It's a common belief that "the brain created consciousness!" However, if the brain created conscious, then the brain had to be unconscious prior to creating consciousness. This fact created a dilemma, which hasn't been resolved. The brain thought it was thoughtless while it was unable to think!
Complicating the problem further, the brain came up with the idea of needing consciousness while unconscious, which brought about a most critical but mostly unasked question: "How did an unconscious brain become conscious of being unconscious?" If the brain is the universe's ultimate authority, why the need for conscious in the first place? Nevertheless, for some unknown reason, an unconscious ancestral brain fabricated a metaphysical consciousness, which is to do its thinking!
Making matters worse, the ancestral brain not only established itself as the universe's intellectual power broker; it also created a universal hoax! A mortal brain created immortality even though it had indisputable evidence to the contrary. Being the universe's intellectual authority, the brain had to know all brains remain in the skull, following death, which makes eternity not only a hoax but also pointless; there's no one to populate the space.
All mankind, including the spiritually-based communities, believe the brain is the universe's intellectual authority. However, it's utterly irrational to believe the brain is the universe's intellect while believing in an eternal afterlife! If the brain is life's intellectual authority, then there is no eternal afterlife. If Christianity is true, then the brain cannot be the universe's intellectual authority.
Subsequently, Dr. Waggoner's book is a practical response to these contradictions. His theory delivers a new and convincing understanding of spirit being the source of conscious. We are responsible for life. In addition, the book emphasized our ability to transcend the biological mind. We "can do abundantly more than the brain can think, dream, or envision!" In other words, we can live confidently out of our minds.

Chapter 1
A Most Critical but Mostly Unasked Questions!
An Incidental Thought
If the brain is the source of consciousness, then Christianity is a delusion, a fantasy which the brain made up.
The thought dropped into my awareness while I was participating in an autopsy. As a consequence of the involuntary thought, I began investigating how an unconscious brain became conscious of being unconscious. The idea of the brain emitting consciousness has been investigated for decades, as a point of fact; our examination will follow the worn trails of previous researchers. Understand, up to this time, most exploration started and ended with the brain investigating itself, which, for all practical purposes, destroys objectivity. We’ll begin, however, by integrating the fields of science—neurology, physics, and psychology—with biblical truths, which makes it possible for us to expand our research beyond the brain’s physical limitations; in other words, living by faith frees us to live beyond our biological minds.
So let me begin by explaining how all this started!
The morning memo felt more like a warning: Report to the morgue. Dress in scrubs!
A haze of compliant grumblings swiftly blanketed the team. Psychiatric interns normally interact with patients who are breathing—not this rotation, however, as we are to participate in autopsies!
When we arrived at the morgue, the department head was waiting. This rotation will introduce a critical function of the neurological system,
he casually explained, particularly, how the receptors convert electrical-chemical impulses into feelings, moods, attitudes, and behaviors.
For the next several weeks, I, along with my peers, worked at expanding our knowledge
while cautiously concealing the emotional clumsiness we were experiencing with the rotation.
One morning, while excavating a brain, an incidental thought surfaced: The brain is still here!
At first, the thought drifted in and out of awareness, carrying little expectation, until it ignited what proved to be an unforgettable question: If the brain remains in the skull, after death, then who or what is appearing in the afterlife? Who’s answering to God?
I believe in eternity. Consequently, the incidental thought
exposed a contradiction that packed a lethal blow to eternity.
Belief in eternity, along with standing before God, is critical to the Christian faith, if not most spiritually-based communities! As a result of this conviction, death is perceived as the gateway to an eternal afterlife! On the other hand, mankind, including the spiritually based, is certain
that the brain is the universe’s intellectual authority,
that the brain is responsible for living life! However, how could the brain be accountable, stand in judgment for life, and at the same time remain in the skull after death? Unfortunately, our "universal certainty became
certainly lethal" to eternity. If the brain is responsible for life, eternity is a hoax!
Consequently, believing the brain is responsible proved to be incompatible with the Christian faith. How could the brain be responsible and not be the one standing before God? Either the brain isn’t responsible, or Christianity’s eternity is a delusion—a hoax created by the brain! This reality motivated the first, most critical, but mostly unasked, question: "Why would a mortal brain fabricate immortality?"
A surprising incidental thought forced a confrontation with a subject, which I had never considered: If the brain is responsible for life, then why isn’t it, following death, in eternity answering for its decisions?
By accepting the brain as life’s authority, we eradicate the spiritual communities’ doctrine of an eternal afterlife. On the other hand, if we are a neurological activity, then there is no need for an afterlife in the first place.
The Lethal Certainty
Mankind, including people of faith, believes the brain not only discharged conscience, but the brain also designated itself the universe’s intellectual authority. As a result of this tradition, I had lived as if I was a mental activity—a neurological interaction made all my decisions. It also interpreted the consequences of those decisions. I’d never asked, Who lives life?
since I had lived, comfortably, with the idea of all authority being compartmentalized inside the brain! Living by this default setting, however, not only limits life but also reduces our character, personality, attitudes, and behaviors to a chemical-based cellular reaction; in other words, a three-pound chunk of meat controls our destiny.
