About this ebook

I love to do crafts and creative projects. I love spending time with my two daughters. I was looking for a way to create special memories with them at Christmastime and teach them about the true meaning of Christmas. We had so much fun doing this together. My girls looked forward to it every night. They couldn't wait to do it again the next year. I hope this book will do the same for other children.

What is Christmas Anyway? - Sherry Jones

    December 1

    You Were Made to Shine!

Have you heard of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen? Of course, you have! And I am sure you have heard about Rudolph too, right?

Santa had eight normal reindeer and one weird one. Or maybe he had eight ordinary reindeer and one special one. It depends on how you look at it. Rudolph was different or weird because his nose glowed. When they were playing reindeer games and practicing how to pull the sleigh, the glowing nose made him different. On Christmas Eve, when it was foggy and no one could see, that same glowing nose made him special, not weird or different.

The other reindeer saw the glowing nose as something to make fun of, but Santa saw it as a special solution to a big problem. What made Rudolph different or weird to the other reindeer, made him special to Santa.

Do you know that God sees you like Santa saw Rudolph? Kids or other people may find a reason to tease you because you are not just like them. God doesn’t think that makes you weird—He thinks it makes you special. It is okay to be like everyone else if they are doing the right thing. Sometimes, however, God makes us to shine.

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

Point: What makes you different makes you special.

    Choose an activity:

Watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and talk about what makes each of your kids special and how we should treat people.

Make a Rudolph out of a candy cane, pipe-cleaner antlers, eyes, and a red nose.

Identify someone at school who is different and make a list of ways you
