Kelsey returns home to Oregon, where Mr. Kadam has enrolled her in college, but danger sends her back to India to begin another quest, this time with Kishan, to try to break the curse that forces Kishan and his brother Ren to live as tigers.

Quite frankly, I'm disappointed by this book so far [Thursday, December 22, 2011]. When I finished Tiger's Curse, I ordered this book and couldn't wait to receive it.

“There are many different types of kisses. There’s a passionate kiss of farewell—like the kind Rhett gave Scarlett when he went off to war. The kiss of I-can’t-really-be-with-you-but-I-want-to-be—like with Superman and Lois Lane. There’s the first kiss—one that is gentle and hesitant, warm and vulnerable. And then there’s the kiss of possession—which was how Ren kissed me now.

It went beyond passion, beyond desire. His kiss was full of longing, need, and love, like all those other kisses. But, it was also filled with promises and pledges, some of which seemed sweet and tender while others seemed dangerous and exciting. He was taking me over. Staking a claim.

He seized me as boldly as the tiger captured his prey. There was no escape. And I didn't want to. I would have happily died in his clutches. I was his. And he made sure I knew it. My heart burst with a thousand beautiful blooms, all tiger lilies. And I knew with a certainty more powerful than anything I’d ever felt before that we belonged together. ”

The beginning until chapter 9 is funny and romantic, but then comes Kishan and Kelsey's adventure, but for some reason I couldn't get into it. And it's not only because of Kishan's extra feelings, it's just that the book, till now [chapter 20 - p.340] is not as good as book 1.

9 chapters left [139 pages left]. I'll write my final review then, something might happen and change my mind.

[Sunday, January 01, 2012] I felt that the romance between Kelsey and Kishan was so forced, and their adventure was boring. When they went to rescue Ren I wasn't convinced that they couldn't take Lokesh. I felt the author left him flee to make another few books. I couldn't see him as evil though she tried to convince us he is by comparing him to many famous evil characters including Lord Voldemort.

One of the things I hated all through the book was Kelsey's way of talking to men, the way she called them Superman and Casanova was such a cliché and silly!

    “I once told Ren our story wasn't over.And it's not.Not yet.”

All in all the book doesn't deserve 5 stars or even 4 stars for that matter. But the only redeeming thing I found here is that I am longing for Ren and Kelsey to remain together. And I adore Durga's quests. The whole adventure in India concept is mesmerizing to me.

Another great chapter in the life of some of the best characters written. Kelesy, Rin, and Kishan. This book starts out with Kelesy living with her choice to leave her prince and return to school. She is unhappy and tries dating to get over her broken heat. She is finds happiness only to have it torn away again. Now she and bad boy brother Kishan are on the prowl to solve another quest and save to one she loves. Things get quite a bit more complicated for the three.
Heartbreaking, funny and filled with wonderful myths and historical tales.

This is the 2nd book in the Tiger’s Curse series. This is expected to be a five book series but a release date for the 5th book, The Tiger’s Dream, has yet to be announced. I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as the The Tiger’s Curse. It starts out a lot slower and just wasn’t as exciting.I listened to this on audiobook and it was very well done. The narrator does a wonderful job with all of the different accents and making character voices very distinct. She also did a great job conveying emotion as she was narrating. I really really think the narration of this series is excellent.Kelsey is back in Oregon trying to get back to her old life. She’s started college classes and is living on her own. However her thoughts constantly return to Ren. When the evil mage from the first book tracks her down she flees back to India. There her and Ren’s brother, Kishan, continue on the quest to break the curse. This book started out quite a bit slower than the first book of this series. There is a lot of Kelsey bemoaning the fact that she left Ren behind and trying to get past that by dating three guys at once. We hear a ton about her dating misfortunes and about how no one can compare to Ren. It was incredibly boring. About halfway through, the story really picked up pace and was exciting again. For the second half of the book it is Kishan and Kelsey trying to figure out the next part of the curse. I really enjoyed these parts with all the adventure, traps, and riddles. Pretty much those elements of the story are the reason I keep reading this series. I really enjoyed Kelsey’s level-headed behavior in the first book. I don’t know what happened to that in this book; she makes a lot of dumb decisions and is completely dense where Ren is concerned. Kishan is in the story a ton and, although he is an okay character, I just didn’t like him that much. He spends a lot of time mooning after Kelsey even though Kelsey is obviously in love with his brother Ren. I think the whole scenario makes Kishan kind of an icky character. There is a “twist” at the end involving Ren that you could see coming a mile away. It was soooooo predictable. I rolled my eyes and sighed when it happened. I mean seriously it is one of the lamest plot devices ever and I was really disappointed that that was the direction that Huock decided to take the story.Despite all my complaints I do really enjoy the adventuring, the tomb-raiding, and the interesting curse. I love the mythology throughout as well. I just felt like the story was very unevenly paced and parts were outright boring. This book could have used some serious editing.Although I didn't like this book as much as the first book there were parts that I did enjoy. I would recommend to those who enjoy young adult reads that include adventure and mythology; just be warned there is a bit of teen angsting in here...especially in the beginning that drags the story down some. Even give that I will continue to read this series.