Something unforgettable happened in the morgue: a small bit of common sense revealed a colossal blunder in judgment. In truth, the biological reality, which the incidental thought
forced into awareness, compelled an in-depth evaluation of the brain’s presumptive authority! Beginning with conceiving a problem where it had been inconceivable, if the brain is life’s authority, then why would it fabricate eternity when it had indisputable evidence confirming the contrary? The brain knew the location of all brains unless surgically removed, they remain in the skull, following death! No brain has ever evacuated a corpse on its own! For the first time, I realized how utterly irrational to believe the brain is responsible for life while simultaneously believing in an eternal afterlife! This fact not only reduced eternity to an irrelevant idea; it also wedged a deadly contradiction between the brain’s authority and its judgment.
Accordingly, if the brain is the universe’s intellectual power broker, then at some point in the distant past, an ancestral brain, for some reason, which it never documented, made up eternity. Never mind that the ancestor had unquestionable proof that all brains remain in the skull following death, which makes eternity not only pointless but also a poisonous idea since nothing exists especially for the brain, after its last neurological activity. In spite of the knowledge, the ancestor played out its deception through every subsequent generation, making all brains coconspirators.
A Revolutionary Perspective
Although I had assumed life with all its complexities would be worked out in the end, however, the impact of the incidental thought on my idea of eternity was immeasurable. For starters, I realized if the brain is in charge, life’s a dead-end occurrence. Additionally, the incidental thought
also exposed the brain’s paradoxical relationship with accountability. Until the morgue, my understanding of who was responsible for living life had been settled—absent any reviews, analysis, or investigations—until the incidental thought
exposed the deception! Remember, I thought the brain was in charge; the brain lives life! How had I missed it since it’s ordinary knowledge that the brain remains in its bony bunker after death? I realized that I had advocated a life of hopefulness based on a hopeless reality. If the brain is responsible, then everything is hopelessly terminal. The brain’s closing act terminates each human; nothing exists, as there is no eternity.
I, along with most, had never taken this common knowledge seriously. We should have realized the consequences. If the brain is in charge, then eternity is an illusion. If Christianity is true, then the brain cannot be the universe’s intellectual authority. We can’t have it both ways! I could have thought about these consequences previously, but I hadn’t. Until the morgue, I’d lived as if I was a whimsical instinct of a creature’s brain, which would never afford me a reason to conceive a problem. Not only I but also mankind, in general, had stopped wondering about who is responsible for living life. If we ever thought, it wasn’t who’s in charge
since it was a foregone conclusion that the brain was.
Although the field has been investigating the neurological foundation of conscious for hundreds of years, we’ll begin with the ancestral brain’s inclination to mislead. Why create conscious or invent an eternity with a make-believe community of mystical beings! We, spirits, exist; however, when we refer to our existence, it’s always as, my spirit,
which signifies we’re lost in the flesh. In other words, we live under the brain’s authority.
Living Lost
I don’t know you,
Jesus declared, revealing the hopelessness of being alive while lacking knowledge of who’s actually living life.
Following His conversation about good fruit coming only from good trees,
Jesus revealed the devastation of living spiritually comatose or lost in the flesh.
He continued, In the end of time, when accounts are being settled, some will be surprised! Even though they have acknowledged My name, they’ll not enter My eternal kingdom!
Hearing that, the shocked listeners began numerating their accomplishments, pointing out that all of their efforts were completed in Jesus’s name.
Jesus responded with an analysis of their deeds:
It’s true, noble works were completed, great missions were engaged, and grand revivals were launched, but you were not mindful of the authority behind the actions. You didn’t know that you had abandoned your authority. You were actually missing out because you had failed to recognize that your old nature (me) was living life! My name was being used, but it wasn’t for my glory. It was all a cover for the brain’s selfish agenda to expand me’s social status. (Matthew 7:21–23; author’s)
Unaware of what was driving their decisions, Jesus accused the listeners of living in a spiritual coma
! He pointed to the audience’s failure to distinguish their presences; the brain was living life for them. They were alive, but they were missing in action. The spirit children of God became lost in the brains’ cellular system—alive but living lost in the flesh.
Jesus clearly indicated that something other than the brain would appear before God. We, Father’s spirit children, are the conscious ones; we are the intellectual authority, and we’re the ones who’ll appear in eternity.
A few decades later, the apostle Paul declared the same idea:
Don’t you know that you, spirits, will appear before God, answering for how the brain’s memorized me lived life, whether good or bad, even though you thought the brain was responsible? (2 Corinthians 5:10; author’s)
As a consequence, knowing who enters eternity is essential to living an effective earth life since we, and not the brain, will enter eternity.
