1 Introduction to the Raspberry Pi
1.1 What is a Raspberry Pi?
A Raspberry Pi is a kind of mini PC that consists of only one board with a processor and a few connectors. You can use it to perform basic functions, but most importantly to learn how to use computer technology, programming, and electronics. The Raspberry Pi Foundation has launched this single-board computer. This foundation is a non-profit organization founded in the United Kingdom whose goal is to teach people about computers and make computer education more accessible.
In 2012, the Raspberry Pi Foundation had launched its first Raspberry Pi model. The development of the Raspberry Pi has not stopped since then, and several updated versions and variants have been added to the product portfolio since then. The first Raspberry Pi model was quite modestly equipped with a 700 MHz single-core processor and 256 MB of RAM. The latest model consists of a quad-core CPU with a clock speed of over 1.5 GHz and 4 GB of RAM.