I really liked this book. I really liked this series. It's not perfect in writing and technique, but the author is new. And as far as new goes, it's brilliant. I got these first few when they were available on Amazon Kindle. Then, someone saw her talent and decided to take her on before she got grabbed up by someone else. As an author, she's sweet and she, or someone on her team has responded to emails and questions through various media outlets. Her writing style is growing.

For the books: I got attached to the characters and really involved in the plot. I haven't seen a lot of books about India and tigers so it was a refreshing change from most fantasy novels. Though some parts of the series were a bit on the predictable side I let myself really have fun with it and let my emotions get caught up in the swell of things. I laughed, cried, blushed, and yelled throughout this series. It brought me into a new culture that intrigued me enough to pick up some nonfiction books and learn some of the real stories behind a few characters within the series. I was immersed and loved it all. I was in our time and felt like I traveled back to ancient times with these characters.

The second tail (tee hee)in this series did not disappoint. Enjoyed having more of Kishan in this installment as he is my favorite brother. Their adventures are the highlight of these stories and I love how they go into Indian and other cultures mythologies. When they are on their quests I am on the seat of my pants and do not want to put the book down. So interesting and creative and well the reader gets a bit of history and literature and they don't even realize they are learning. I am truly captivated by the world Ms Houck has created. I thoroughly enjoyed while they were traveling to and throughout Shangri-La. I found this section to be delightful and fun, yet intense. I adore Mr Kadam and wish he would adopt me -- and not just for the fact of his massive wealth. Ok, maybe just a little for that reason. Now for what I did not enjoy. Now please remember I am a 44 year old mom and am not who these books are written for. Also I vaguely remember being that age, so that is why i do not take any stars off my rating for these issues I have with the series. My main issue is actually the heroine of the story. She drives me absolutely crazy and I want to slap her upside the head for being so un-confident and wishy washy. Also if I have to hear about the shade of either of the brothers eyes or their chiseled chests I am going to puke LOL. Yes I know, I know, but I am not a teen anymore. I have grown out of those angsty feelings and I don't wan't to remember them. Also Kelsey you love Ren not Kishan, let the poor bastard find someone who really loves him and his naughtiness (If I was younger I would so kick your ass for him Kelsey) Hmmmm maybe that is why we have Nilima forThe storyline could have moved along better without the addition of all the other suitors for Kelsey's hand. But again I think the teens will enjoy this.

I really, really enjoyed the original novel in this series entitled, 'Tiger's Curse'. So, it goes without saying that I had high expectations for 'Tiger's Quest'. Peeking at other reviews and ratings didn't help the hype, either. Most have raved about 'Tiger's Quest' and given it pretty high ratings. Sadly, I just didn't feel the love for this title. 'Tiger's Quest' was weighed down by long blocky descriptions and lack luster plot elements.

I don't mean to completely rip into 'Tiger's Quest', but there wasn't a lot that screamed 'oh my gosh, this is awesome'. The main problem with this novel stemmed from the long, blocky descriptions and the way that much of the time we learned facts via lines of description and not lines of dialogue. The long legends were pretty skim-worthy, too.

Adding to my disappointments, it seemed like Kelsey and Kishan had a pretty easy time completing the tasks that were placed in front of them. Everything just seemed to work out in their favor far too easily.

Even with the disappointments, there was one thing that I enjoyed about this novel-- Kishan. Seeing his character grow in 'Tiger's Quest' was the best part of this novel. I think I even prefer him to Ren now!

