I found out about Our Lady of the Pine years ago on the internet and read a few messages on the official website madonnadelpino.altervista.org. 

I thought they were interesting but did not dig further. Nevertheless, I saved the website in my favorites thinking that it could be useful in the future.

Time went by, and so did life and the trials it brings with it. Years later thanks to Don Alessandro Maria Minutella, the Italian warrior priest of the Virgin Mary who is leading the revival of true Catholicism worldwide, I learned more about Avola and became intrigued and fascinated by it.

I went back to the website and read many of the messages realizing how true and how full of details about current times they actually are. 

And yet nobody was talking about them, not the faithful, not the clergy: I found that shocking to say the least.

Saddened by not finding an official English version I reached out to the website administrator offering to translate it into English, hoping that a larger diffusion of the messages could help them get on the radar of the clergy in the English-speaking world.

To my utmost surprise Nino Oliva himself replied to me promptly asking if instead I was interested in translating the first volume of Maria, la Madonna del Pino, the book he published years earlier.  I accepted wholeheartedly.

The more I learned about Avola and the messages to Giuseppe Auricchia the more I found them astonishingly amazing. The heavens have poured an immense amount of grace on that place and that is confirmed by the number of supernatural phenomena that have occurred there. As a person who deals on a daily basis with data and numbers, I have been captured by them as they speak for themselves: a few visits of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus in their physical body, 3 miracles of the sun, about 1,600/1,700 messages, holy oil exuding from the statue of Mary and from the cross for many years, stigmata to the seer, one eucharistic miracle, messages from Mary, Jesus and many saints, inexplicable healings thanks to the use of the Holy Oil and prophesies that came true. 

The most important aspect of Avola is the content of the messages that all revolve around the plea of the Heavens to humankind to repent and go back to Mother Church, the Holy Roman Catholic Church, following her dogmas and teachings.

A glorious body of truth distilled along 2000 years of human suffering, martyrdom, and sacrifice.

The number of messages prove how heartfelt these requests have been, and the urgency in following their wishes. That is testament to the fact that we are living in eschatological times, as prophesized in the Holy Scriptures as well by seers and saints along the centuries.

Avola is simply astonishing. A portal to the Heavens that finds its ultimate purpose in reconciling humankind to God, reminding people how much they are loved and warning them to change their ways if they want to save their souls. If, until now, there has been a lot of obstructionism from the clergy to have these messages widely known they will not be hidden forever: truth always comes out as it is needed to souls like oxygen to life.

When that happens, a new dawn will rise for Avola and humanity, a new era of repentance and conversion.

The signature of God in these apparitions of Our Lady of the Pine is evident in the people that have been chosen to deliver the messages. The simple and innocent heart of Giuseppe Auricchia, his down to earth demeanor and meekness, have been teaching great lessons of humility to everybody who has ears to hear and eyes to see the truth. In getting to know Nino Oliva I realized that the extent of the work of the Virgin Mary in the Avola phenomenon has reached far beyond the choosing of Mr. Auricchia.

Nino is a dedicated, respectful, and devout catholic of great heart, tact, faith and resilience. Despite all the challenges in making Avola known he has continued this mission undeterred, honoring his word to Mr. Auricchia even after his birth to heaven 10 years ago. 

I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to know Nino. Knowing him I feel like I have also known Mr. Auricchia, with whom he shared struggles, defeats, worries, and victories in their many years of collaboration.

I approached the translation making an extra effort to keep the feeling that the reader receives in the Italian language: the feeling of dealing with a humble, sincere, and poorly educated old Sicilian Italian farmer, who was suddenly drawn into this phenomenal experience and accepted it with obedience, meekness, respect, devotion and fear of God.

The reader may find some sentences constructed with an unorthodox syntax: that is intentional to convey the feeling of the Italian version.  For the same reason I also tried to keep the punctuation of the body of the messages as close to the original as possible. I sincerely hope that this effort and approach will be useful and appreciated.

With this book we wish to give articulate information on a twenty-year period of celestial apparitions, which began in 1990 in Mammanelli, a district of the town of Avola, in the province of Syracuse, Italy, with an exposition both through the personal diary of Mr. Giuseppe Auricchia, the Instrument, and through his direct testimony, in addition to the website Madonna del Pino.

Mr. Auricchia, was born on April 28, 1916, the second son of six siblings, three males and three females. He married and had four children, three males and one female.

He is called "Instrument in these and by these alleged heavenly apparitions". Appearances both private and public, reported by him in all these years.

