thailand

It was the 9th of April , 2019. Daniel stepped off the plane and into the exotic air of Chiang Mai, Thailand. The golden sun was beginning its slow descent towards the horizon, casting an enchanting glow across the landscape of modern and traditional Thai architecture, and the green mountains in the background.

Daniel stood in line at the immigration checkpoint, patiently waiting for his turn to be processed. The line seemed to stretch on forever, with travellers from all around the world eagerly anticipating their entry into Thailand. He glanced at his passport, ready to present it to the immigration officer.

"Sawatdee khrap (Good day, Sir)! May I have your passport, please?" the officer requested, his voice firm but welcoming.

Daniel extended his hand, offering his passport to the officer. As he perused the pages, his gaze shifted to Daniel.

So, what brings you to Thailand? the officer inquired.

I'm here for Songkran. It’s been a dream of mine to celebrate the Thai New Year.

The officer's expression softened. Ah, Songkran! Yes, it’s a wonderful time to be in Chiang Mai. May I ask how long you plan to stay?

Daniel's eyes gleamed with eagerness as he responded, Two-weeks and then back to Australia.

The officer smiled and nodded. Thank you, sir. Welcome to Thailand. Next!

With a parting nod, the officer returned Daniel's passport, officially granting him entry into the land of smiles.

Making his way out of the airport, Daniel quickly hailed a taxi and provided the driver with the address of his hotel.
