And The Unicorn You Rode In On

As the faerie warrior on my back (aka the big doofus) rides past another warning sign under the blazing sun without turning back or at least commenting, I shake my single-horned head in dismay. Though of course I expected no better of him.

After all, the dope still doesn't know how to read...which makes it all the more ironic that his name is Ballad. I don't think he knows what a ballad is, even in an abstract sense.

He's just lucky that I can read, as all unicorns can, or he would have been dead long ago. I can't tell you how many times I've kept him from riding right past signs that say Apache Territory or Beware of Quicksand or Danger: Cliff Ahead.

But I let him keep riding today, because he's taking me where I want to go. So what if the rickety signs along the desert pass say things like NO FAIRYS! or POINTY EARS NOT WUNTED HEAR or FAIRY CRITTERS WILL BE SHOTT ON SITE.

    The town of Desperation, Arizona