Since 1990 he has received many visions, dictations and messages, beginning with the apparition of Our Lady in the Mammanelli farmhouse, but later also visions and messages from the Lord Jesus and some Saints.

He wrote the messages and visions in notebooks in an understandable Italian, see the example of calligraphy on page 87. In fact, he has achieved the level of the fifth grade, and in these years of apparitions, many were the people who offered and took turns to transcribe his manuscripts, in order to disclose them.

I would like to point out here that the content of some messages may leave the reader surprised by the words used in the context, phrases and words that are certainly not common in the language of a farmer, and that hints at an origin outside of his culture and environment.

Here are some examples: "You have sunk your guilt - 04/15/1994 or even this phrase, It does not penetrate you, it would be the end of Hell, but it crushes them with its rutilating that beatifies in the sky - 02/02/2011".

In this book, we have chosen to publish some of the messages without commentary, so as to leave the reader free to make his or her own personal evaluation, but some particular themes form certain chapters in the first part.

On the moral, spiritual and theological weight of these heavenly messages, there have not been, until now, official written pronouncements of the Church, and here, there is no intention to anticipate the judgment, but this book is a further testimony, added to those already existing on the story.

In this sense, we remind the reader, to always consider that, we speak of presumed celestial apparitions.

The messages published here, are only a small part of those already transcribed and disseminated over twenty years, and many have not yet been included in the website.

The author, who has followed the story in recent years, both in private with Mr. Giuseppe Auricchia, and in the public apparitions of Mammanelli, wishes to point out that in these messages, there is a crystalline call from Heaven addressed to all the people of the Church, as well as to all the Christian people, a call sometimes hard, present and constant over the years, and that perhaps distinguishes this Place of apparitions in this direction.

About the Place, we will also see a chapter about it.

This first volume: "The apparitions to Giuseppe Auricchia, is part of the trilogy on the apparitions: Mary, Our Lady of the Pine" and informs the reader about the specifics, with distinctive elements in the history and a selection of integral messages, visible with date and title in the index.

The first edition of the first volume, was published in 2013, with 80 integral messages. The second in 2020.

This edition has been integrated with two new parts and with some new chapters, more than seventy integral messages of the first decade have been added and leads to a total of 160 integral messages.

The second volume: "Messages and Visions" is an integral part of the trilogy with important chapters of messages pertaining to:

The Passion of Our Lord Jesus - Heaven, Hell, Purgatory - Messages to the Pope.

It contains a hundred integral messages from 1990 to 2012.

The first edition was published in 2019.

The third volume: "Messages in Theme", to date, contains 120 integral messages of the twenty-year period, which added to those contained in the two previous volumes, provide a total of about 400 integral messages published in the three volumes.

The third volume completes this trilogy, with the first part in thematic chapters that, also includes clippings of messages chosen by keyword; it closes with the second part with documents and news about the story of the apparitions to Giuseppe Auricchia and the local church of the Diocese of Noto, SR.

The first edition was published in 2020.

In conclusion, as an author, I have in my archives about 1500 dated messages, plus others without date and when in 2007 I was called to write about the apparitions, I pointed out the problem to Mr. Giuseppe Auricchia, advising him also to check the transcription of the messages and to sign them, before distributing them to Mammanelli; In addition, it must be said that during the pilgrimages he made, there was not always the possibility to transcribe them and from here, I suppose, there was the loss of a few dozen messages, therefore, I quantify a total of 1600/1700 between messages and heavenly visions, received by Giuseppe Auricchia.

With this trilogy, it is hoped to provide a fair smattering of the apparition of : Mary, Most Holy Virgin of the Pine, even if, thinking of the amount of annual messages, each of these would deserve a volume in itself.

To all of us, may the words of St. Paul in his first letter to the Thessalonians, 5:20,21, always be a companion to our reading: Do not despise prophecies; examine everything and consider what is good.

Part  one

Brief history

The first apparition

Mr. Giuseppe Auricchia of Avola (Syracuse), born in 1916, a farmer with a fifth grade education, husband, father and grandfather, narrates the beginning of the events of Mammanelli as follows:

"It was August 23, 1989, the period of the almond harvest, I was in the countryside and I was returning to the farmhouse for the lunch break, and there I found a Woman dressed in black with a Child near the door, I greeted her and asked her what she was looking for, she answered me that she was tired and needed food and rest.

I invited her to come into the building and I brought her the bread and food of my breakfast on the table, I told her that they could eat it all and that there was a bedroom in front of them to rest and that no one would disturb them.

