“The romance was delightful . . . I would recommend The Heir the Prince Secures by Jennie Lucas, if you enjoy second chance romances, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Kate Hewitt, Lynne Graham, Abby Green and Maya Blake.” —Harlequin Junkie

Tropes/themes: virgin heroine, secret baby, hero royalty, heroine servant/poor, marriage of convenience, hero cruel

"My dreams always come true." Stefano cupped her face in both his hands. "I always win, like Moretti said. I take wat I want, at any price. And what I want--" he slowly lowered his mouth to hers "--is you."

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand I really loved it--the cruel and unfeeling hero and the sweet and innocent heroine who only wants love. That was done very well I thought. There were some great scenes between them like impulsive shagging in the hallway at their wedding. Um, yeah, that was hot.

The main thing I think that wasn't transitioned smoothly with the romance was the character's goals. The hero wanted this luxury fashion brand his father sold back and the heroine's goals were kind of confusing. She wanted to be a fashion designer but was naive to what it would cost her with her family. She also wanted love and to be a family with Stefano. I'm all for women having careers they love, but I found it was too much for her character and made her seem less than that sweet heroine I like and more like someone who want material success especially after that scene she pulled with wearing on of her designs at the fashion show.

And so much of the couple's time was spent away from the baby. The heroine wanted love and a family, yet she didn't fight to not have a nanny and to look after her own child on hero own. This was because her underlying goal was to be a fashion designer not be a mother and to be loved by her husband. So it didn't feel right to be when she left Stefano and made a successful brand for herself. Like the goal for love wasn't true. She made a big speech about love yet she didn't fight for Stefano.

I wish this was focused more on the family and love aspect between the hero and heroine and less on the fashion part of story. It was still a decent read and I enjoyed it a lot.
