The Man the Most Attractive - Dr.King

A quick recap of Part 2

In Part 2 of this series we discussed various incidents that happened during the childhood of Krishna as well as those that happened as he grew up. Many of these stories were awe inspiring and sometimes mystical.

Most importantly we discussed the following episodes.

Episode 1. Krishna – A darling of cowherd girls

Krishna was hardly 6-7-year-old. But he had already performed several miracles and won the admiration of innocent cowherds in Vrindavan. He had also become the darling of young cowherd girls who started secretly dreaming about having him as their husband! This episode narrates one such incident.

Episode 2. Was Krishna a flirtatious boy?

There are many stories in the Bhagavata that paint Krishna as a flirtatious person. That has provided food for many later day poets to romanticize Krishna.

Was that the real purpose of Vyasa – the author of Bhagavata? This episode tries to give an alternate interpretation of a seemingly flirtatious act of Krishna from a much deeper philosophic perspective.

Episode 3. Kamsa invites Krishna to Mathura!

Krishna’s maternal uncle Kamsa always tried to kill Krishna since he feared death in his hands. Instead of openly attacking Krishna, Kamsa kept sending his close associates to deal with Krishna.

But when all of them failed to accomplish their task, Kamsa had no option but to confront Krishna openly. So, finally he invited Krishna to Mathura in the garb of participating in a religious ritual.

    Episode 4. Krishna in Mathura

This episode discusses the happenings in Mathura when Krishna went there. Kamsa had setup several traps to kill Krishna. But Krishna escapes all of them and finally kills Kamsa.

Episode 5. Mathura after Kamsa’s death

After killing Kamsa, Krishna installs his maternal grandfather Ugrasena on the throne of Mathura and tries to bring back normalcy.

Episode 6. Yadavas migrate to Dwarika

Kamsa’s father-in-law Jarasandha was quite furious that his son-in-law was killed by Krishna. So, he attacked Mathura with an intention to wipeout the complete Yadava clan to which Krishna belonged. But he failed to do much harm.

When Jarasandha repeatedly kept invading Mathura, to avoid unnecessary loss of life, Krishna left Mathura and migrated to a far-off island Dwarika along with his people. He set up a new Kingdom in Dwarika with Ugrasena as the King.

    Episode 7. Krishna-Rukmini: A strange love story

As days passed, Krishna had grown up as a handsome youth. The princess of Vidarbha, namely Rukmini, fell in love with Krishna and wanted to marry him against the wishes of her elder brother.

This episode narrates this interesting love story between Krishna and Rukmini.

Episode 8. Krishna accused of stealing a Gem!

This episode describes an unfortunate incident in which Krishna was accused of killing someone for the sake a rare divine gem. Finally, Krishna succeeds in absolving himself of the blame.

For the rest of the story, continue reading the next episodes in this part.

Episode 1. A typical day in Krishna’s life!

F:\my_books\amazon\am_ancient_wisdom\cover_design\cover_logo_old.jpg Krishna has left behind his naughty childhood days. And also, the playful youthful days. He was a mature person now, married and also with several children. Though he was not the King, for all practical purposes, he worked like the representative of aging King Ugrasena – his maternal grand father.

Have you ever wondered how a King or Prime minister or President of a country spends his typical day? Here is a short snap shot that Vyasa provides.

Krishna’s day starts very early, two hours before the Sun rise. This is called Brahmi Muhurta and is considered to be very auspicious. Religious people make it a point to get up at that time. It is the time when the birds start chirping and probably some cocks start crowing. It is the time when the mind is fresh and conducive to any modulation. It is the time when a studious student is expected to get up. Well, I am talking about those days when there was no internet and other distractions that kept people awake till late in the night ;-)

When describing this typical daily routine, Vyasa becomes a bit mischievous.  He says that the wives of Krishna who were asleep hugging Krishna, would start cursing the chirping birds and even the gentle morning breeze, since they are reluctant to
