About this ebook

There was a young teenage girl, Jessica, who felt something missing in her life. During this time, she often visited a cliff called the Majestic. She felt closer to something each time she went to look out over the ocean. One evening, she had an argument with her mother and ran off to her favorite place for an escape from her pain. Later that same evening, she discovered ancient relics where she sat. She decidedly went to get the help of her friend Matteo.

Jessica returned to the Majestic with her friend Matteo to retrieve the objects she discovered. Upon her return home, she discovered her mother pacing in the kitchen and police cars around her home. Nervous, she asked her friend to stay out of sight so she could convince her mother to ask the police to leave.

The next day, Jessica and Matteo took the items to their science teacher, Mrs. Panthera, who told stories of peculiar expeditions she took many years earlier. The teacher seemed unusually interested in the items brought to her. Soon, the reason for the unusual interest was revealed.

Jessica encountered Soneya, who was a member of an ancient science-based civilization located below the floor of the Atlantic basin. Jessica was mesmerized by her abilities and knowledge. She introduced Soneya to both her mother and teacher. The true adventure began when she learned of her teacher’s mysterious past.

The journey started when the group ventured to an island that had never been found on a map. A vortex formed in the central portion of the island, and the group was transported below the ocean floor, where Jessica meets an unusually familiar man. Many revelations were learned by Jessica, which included the fact that the mysterious man was her lost father and an ancient scientist.

Jessica and her companions returned home and discovered Jessica’s mother was kidnapped. Mrs. Panthera had knowledge of her location and decidedly led the group to a military base. The realization of the kidnapping as a ploy to bring Soneya to the base for capture becomes evident as the soldiers encroach upon Jessica and Soneya’s location. A confrontation between the soldiers and leaders of the base with Soneya brings out Jessica’s true inner power and the discovery of her true self.

    The Beginning

Jessica was screaming at her mother. Mother, why do you always have to ruin my fun!

You are only fourteen, Jessica, Kyra Cove said, and you have no business being out so late with that boy Matteo. Do you have any idea what could happen to you if a stranger approached you and took you away? I just can’t deal with losing you like we lost your father.

Why do you always bring him up? Stop saying he’s dead. He’s not dead. He will come through that door again—just wait and see. Jessica sternly looked at her mother, grimacing to fight back her tears.

Now see here, missy, don’t you take that tone with me. I’m still your mother.

Jessica sighed. I’m not taking a tone with you, Mother. You always do this, saying what you think I’m thinking.

Where are you going? Kyra looked worried and wondered if she went too far.

I’m going away from you, Mother. Jessica grabbed her art bag and scurried out of the back door. She stomped her way to the street while talking to herself. Why does she always do that? I’m not a baby anymore, but she always treats me like one. Dad… Jessica looked at the stars with tears in her eyes. Please come home. We need you. Where are you?

She started to sob softly. The cool night mist caressed her face and created small swirls behind her as she walked through the night air. She passed under each streetlamp that lit the street with a yellow hue and pretended to play hopscotch. One, one two, one…Jessica suddenly remembered her teacher, Mrs. Panthera, and her stories about the adventures in discovering ancient ruins and the artifacts within each cave and pyramid. She wished she could go on an adventure like her just to get away for a while.

Thoughts swam around Jessica’s head like a roller coaster, then suddenly she remembered Mrs. Panthera’s stories about the way one of the civilizations lived and their people. She desperately tried to remember how the story progressed, but it was all hazy. Although she could still see the passion in Mrs. Panthera’s face with every story she told, especially about the one she would repeat with every class, there was always some new twist or something amazing Mrs. Panthera had forgotten to mention. Jessica admired her more with every tale, wondering if her father could be on an adventure of his own. Maybe that was why he was taking so long to come home—he was just waiting to make sure he had a lot of stories to tell her.

Jessica arrived at the entrance of her favorite cliff called the Majestic, the long, thick blades of grass swaying in the cool breeze inviting her. They were so feathery-looking. I wish they were as soft as they look, she thought to herself and smiled broadly. She paused for a moment, surprised at how little time it seemed to take to get to her paradise as she looked out over the lush blue-green grass swaying gently in the oceanic breeze. She saw the edge where the land ended, as it represented the marker to the ocean beyond its borders. The ocean was active tonight. She closed her eyes and listened to the waves collapse onto the rocks below. Jessica took a deep breath, pretending the waves were surrounding her as she inhaled slowly. She tasted the salty air as though each granule danced on her tongue.

Soon she felt relaxed and walked to the grand oak tree, which was a few feet away from the edge of the cliff, and put her art bag at the tree’s base. She walked back to the edge of the cliff to continue studying the watery dance below. A few moments passed as she gazed up toward the moon, its brilliant light glowing off the serene, rippling water in the distance.

This would make a great drawing. As she thought about the images she wanted to put on her sketch pad, she took in another deep breath.

Jessica quickly walked back to the tree and grabbed her sketch pad, pencils, and colors. She walked back to the edge of the cliff and sat with her legs drawn close to her body like a table and began to sketch the moonlit scene. She felt the tension retreat with every stroke of her pencil, and peacefulness and calmness fell over her. Time passed, and Jessica warily looked at her jeweled watch on her wrist and gasped.

How could it be midnight? she thought. Oh no! Mom is probably freaking out by now. I better get home right now before she calls the police or something.

Jessica got up quickly and rushed back to her art bag to put her supplies away. She moved her bag to the side to get a better angle to put her sketch pad away and then suddenly saw a glint of something shining in the moonlight. It looked like a nickel or a dime or maybe a quarter. She began to unearth her find. It wasn’t a nickel or a dime, but jewelry.

She begun to get frantic as the
