Timeless Collection - September Rose
Alone
Another sleepless night finds me wide awake with many thoughts roaming through my mind. The clock has passed the midnight hour, and it is so quiet in this house that one can actually hear a pin drop.
My dark bedroom is filled with silvery moonlight that shines through my curtains, creating a ghostly translucence. October wind blows a strong breeze to where I can hear the rustling of the leaves on the swaying trees.
I pace the floor with a glass of Zinfandel in my hand, for every now and then, I look out the window. There is not much to see except for a night sky filled with stars and the radiance of a large full moon.
My restlessness comes from missing my handsome love for he is away, far away. And I cannot hold him, kiss him, or touch him. All I can do at the moment is think about him and wish that he were here, snuggled close to me on a lonely night like this.
American Soil
I came into this world during the early 1970s, for I was born in a hospital here in the United States. I was taken home, by the family who loved me, in a time when our country still possessed most of its freedoms.
The school that educated me as a child required all the students to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance each morning before the start of our lessons. Discipline and respect for the important elements of life were the main priorities, and we were taught well.
Dreamers and thinkers were smiled upon by those who understood that these were the seeds that would grow a future harvest of wonderful accomplishments. Uniqueness was something that was celebrated as each individual brought different gifts and talents to the world’s table.
During times of war, soldiers expressed their goodbyes to loved ones before they went off to fight, not knowing if they would ever return to this land. In spite of their fears, these brave men carried out their duty and followed the orders that were given to them by the officers who were in command.
Belief in the Almighty God filled the hearts and minds of the majority of the people who were living in our country. Freedom of religion gave safety and security to families who wanted to raise their children right according to the Ten Commandments.
Later on, other ideas came into play; and piece by piece, things got taken away. In their place, other things were added. A change here, and a change there, etc. Sacrifices were made in order to accommodate those who despise our overall way of life.
I am an American, and I deeply appreciate my freedom. I will continue to dwell in the upbringing of a time when society lived by a better moral code and when faith, decency, and patriotism reigned supreme on American soil.
Antlers
It is a season of transition, and the landscape has been painted in careful detail with the brush and palette of autumn. Hunters venture out into the wild to capture their desired trophies and take them home.
He stands tall and proud in the midst of the surrounding trees. Under his hooves, the ground is covered under a blanket of leaves.
The stance of this buck is picture-perfect, and he does not make a sound. However, the mere look in his eyes reflects an intelligence that most people would disregard.
In our time of need, his kind provides us with sustenance to satisfy our hunger. With humility and respect, we must eat from the land and give thanks for that which has been given.
This creature is beautiful for he is the patriarch of his family. He earned his points over time and,
