Geoffrey's War - Caleb Indhivan Victor
Chapter 1
How it all began
Long, long ago, in a small town called Faithenville, along a busy street, in a rich house, up three flights of stairs, in a lonely attic, sat a boy. The name of the boy was Geoffrey. His father was a rich and well-respected man, known by the name of Richardman.
The attic could be described with one word, grimy. It was covered with a layer of dust and soot from the chimney and in some damp corners, a disgusting coat of moss. There was a dirty, antique stool covered with clouds of filth, together with many old boxes of things from his great-grandfather’s generation. Lying on the floor was what seemed to be a wilted stalk of an olive tree with a few leaves on it. But there was something bizarre about that wilted stalk; it made you feel a strange sense of peace.
Now, the reason Geoffrey was sitting here in the attic on this horrid stool was not because he wanted to sit here (tell me who in the world would want to sit all alone in this dusty dungeon for hours). He was sitting here as a punishment; earlier this day he had created a monster of a problem. Let me tell you all about it.
