Reviews for Soldier Athletes

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ted Williams, Rocky Bleier, Carlos May and Pat Tillman stories are shared in this chapter book. The four men were athletes in baseball. Although all four had different paths to their professional sport careers the common denominator was war. Williams served in WWII, Bieier and May served during Vietnam and Tillman in Afghanistan. All men were athletes because they were passionate and worked very hard in getting into the professional level. But, they also were registered with military. The story of these men brings up cultural, economic, community and civic duty that could be discussed in a classroom. The book is not very eye appealing and may not be a book that kids pic up, but something that could be done in class as supplement to lesson.
