Cara curtsied, head bowed, knowing that her fate rested upon the dragon's good will. The beast was so large that, even with her eyes fixed on the stairs, she was aware of him moving, his long neck stretching toward her, his hot breath stirring the skirts of her gown and the loose strands of blonde hair which had tumbled around her face.
Power radiated from him, hotter than the desert sun, prickling across her skin and sending a tremor down her spine.
