The Death Whisperer - Sharleen A. McCorrister

    My Letter to the World

I’m not the first to write it down,

Nor the last to see it through,

There is one who came before me

    Who wrote sincere and true.

    ––––––––

I only mimic what was said,

    A paraphrase here and there;

My words speak strictly to the soul,

    Integrally with care.

    ––––––––

So, I am here to do my part

    And write for posterity,

That in this world I lived my life

    And make no apology.

    Broken Smile

A face like any other, the lines of time washed through.

Her cheeks a little hallow, her eyes a paler hue.

    ––––––––

Age had weathered her slowly and time had not been kind,

She was twisted and rejected by the very ties that bind.

    ––––––––

And yet a spark lay hidden, a secret stayed the while,

It surfaced momentarily in her haunting broken smile.

    ––––––––

As ashes are to ashes and dust to dust must be,

The triumph of her spirit will surely set her free.

    Take Back the Night

The constant din in my head wages war with all its might,

Sounding forth the battle cry from the sleepless realms of night.

    ––––––––

Shadows from the darkened mists mirror the echoes of a dream

And whispers from another world where Thanatos reigns
