About this ebook

Here it is again, Elmer Abear MD, has written a set of memoirs that could stand as his autobiography. The memoirs start during his mischievous childhood days stealing from his Father’s locked cabinet as coached by his elder brother, Cesar Abear. No it is not me, it was my father, Cesar Molina Abear.

His memoirs cover his growing up to adulthood and maturity all the while keeping his Catholic spiritual learning from the Jesuits. There is a lot to read about his view of the world including his experiences.

I wish you an enjoyable read.

    PREFACE

Childhood Foibles: growing-up in a large family brings in childhood memories we want to forget yet still continues to remember because of the lessons gained as we go through life.

Part I of the book provides very interesting insights into the typical teenage behavior including harrowing experiences of a child as he moves-on towards adulthood. Honesty, sincerity and candidness mark the narration of events in this book and how such experiences made him realize the goodness of God and the evils of Satan.

Descriptions of his thoughts and actions that led him to do things for Satan are actually common among male children of his age fighting for their survival in a large Filipino family, living in a typical cultural environment during the World War II (mid- 1940s) period.

How the author, with his physical deviation causing his inferiority, survived the difficulties in life and the discriminatory treatment received in a school for the elite is worth exploring, understanding and dissecting. It is important to share the observation that, while reading through the chapter, one can clearly see that in everything the author did, God was always part of his situational analysis. God’s teachings took over whatever negative actions he did that ultimately led him to the path of repentance and subsequent spiritual love.

Part II guides the reader to a higher level of the author’s maturity as he continued to explore the mysteries of life relative to his acceptance of Satan’s invitations. The citations of the scriptures perfectly timed with the occurrence of certain events, makes one realize the need to study more the Holy Bible.

It takes someone like the author to be able to cite at the right time the teachings from the life of Jesus Christ. His love for the blessed Virgin was clearly depicted on the time he spent to have her gold crown re-constructed into one worthy of the Queen of heaven and earth. How he shared stories and real-life events to explain the concepts of re-incarnation, ghosts and omens are most interesting and truly worthwhile reading.

This can even lead the reader to contemplate on the extent of his own knowledge and appreciation of the Lord’s life and how particularly Confessions can help prepare one for a place in heaven. Reading the book will make one realize how little we know about God and how much more we have to do to prepare ourselves for eternity in Heaven.

Chapter II gives a great challenge to the readers’ acceptance of the inadequacy of one’s spiritual knowledge, exposure and level of understanding. After reading the book, the message is clear … it is high time to go back and understand what God wants you to do for Him, enough to prepare for an eternity of happiness in God’s kingdom … simply by reading the Holy Bible and living its teachings.

    PART I:

CHILDHOOD FOIBLES & MISCHIEFS GROWING UP IN A LARGE FAMILY

How My Life Began at Conception

I confess to you, my brothers and sisters: 1 st , the fun, the laughter and issues of life, growing up in a large family. 2 nd , my childhood mischiefs which by its very nature are sinful and some foible’s incidents which, I believe, are harmless act of childhood foolishness.

Anyway, let me introduce to you in satire my knowledge as a Doctor of GP, Ob-Gyn as to how scientifically our life started on earth: As an act of my Dad’s love with Mom we found ourselves in her womb, about 6 million of us, Sperms. Have you heard about Monty’s song (1983, video), Every Sperm is Sacred. So, don’t waste it into the ground, not blessed by God.

Just as ½ + ½ makes only 1 and so were we, 6 million Sperms, each had only ½ life, searching for one Egg’s ½ life to form 1 life.

Due to Mom’s increasing luteinizing hormone brought about by her ovulation, about the 14th day of her menstrual cycle, her Egg from the follicle of her ovary found its way down into her Fallopian tube and settled on its mid, waiting for Mr. Sperm.

At the upper part of her womb there were two left and right tubes, called the Fallopian tubes. (Our map was accurate). I chose the right tube while others had helped themselves at the left side.

We immediately saw her Egg, not far from us. Oh boy, I gasped: she was very beautiful, radiant and sparkling like the sun setting against the monstrance of the West. Excited we moved in, tiptoeing like Arthropod.

Though she was so near yet she seemed far away from my heart, among 6 million aspirants, petrified with filial fear and yet delighted at this amazing sight of the Egg. In fairness to Monty’s song should I sing, Every Egg is Sacred? It was not easy competing generally for one Egg. To win her, it was like winning a 649 Jackpot.
