Mr. Barnett, Alice’s father, a lawyer, a scholar, and educator. If man took the time to listen and proceed with common sense. Mr. Elliott Barnett was a fighter for all men and women’s rights, regardless of race, creed, or color. Forever putting his hand forward for man to do the right thing; not one working for a spotlight, however on the ground floor.
The Civil Rights Act of 1968 is a landmark part of legislation in the United States that provided for equal housing opportunities for all mankind. It took the states and nation as a union to pass the legislation. The lawmakers on the ground floor assisted throughout the United States. It was a group united effort. They bonded together to do the right thing for the good of mankind. There is a true saying that a man works especially when it’s good and falls on good ground. No man can take it away.
On April 11,1969, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, also known as the Fair Housing Act. The Fair Housing Act was passed a week after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Minnie’s mind keeps spinning back in time.
Martha and Elliott are both accomplished pianists, entertaining their guests. Young lawyers eagerly meet with Alice’s father. There were times in the coolness of the evening, after a function, the lawyer sought Elliott out back, overlooking the ocean, to discuss about law—the birth of a new city and change.
Through the years, the citizens of Broward County, Florida, prosper. The landscape and ocean views transformed into places of tropical beauty under the sun. The band played on.

The phone rings. All week, Minnie’s mind focused on the Delray Beach election. She feels unrested. As she stretched out her arm, she reached for the DNV entrance door, slowly walking in.

The DNV greeter felt the hair standing up on the back of her neck with a fixed intent look that began to squirm under the penetrating scrutiny of Minnie.
One with a discerning spirit on previous entry after standing in line inquired into military tag procedures.
The greeter informed, I don’t know. According to a letter received from Washington, widows are entitled to some types of tag compensation degree.
Looking somewhat as lost, she stated, I don’t know,
directing her chin line to Minnie.
Minnie replied, It’s a good thing for you to know in your position.
Minnie’s head with her almond dark-blue eyes, scanned twenty-one stations, all mandated by women.
She thought, So who is running things who has the power?
Minnie was standing there, contemplating her next move, head tilted slightly to the left, her peripheral vision behind a heavyset woman with horn-rimmed glasses who was fast approaching. Minnie pretended not to notice, labored, (Respiration-audit).
With that damn skirt popping, she smiled to oneself, thinking out loud, Damn, she walks like me.
Minnie, stepping out, left heel pivots, starting the oncoming woman, She stopped and was face to face with her face. The woman spluttered. Ms. Abigail, supervisor,
in bold letters sprang out from her identification badge.
Once she caught her breath, she replied, We are looking into the military letters in reference to tags for widows. We have your information on file. As soon as we know, you will know too.
Ms. Abigail paused. "Observe many detached
Minnie replied, Thank you.
She gazed up at Minnie and said, Is this true, your third visit here?