Then I went back to work. After a while, due to the strong heat of that day, I fell asleep under an olive tree, a long and happy sleep.

I woke up much later, returned to the farmhouse and entering the courtyard found the doors and windows open, I had left them closed. I called the Lady at the door but got no answer, I went to the bedroom and called the Lady again but got no answer, there was no one there, I saw that the bed had not been touched, She and her Child had disappeared.

After a month she came back again and repeated the same thing, so I thought that if she came back a third time, I should ask her name, why she looks for food and doesn't eat it, why she asks for rest and doesn't rest.

The third time came and these thoughts of mine vanished, as if someone had taken them out of my head. Touching the shoulders of the Child of about six years of age I told him that he was a very beautiful child and praised his beauty.

He looked at me sketching a smile but said nothing.

On July 24, 1990, I was about to close the garage, while I had already closed all the other doors, suddenly there were three flashes of light that dazzled me, I could no longer see!

Then slowly I could see again and turning towards the Pine tree I saw an oval cloud.

So it was that I saw Our Lady, in the oval cloud, with many bright rays, a rosary chaplet, the heavenly mantle, a green sash at her waist.

I trembled like a leaf to see Her, She was shining in an indescribable light, Her brown hair was golden, Her eyes green as the sea, Her voice was soft, a harmony.

I was still trembling when She called me, but I didn't want to go because I was afraid, then I approached the tree, I threw myself on the ground shouting and asking God to make me understand what I was seeing, if it was something benign or malignant.

Then I noticed that Her rays were moving as She told me:

My son, fear not, this time I am no longer dressed in black as in the past, but in pure white because this is My robe, I will no longer ask you for food on this Earth because My hunger is hunger for souls, and trembling is My heart for you, you are all My children, she said, opening her hands, "I have not yet told you who I am.

I am the Mother of God, pray, pray, pray.

When you pray, say this little prayer:

MARY QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, HAVE MERCY ON MANKIND.

I will return and speak to you again."

Then the light disappeared and everything disappeared, I remained on my knees asking myself so many questions and questioning myself, wondering if she was really the Mother of God, what did she want from me? What should I do?

Questions that remained unanswered.

Then She came back the second time and I, who had not yet spoken to anyone about these events, not even to my Lady goodness, although she had noticed something in me.

It was asked if it occurred to him to talk to a priest about it, but he answers negatively.

I didn't talk about it with anyone, I was afraid, very afraid.

She came the third time and scolded me as one would a child, she said to me:

Why are you afraid? You have to speak but you will suffer, starting tonight you will suffer. You must speak!

I went home immediately, got ready to go out and went to church, to St. Mary of Jesus. At that time I was attending the prayer group of the Renewal of the Holy Spirit, and that evening there was a meeting.

So I began to talk about it with my friends and while I was talking about it, the parish priest heard it too, and he threw me out in a bad way.

To the question if that priest has then reconsidered, he answers negatively, he says that he remained as if stunned, and that he knew later that he sent people to spy on him, in particular by a person who also acquired my trust.

Mammanelli, September 20, 1990 - Our Lady's message

Giuseppe Auricchia: "Today, 20 September at 12 noon, while I was eating breakfast in a room in the farmhouse, I felt the chair and the table tremble and even the ground that seemed to disappear under my feet.

At the same time a beam of light came in through the window and dazzled my view. I got up and looking out the window, I saw the Holy Virgin on the pine sapling.

As I had been suggested, I took the cup that contained the blessed water and coming out, I approached the sapling and threw the blessed water towards the Virgin. She smiled and said to me :"

"You see, I warned you that someone would have given you bad advice, for this water belongs to Me and to My Son Jesus. I am not satan, nor a ghost, but the Mother of God. I forgive you because you acted against your will. Several people in your group, including priests, do not believe you but do not worry, I am with you every day because you are a favorite son of Mine. Do not fear and do not doubt these apparitions of Mine, I repeat, I am the Mother of mercy, hope and salvation.

Have them pray the Holy Rosary and the prayer I suggested to you."

"In Mammanelli, on December 7, 1990, there were many people, they prayed and sang praise to God and Mary.

At 12 o'clock Mom came, gave the message and said to me:

I will give you divine signs and perform a miracle.

On December 8, 1990, in the square of Mammanelli, there were many people, there was a lot of law enforcement that locked me inside the farmhouse, telling me not to leave until 12 p.m. o'clock.

