Mr. Barnett, Alice’s father, a lawyer, a scholar, and educator. If man took the time to listen and proceed with common sense. Mr. Elliott Barnett was a fighter for all men and women’s rights, regardless of race, creed, or color. Forever putting his hand forward for man to do the right thing; not one working for a spotlight, however on the ground floor.

The Civil Rights Act of 1968 is a landmark part of legislation in the United States that provided for equal housing opportunities for all mankind. It took the states and nation as a union to pass the legislation. The lawmakers on the ground floor assisted throughout the United States. It was a group united effort. They bonded together to do the right thing for the good of mankind. There is a true saying that a man works especially when it’s good and falls on good ground. No man can take it away.

On April 11,1969, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, also known as the Fair Housing Act. The Fair Housing Act was passed a week after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Minnie’s mind keeps spinning back in time.

Martha and Elliott are both accomplished pianists, entertaining their guests. Young lawyers eagerly meet with Alice’s father. There were times in the coolness of the evening, after a function, the lawyer sought Elliott out back, overlooking the ocean, to discuss about law—the birth of a new city and change.

Through the years, the citizens of Broward County, Florida, prosper. The landscape and ocean views transformed into places of tropical beauty under the sun. The band played on.