Incredible as it sounds, something other than the brain actually lives life. I, like all those shocked souls standing before Jesus, had been living in a spiritual coma. Alive but missing in action—I, the spirit child of God, the conscious one—was lost in the flesh. I had unknowingly granted the brain unlimited power to make my choices even though it will never be held accountable for those choices. All the same, the brain had free reign to organize my
pursuits to develop my
relationships and to apply my
skills without any consideration of my
interests, abilities, or emotional gifts. Although forced to confront the mindlessness which had, until the morgue, restricted my life, the confrontation did more than exposing the ancestor’s fraud; it also revealed the foolishness of advocating an eternal afterlife while living as if we’re a terminal brain. What a tragedy, never mind the fact that I will be held accountable for life, regardless if I knew of my existence or ever exercised my authority. Like I had been, many believers remain! However, armed with the most critical but mostly unasked question, Who lives life?
we have both time and opportunity to uncover the truth—the truth that’ll set us free,
free to live our lives, free to live beyond the brain’s memorized me. In other words, free to live confidently out of our mind
!
Chapter 2
DNA’S Dazzling Delusion
Alone in the Universe
The field, along with all mankind, including the spiritually-based communities, believes the brain lives life. Accordingly, the brain defines our place in the universe, institutes our values, determines our intentions, as well as describes how and what we feel, taste, and hear. As a result of this belief, conscious (the ability to think, focus, etc.) is a neurological activity, which the brain discharges. In other words, a mental emission is the universe’s intellectual authority. The field’s efforts to establish the brain as the fountain of consciousness proved exasperating, however! Beginning with the fact that all research into conscious is carried out by the brain, consequently, if the brain is researching the brain, objectivity is compromised! For that reason, knowing how conscious evolved remains neurology’s hard problem.
Complicating the problem further is the fact that the brain thought it needed consciousness while it was unconscious, which brought about the third most critical but mostly unasked question: How did the ancestral brain realize its deficiency?
The ancestor, according to the field, thought it was thoughtless while it was unable to think! On the other hand, if the brain is the universe’s ultimate authority, why the need at all? Nevertheless, for some unknown reason, an unconscious brain fabricated a metaphysical consciousness, which will think for the brain that thought it needed it. Adding to the confusion, the ancestor also invented a metaphysical eternity along with a metaphysical god to which the brain, in the end, decided to surrender all its authority.
The Biological Foundation of Conscious
Regardless of the ancestor’s motivation, the field convinced the brain-secreted conscious continued searching for the biological underpinning of consciousness. Without conscious, mankind would be like all other creatures—all have brains but only the human is conscious. Thinks! Pressured by this reality, the field labored, unremittingly, at uncovering how the human brain thinks; they were searching not only to uncover how the brain created conscious, but also why it needed a separate, or metaphysical, conscious in the first place.
Initially, the field theorized unconscious deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) discharged conscious. DNA is the molecular foundation of all living creatures; it transports the life form’s blueprint, forecasting stature, gender, shape, skin, traits, weight, height, even facial contours. However, no one knows how, or why, DNA arrived in the universe; it seemed to have existed before it all started. Regardless, DNA is matter, the field reasoned. Matter has weight. With this understanding, the field theorized, If conscious emerged from DNA, then conscious could have weight.
They speculated, once death occurs and conscious has vacated, the body’s weight should fluctuate. Excited by this idea, they designed a research for weighing conscious. First was securing a hospital ward, which was stocked with beds equipped with special scales proficient in detecting subatomic deviations. The research subjects were terminal patients. Each subject was assigned a bed outfitted with a special scale. Once activated, the scales supplied a constant flow of data documenting each patient’s weight fluctuation, including hydration, nutrition, and elimination, even a staff’s accidental brushing of the bed. As the subject’s expired, the scales continued recording, keeping record of the patient’s weight before, during, and after death. After each patient passed, the team collected and correlated the data. The outcome was definitive: the body weighed the same with conscious, as it did without. Consequently, the research concluded, conscious is immeasurable; it has no weight, mass, volume, or substance! Although a certain consciousness existed, the research suggested conscious doesn’t have weight; as a consequence, the research indicated consciousness didn’t emerge from DNA. Consciousness is a metaphysical event. Nevertheless, with that outcome, the field continued. They devised an experiment to isolate conscious to a specific organ or function.
Searching for the Living—Among the Dead!
Something lives life; it animates the inanimate. At death, this liveliness vanishes, leaving the organism lifeless. The only immediate change at death is conscious; the living in life
disappears. Following their idea that conscious evolved from DNA, the field proposed, comparing a dead body’s organic condition to that body’s organic condition prior to death, the variation should reveal the function, or activity, which was present prior to death but absent after death. The research could uncover the biological foundation of conscious. Once again, the research subjects were selected from patients with inoperable diagnoses. Each patient’s biological condition was thoroughly examined and documented. As each patient passed, a second examination was performed, including an autopsy, during which the body’s pre-death condition was compared to its post-death analysis. For a short period, following death, the body remains unchanged. First, noting the heart and lungs were the initial biological functions to cease, the field summarized the obvious: the heart-lung function is critical to consciousness. In time, however, the hypothesis was dismissed! The invention of the heart-lung machine exposed the proposition’s weak point: the living in life,
or conscious remained in the body even though the heart and lungs were not only stopped but removed! The results required the field to pursue a more relevant outcome. Although the initial results were disappointing, the field uncovered
