A Single Mom’s Story: Giving the Glory to God
()
About this ebook
From the time she was a little girl, author Della J. Korabek experienced many trials and tribulations. But for each hurdle she encountered, she knew she could survive and thrive because God stood beside her throughout the journey.
In A Single Mom’s Story, Korabek narrates her life story beginning with her birth in a small town in New York in 1935, continuing through her formative years, sharing details about her family, her schooling, and more. It reveals how, at forty years old, she found herself a single mother of three children. However, she realized that with God, all things are possible.
Korabek offers her personal testimony to touch the hearts of other single moms, seeking to give them hope and let them know they are not alone. She communicates the message that with God’s help, they, too, can live a successful life raising their children as single mothers.

Afterword
To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die: a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted. A time to kill, and a time to heal: a time to break down, and a time to build up: A time to weep, and a time to laugh: a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1–8
Acknowledgments
Thank you to all who contributed to the publishing of this book. We lost our dear mother, Della, on December 17, 2021. She was in her seventies and eighties when she wrote this book. It was her passion to have it published, as she wanted to let all mothers know that raising children can be tough, but with God, all things are possible.
My Advice for Moms
My advice for single moms—for all moms, really—is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and become born again (John 3:1–15). God will be with you through all your trials and tribulations. He will always be there for you, and he will do things for you that no one else can do. Your life will have its ups and downs, but just knowing that God is with you will make your life wonderful and enjoyable. Always remember that God loves you and your children and that God is always there for you.
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He (even) gave up his only-begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish—come to destruction, be lost—but have eternal (everlasting) life.
John 3:16
Chapter 1
27197.pngThe Start of a Family
This is a story of a girl who was born in a small town in the state of New York. Throughout her life, she went through many trials and tribulations and trusted and counted on God to get her though all of them. She always believed that with God, all things were possible, and they were (2 Corinthians 12:10).
So here is the beginning of Delilah’s life: Her parents, Stan and Adele, met at a dance. Stan played both a saxophone and a violin in the band. He and Adele went out together for a while, and then they got married. They settled in the small town of Armor, New York. A year later, they had a baby girl and named her Delilah. Two years later, they had a baby boy and named him Robbie. Two years after that, they had a third child, a baby boy, and named him Jimmy. They had a lovely family.
Their little girl, Delilah, could play the piano at the age of five years. She played a few popular songs every day. She loved the piano, and she played by ear, like her dad and his brothers and sisters. She enjoyed playing the piano whenever she could.
One day, her mother made lunch for her children—peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which they loved. Delilah took her sandwich, sneaked out the front door, walked to the corner gas station, and sat on the cement circle, where a big truck filled the gas pumps. It wasn’t filling up that day, so she sat there to eat her sandwich. A lady, however, got some gas