I was still inside the farmhouse at 11:30 a.m., when I fell to the ground, then they came to see me and stayed to look at me until I recovered.

Then I went out and got the message from Mom, which I told the people present.

The crowd thanked Our Lady by crying: Long live Mary, when a flock of birds appeared in the sky, which seemed but were not doves, and which shined with so many colors, then they dropped in flight and formed like a crown, and then disappeared into the sky. Then they returned to repeat the scene.

Our Lady had warned me of the divine signs that I would have on that day, and said to me: In the following days, there will be an event and I will perform a miracle.

On the night of December 12 to 13, 1990, at 1:20 a.m., a voice called me, saying: Get up, hurry up, but I lost time for my lady. All of a sudden everything shook, it seemed as if the walls of the house were falling on me. It was the earthquake.

Afterwards, I had everyone against me, even the priests, saying that I knew about the earthquake and that I had not warned them. Actually, even if I knew it, I wouldn't have reported it if the Mother didn't authorize me to.

(Editor's note - That earthquake is remembered as the Santa Lucia earthquake, a seismic event of medium intensity that at 01:24 a.m. on 13 December 1990, affected a large part of south-eastern Sicily. It had an intensity of VII-VIII degree of the Mercalli scale with a duration of about 45 seconds. The epicenter was located in the Gulf of Augusta, in the province of Syracuse, where it caused 17 deaths, hundreds of injuries and 15,000 homeless).

On January 6, 1991, by the order of the bishop, I should not have gone to Mammanelli, but due to the enormous flow of believers and curious since dawn (about five thousand pilgrims), law enforcement was mobilized.

I went there and was locked in the farmhouse with the imposition of not leaving until noon.

Outside there was a huge crowd, curious and believers praying. At 11 o'clock, I had my first divine contact, saying to me:

Courage, come on, do not fear.

It was a great trial but sad and full of suffering.

At 11:50 I went to the pine tree, people have been praying intensely, then at 12, a sudden rustle of fresh wind preceded the appearance of Our Lady, who dictated the message to me.

After reading the message, the police commissioner shouted to the crowd to leave, saying aloud that there was nothing to see, nothing at all, shouting to clear the place.

The crowd answered him with a loud cry: LONG LIVE MARY, repeating it several times.

It was in those moments that everyone present saw the sun becoming larger, approaching and turning on itself, it became more opaque and as it turned it began to vibrate with multicolored light.

In the meantime, from the crowd a lady, Maria S. of Avola, reported that she had been healed of an ear that had been suffering for some time.

The doctor who followed her had told her that she had to have surgery and for the recovery, that there might have been, it would take the sum of 4,000,000 lire.

The poor woman did not work, and that amount was beyond her means, so that morning she entrusted herself to Our Lady for the grace that, praying, she obtained.

When the commissioner looked at that sun, he stopped shouting, fell to his knees, made the sign of the cross and recited the Hail Mary aloud.

The next day, on my way to the police station, he confided in me that he went to church whenever he could, but until that day he had never knelt down.

That same day, after that sign of the sun, he returned to church.

Here, you have cried out for the miracle of the sun,

... and you have denied it

Mammanelli, July 28, 1996, 12 p.m. - Our Lady's message

"Dear children, I can prove that I love you.

I have waited for your coming, this is a strong will from the mom who comes for you.

Today it is quite difficult to give you a message, because the world does not correspond to the call of God, the world does not accept the peace of God.

I, Virgin Mary, am the ark of salvation, I warn humanity of the dangers facing the world and My Church, My tears of blood scattered in your Country, serve to tell My favorite children:

do not waste time, as soon as possible may My messages be disseminated in every part of the world.

O priests, bishops, I warn you, My tears are not important, but the content of My messages is important, read them, instruct My people while you are in time. Do not stand idle before the will of My Son. I, Mary, Mother of God, My heart weeps and feels pain because of the children who live in sin, by being burned by these sins, the mercy of God inflames My heart, the truth is that the world is still far from this truth, you help them !

For this reason God the Father sends Me to call humanity, for this reason, here you cried out at the miracle of the sun, … and you denied it. You were afraid to speak, but speak, don't be afraid! I Mary am with you, I speak to you My children, in words of love, especially for those who need to rediscover God. I am the seed of life for those who are hopeless and have no trust, Jesus loves you, I love you, if you want to follow this path, you must love and pray for others.

Now I leave you and bless you in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

I bless you, I will come back, I will speak to you on the last Sunday of August, but you My son, wait for me on the 15th, I will give you another extraordinary message, I bless you."
