About this ebook

The Eyes of the Beholder is a rare gem because author Naomi Gordon's stories took place in the early twentieth century. Naomi's selection of words uniquely displays poetic charm to true life events. The stories come alive as if you're watching a movie. Naomi's father came to her in a dream and told her that her inheritance is in the "book." Little did she know that he was talking about her story writing. Naomi read her stories to her children as they grew up, not knowing that her stories were going to be published in a book. Her stories are filled with excitement, mystery, and suspense, which can later be transformed to movie theaters, Broadway plays, Netflix originals, Hulu originals, and other movie platforms. While reading her stories to six of her children, they became her audience and then decided to start putting her stories on paper.Naomi was above and beyond in her writing abilities. Naomi was able to capture every life experience in detail that she has seen through her hazel eyes. Words came to her in a form of rhymes for each story that she wrote. As she placed a calligraphy pen with black ink to a parchment paper, words were coming to her mind faster than she could write. This caused her to continue to write many events that took place in her life. This is a treat in itself to read. The Eyes of the Beholder will entertain you from the beginning to the end with great true life stories that seem unbelievable.Naomi has the ability of memorizing paragraphs and has mastered in the English vocabulary, which attributed to her writing skills. Naomi has a photographic memory as she remembered each and every story through each step of her life. Naomi also remembered every nursery rhyme, which she recited to her grandchildren. There have been many disappointments in her life, but through her faith in God, she was able to shake them off. Naomi hopes that readers will capture a part of their life that no one else has seen. What stories have you captured that are memorable? Maybe you will be able to understand where you are in your life now from your past.

The Eyes of the Beholder - Naomi Gordon

    Junior

He was a young lad who lived on our block,

And he was a copycat, a follower of the older flock.

One day an older man saw him grabbing onto the back of a truck, getting a ride,

The older man yelled out to him, No! Stop! Behave! Don’t do it! because he saw it was plain suicide.

And the young lad yelled back to him, Mind your own business, old man!

The old man turned to his son and told him to go get him and bring him back to me to tan.

And his son did as he was told and brought the boy back, and the boy cried and cried,

And the old man, his next-door neighbor, sat down on a box inside and put the boy over his knee and tanned sore his Hyde.

The neighbor whipped him sore and let him go, and the boy cried and cried and yelled and said, "Just wait until my mother comes home,

I’m going to tell her, and the marks on my body will show."

My father watched and patiently waited after that,

Until he saw the boy’s mother come home, then he quickly sped next door and went upstairs to his Mother’s flat.

And my father told Junior’s mother what took place,

And she thanked him kindly and did him embrace.

The following week thereafter, they moved away,

Junior grew up to be a fine young man and joined the army. Hooray, hooray!

The next thing, he popped up in front of my father’s house all dressed up in an army suit,

The only other thing he needed was a flute.

    Much to my father’s surprise,

He came back just to apologize.

    My Neighbor

And she went to church at night, and she put on an act,

All the while she cheated behind her husband’s back.

Who knows what she was thinking? It was absurd,

Had she no conscious, my word?

What gall she had to pretend to be someone she was not,

It appeared she tried to play a losing game of art.

She tried to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes,

But she was outwitted and was caught full of lies.

Then my neighbor went to a bar, played up to a man, and at the end tried to duck, escape, and run,

And the man saw her and shot her with his gun.

    The Air Raid Drill

Earlier in the day, all the townsfolk were warned that there was going to be a bomb attack,

And they were told come night fall that they were going to give an air raid drill to prepare for the real event act.

Now all the pedestrians were briefed to stay perfectly still,

It was a practice but a very important air raid drill.

Above all, everyone was warned to stay indoors,

To prevent from being a target or a casualty of war.

The air raid wardens also stated that if everyone their instructions obeyed,

There would be no need to be fearful or afraid.

Now when it began to turn dark, air raid wardens on every door began to knock,

Thus, the air raid wardens kept on the move all night long, and they made sure all houses were dark in every block.

Only air raid wardens were outside and about, observing the sky and looking for to see the enemy’s plane,

But no sight of it in view ever came.

However, searching bright lights flashed in the sky back and forth, looking for the foe,

Who couldn’t enter our security to carry out their threats of woe?

Now some air raid wardens walked back and forth and kept watching the sky,

Others rode in jeeps and blew whistles back and forth, signaling all was well and passed each other by.

Furthermore, if anyone was found walking in the street,

They were called a public offender, and they would be fined pretty steep.

Fortunately, during the air raid drill, there weren’t any incidences. The threats of attack were all false alarms,

And there were no call to arms.

Then at the stroke of midnight, the air raid drill came to an end,

And all was well and back to normal again.

The air raid drill was a complete success.

    The Bank Robber

Around the corner earlier this morning, a bank was robbed, and the thief on foot fled,

Immediately thereafter, police cars screeched all around, and police sirens screamed, and bright red spotlights flashed back and forth
