About this ebook

Most have heard of Moses, who delivered the Ten Commandments; however, few have heard of Zipporah, his Midianite wife.

Love in the Shadow of Mount Horeb tells of the powerful love between them! It is her story which allows us to see Moses through the eyes and heart of the woman who knew him as her husband and passionate lover. She openly shares their intimate hours together and the secret of how they never allowed their lovemaking to become dull.

Has your marriage become dull, lifeless? Has the fire that once burned fervently cooled to ashes? Ladies, Zipporah will stir your appetite for your husband. Men, Moses will help you discover ways to thrill your wife.

Zipporah shares the moment she discovered Moses was as passionate for her as she was for him; the way it could have been...

"His strong arms embraced me as I placed my hands on his shoulders and dismounted. My heart was racing wildly! I had never been this close to Moses--or any other man besides Father for that matter. I stumbled slightly, and he hastily reached out for me again to steady me. This time, he did not release his hold on me, and immediately I reached up and placed my arms around his neck.

"Without words being spoken, I instantly knew Moses felt as I felt. The months of secret love and the days of restraining our emotions erupted uncontrollably in the solitude of this mountain."

    About the Author

    Introduction

Throughout the ages, man has accepted Moses as one of the greatest leaders in the world. He was a man who led an entire nation out of the hands of the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt, delivered them from over four hundred years of slavery, and led this great number to a land that was only a promise.

Historians teach us the daughter of Pharaoh was the adoptive mother of Moses. She may well have been the famous Queen Hatshepsut, who later assumed the throne of Egypt. Acts 7:22 verifies Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in word and deed. The tablets of Tell el-Amarna show the extensive writing ability during the time of Moses. It is thought the young prince could write in Egyptian hieroglyphics, Akkadian cuneiform, alphabetic cruciform, and Ugaritic, which was almost identical to Hebrew.

However, this book allows us to see Moses through the eyes and heart of his wife, Zipporah, who knew him as her husband, her passionate lover, and the father of their two sons. She openly shares their intimate hours together and the secret of how they never allowed their lovemaking to become dull.

Have you allowed your marriage to become dull, lifeless? Has the fire that once burned fervently cooled to ashes? Well, maybe there is a little spark of fire that flies out of the ashes occasionally. Ladies, Zipporah will stir your appetite for the husband of your youth. Men, Moses may help you discover ways to thrill your bride!

Growing up as a child, I can remember when the winters were so cold, and we sat around the wood stove to keep warm. Occasionally Mother would say, The fire is getting low; I must stir the fire.

I say to you who are married: Stir the fire!

    Chapter 1

    The Great Light

Standing just inside the tent door, I could see a great brightness illuminating all of Mount Horeb. As I stared intently at this unfamiliar sight, my deepest concern was Moses is shepherding my father's sheep in this very location!

What is this light? Never had I seen such a sight! Not only was it bright, but also it appeared many times brighter than the desert sun, yet I could look toward it without hurting my eyes! What overwhelmed me was the warmth I felt as this light appeared to engulf me inwardly and outwardly.

Hurriedly, I ran to my sister's tent, explaining this great urgency. She agreed to care for our two sons, Gershom and Eliezer, while I rushed to Mount Horeb.

Grabbing my cloak-like veil to prevent the desert sun from burning and further darkening what Moses described as the most beautiful skin ever, I quickly mounted one of the donkeys and rode swiftly toward Mount Horeb.

Traveling the well-worn path, my heart was warmed with sweet memories of the day I first met my beloved Moses. It was a day such as today, beautiful, with a light breeze blowing. My six sisters and I approached the well to water our father's sheep, but the local shepherds, callous toward female shepherdesses and greedy to water their flocks first, pushed the seven of us aside. This was an everyday occurrence for us. But this day, from seemingly out of nowhere, this handsome man with polished mannerisms and dressed in the garb of a high Egyptian official appeared.

Just the sight of him at this well seemed very puzzling. I questioned inwardly why a man of his stature would be this far from Egypt. He approached the well and, in an authoritative voice, commanded the ruthless shepherds to remove themselves from the mouth of the well. The male shepherds obliged without argument. We sisters stood in awe as this handsome man stepped forward and proceeded to draw water for our thirsty sheep.

Being the oldest, I walked forward and thanked him for his kindness. He bowed low and introduced himself to my sisters and me. I could feel my chest pounding and was sure he could hear the loud thumping of my heart. But if he did, being a perfect gentleman, he kept it well concealed. As a gesture of gratitude for assisting us, we invited him to our family's tent to meet our parents.

Our father, Jethro, welcomed this stranger after hearing how he defended his daughters. He encouraged Moses to have dinner with our family and to stay the night in our camp. That evening, as I served hot tea to Father and Moses, I lingered nearby so I could listen to every word Moses spoke.

He explained how he had been educated in the finest of Egyptian schools and was the adopted son of Pharaoh's daughter. I remember thinking to myself, What did he just say? Did I hear him say he was a Hebrew by birth and not a true Egyptian? My heart skipped a beat for joy.

The expressive smile on Father's face told me he too was pleased to learn Moses was a Hebrew. Though my people are not Israelites, we are descendants of Abraham through Midian, the fourth son of Abraham and his second wife, Keturah. As high priest of the Midianites, my father taught us to follow the Word of the Lord according to the teachings of Father Abraham.

Father informed Moses if he had no other accommodations, he was welcome to remain with our family and help with the sheep. And Moses accepted the invitation.

As days developed into weeks and the weeks turned into months, I seized every opportunity, when tending the flocks or taking care of household duties, to be near Moses. But it seemed my giggling sisters were always with me, so we were never alone.

Occasionally, my eyes would lock with
