INTRODUCTION

Having supported Chelsea over land and sea (and Leicester!) for more than 50 years, this quizzical trip down memory lane has been a joy to compile and truly illustrates the number of great players, managers, games and events that have shaped the history of this glorious club.

I have tried throughout the book to pitch the questions so that they are not too easy or too hard, and can be enjoyed by fans of any age, and with memories like elephants or sieves. There is a bias towards more recent players and successes since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003 as its much more fun testing your knowledge of successes and triumphs.

The 100 quizzes are listed in alphabetical order with ten questions in each category and the answers at the back of the book. They can be enjoyed on your own or, more preferably, with fellow supporters testing their knowledge of the good and the great that have graced the hallowed turf of Stamford Bridge since 1905. What will surprise you, as it surprised me, is how many fond memories of sensational goals, top quality players, charismatic managers, unforgettable matches and historic achievements the questions bring flooding back,

I hope of course that the questions are 100% accurate, but it is important to say that certain statistics and details may not be universally agreed upon and might differ very slightly in the retelling. In such instances, I have used my best judgement, but then, this book is primarily a celebration of Chelsea Football Club, a bit of fun, and something to be enjoyed.
