A Trashy Pirate Romance - Sinnamon Carnelian

THAT SMUG, WRINKLED face of my greed-ridden Aunt Kathy stared back at me as the yawl moved further into the ocean with the pirates she had paid to take me away and keep me. The last thing she saw of me was my middle finger, which seemed to amuse the red-headed woman who was around my age; her hair matched her lips with the name to boot. Cherry, she snickered at my side while I stared down that vile woman standing onshore. She didn't have the decency to put shoes on me before I was bound, gagged, and hauled off in the middle of the night.

I had to live for her to continue suckling from my dear departed father's estate. If I died, the money would go to the orphanages of the kingdom. The following morning, Aunt Kathy would sob to the king and his admiral about my kidnapping. With me alive, there would be sightings letting her continue her pillaging of her brother's estate. Each month, the pirates would receive more money to keep me far away from her, but the admiral will come looking, him and his pesky, preppy son who the king had arranged for me to marry. If that had happened, my father's money would have followed me, leaving her high and dry, which I planned on her being there eventually. I should have poisoned her whiskey heavy afternoon tea.

You going to hit us like you did that man? Lolli, the older woman of the four people who had accepted payment for me, asked.

I shook my head, extending my arms, wanting to be free of the rope twisting and tightening into my wrists. I had already freed myself from the gag after burying my foot into the crotch of my aunt's minion.

So, Charlie, my sweet paycheck. Captain Marshall, Lolli's husband, cleared his throat, trying to hide his smirk. Since you mean so, so much to us now, we have a special place reserved for you. You have to be alive and well for my money to keep coming in, so you'll marry our boy. I had just technically fled marrying that annoying, dull son of the admiral and was off to another for the monetary gain of others. He likes ... bigger lassies such as yourself.

Lolli and Cherry looked at him like he was stupid, as if it weren't bad enough being called fat by my aunt all those years.

That's what every girl wants to hear. Cherry snorted, rolling her eyes. Forced marriage, but that's okay because he likes fat chicks. Her husband, Drake, laughed while he helped row us closer to their ship. You've got a little extra, and there isn't anything wrong with that. She slapped my back playfully; thick thighs, big butt, and chesty had been the constant torment of my teenage and adult years.

This is why I do the talking, dear. Lolli sighed heavily. He's a good man. If not, I'll have a daughter, but either way, you stay with us. Understood?

It's better than being with my aunt or the admiral's boy, I answered, gripping the seat, feeling the yawl jolt as the crew began to haul it out of the water and towards the deck.

Tomorrow morning, we'll get you dressed properly and your finger tattooed when we arrive, Lolli explained. She held up her left hand, wiggling her ring finger in time with the other three to show me the braided lines of red and black that twisted around their fingers. None of the men will touch you, so no need to worry about anyone else pulling you from your bed.

My homeland disappeared while I was led away by Cherry, her arm around my shoulders with her hips swaying side-to-side, humming a jolly tune. This would work just fine. What better way to rid me of my aunt and the admiral's dull son than the son of a pirate who was more than eager and willing?

A silken ruffled skirt bounced lightly over my thighs with each step of those glorious knee-high, lace-up, dark brown leather boots Cherry had given me. I had spent years desiring such a seductive pair of boots but was told only street workers wore them. Well, so did pirates, and they were perfect. The dark red sweetheart top, which showed a bit too much cleavage, went well with the black skirt but unfortunately, let that layer of pudge around my middle be seen.

We ended up in a hidden pirate port shelter on the cliff side of a useless chain of deserted islands in the late afternoon. An entire civilization of bottom-of-the-barrel people, according to the so-called civilized society on land. The only difference was the pirates would slit your throat in the daylight while the civilized folk slowly push and twist the knife into your back in the shadows, trying to keep their image in place. But both killed you with a smile plastered on their faces.

So many people walked the area in all manners of dress. Muscular men glistening with sweat as they worked were an erotic sight. Bending, twisting, lifting, pulling, and all manner of movements, making each muscle group tighten and flaunt their chiseled lines. I caught a glimpse of a particular barrel-chested beast of a man with a shaved head standing near his loading ship, watching me pass. He was easy on the eyes while being a little daunting. Locking eyes with him, he blew me a kiss, of all things. I quickly looked away, feeling mildly embarrassed for gawking at all the sights. However, I stole one more glimpse before we turned a corner on the path we were on.

Women warmly greeted Lolli as she walked in front of Cherry and me, with our arms linked and hips swaying in time. Why? I haven't the slightest clue why she enjoyed walking arm-in-arm with a complete stranger. She acted as if we'd known one another our whole lives. But some people are just like that. A group of women around Lolli's age met us in the tattooist's parlor, which was surprisingly clean and beautifully decorated with all sorts of works of art that she had put into someone's skin working alongside her husband. Both were a masterpiece in of themselves.

Sit. Lolli smiled, patting her legs after she had daintily sat in the tattooist's chair. It's tradition. We all sat on our mother-in-law's laps to get our wedding tattoos. Half the time I was sure they were making such traditions up.

Whose lap do the men sit on to get theirs? I asked, more curious than anything. What a fun sight it would be to see one of those gorgeous men sitting on one another for a tattoo. The others chuckled as they poured shots, and Cherry pushed me gently into place.

Bottoms up. Cherry cheered, handing me a shot glass filled with clear brown liquid. It had only a slight burn as it raced down my throat, but set my insides on fire.

Such a strange sensation feeling Lolli wrap her arm around me like a small child while she firmly gripped and pressed my left hand in place. Cherry joined her, standing behind her, pressing down on my arm as I felt the vicious sting of the needles painting my finger. I could understand why it was tradition to be held onto; it felt as if the very bone in my finger was being marked as well. Screeching through gritted teeth, I squirmed, hating every second. One of the other women grabbed my head and popped the end of the rum bottle in my mouth, giving me a much larger drink. The slap on my back made the others laugh as I coughed and gagged with a fog building in my head. Oddly enough, they weren't picking on me but sympathizing and remembering their turn at the needle.

Boyish laughter, most of it drunken, filled the air with the approach of the group of women walking in front, leading the way to the makeshift pirate wedding and celebration. Lolli walked in front of Cherry, who I was now thankful for walking arms-linked with me, feeling that last swig of rum kicking in. The men whistled and cheered below us as the women filtered in. Most of those women were quite lovely. Some were the same age as my aunt, but looked years younger and a hell of a lot better.

We walked along the left side catwalk with the banquet tables below us, stuffed with all sorts of sweet and savory foods. I was kept out of sight, heading to where the catwalks merged into one