'Tiger's Quest' gets 3 out of 5 stars. Not my favorite book, but it's something you will want to read if you enjoyed the original.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales.Quick & Dirty: Great fantasy book filled with action and a cute romance.Opening Sentence: I clung to the leather seat and felt my heart fall as the private plane rose into the sky, streaking away from India.Excerpt: YesThe Review: Kelsey broke the first part of the curse, but now she wants to go back home and try to live normally for a little while. Unfortunately, Kelsey left her heart back in India. She fell head over heels in love with Ren, but she was scared to start a relationship with him so she left. She can’t stop thinking about him but she feels that it is time to try to move on. After a few months of dating other boys and missing Ren more than ever he finally shows up at her door. Kelsey decides that it is time to give Ren a chance, she is in love with him after all. They have a few great months together living a normal life, but they aren’t normal people so it doesn’t last long. Lokesh, the Prince and sworn enemy is looking for Kelsey and eventually he finds her. While trying to protect her Ren ends up getting captured, and Kelsey will stop at nothing to try and rescue him. They don’t know where Ren is or how to find him. Their only clue is to try to break another part of the curse. Kelsey returns to India and goes on a quest with Ren’s younger brother Kishan. Kishan is a sweet, yet more dangerous version of Ren. Kelsey’s heart truly belongs to Ren, but Kishan keeps trying to leave a mark of his own and Kelsey has a hard time resisting. Kelsey also has discovered a new power and she has to learn how to control it if they are going to be successful in retrieving another one of the four gifts. Will they be successful and will they be able to save Ren before it’s too late?I really enjoyed Kelsey’s character in this book. She grew so much from the first one. She goes from being a damsel in distress type to a girl to one that can really hold her own. She also really opens up to the possibility of love, and you start to see some of her walls come down. Her self confidence grows and she really becomes a great heroine that I really connected well with. I love when characters mature and change for the better in a series and I felt that Houck did a great job making Kelsey a much more likable character. You don’t get to see very much of Ren in this book, but the parts you do get just make you fall more in love with him. He is so devoted to Kelsey and I think that the things he does for her are so cute. He still has a temper and a jealous streak especially when it comes to his brother. But he has total confidence that he loves Kelsey and that she loves him back, he just has to work to get her to realize it. I missed seeing Ren but I know that we will get a lot more of him in the next book and I am excited for that.Kishan was introduced in the first book, but he was a very minor character. We get to know him so much better in this book, and I totally loved him. He is undeniably gorgeous and he has that bad boy vibe going on. He knows that Kelsey is with Ren, but he really has a thing for her as well. He is very open about how he feels, and he goes after what he wants. He is similar to Ren in a lot of ways but he is more daring and unpredictable. I love getting to know him, but it breaks my heart to see him blame himself for what has happened in the past. I don’t envy Kelsey having to choose between two amazing boys, but I always love a good love triangle. This was a great second book to the series. It was really fast paced with good action and great character development. I am really enjoying the plot and I am excited to see where the story goes. Houck’s writing is very descriptive and entertaining. I can’t wait to begin book 3 and see what happens. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys good fantasy.Notable Scene:Annoyed, I said, “What are you laughing at, Mister?”He took both of my hands in his and looked in my eyes. “Nothing at all, Kelsey. You are the most enchanting creature I’ve ever seen in my life.”“Oh. Thanks. But why did you laugh?”“I laughed because I’m the lucky one who gets to see you like this, to be with you in this paradise while Ren had to be chased by monkeys and fight needle trees. Obviously, I got the better quest.”FTC Advisory: Sterling provided me with a copy of Tiger’s Quest. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

This is the sequel to Tiger's Curse, and once again, I really enjoyed this book. The writing style is such that it keeps the pace flowing nicely. While the first book focuses on Ren, this book focuses more on his brother, Kishan, who is equally as attractive a character, if in very different ways. I really enjoyed getting to know him, along with learning more about Kelsey, seeing how she is growing as a character, and getting to spend more time with Mr. Kadam and Nilima as well. Additional characters were added, particularly with Kelsey's opportunity to spend time with other men, and it lets us see the good, bad, and indifferent out there in the dating world! The adventure and action are firmly in place again, as is the intertwining of various mythological aspects, particularly Indian mythology. The one thing that I had a problem with, and will wait to make a judgement on is the development of the love triangle between Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan. On the one hand, I can be very, VERY picky about my love triangles. They need to feel real to me, and truly present two very different, but equally viable, options for me to really enjoy them. I hate when an author includes a love triangle, but one of the choices involved is a total jerk, or for whatever other reason is so OBVIOUSLY NOT the person the hero or heroine should choose. On the other hand, so far, the author seems to be doing a good job with the development of the triangle. Kishan is equally as desirable and decent a person as Ren, but has some very different qualities to him, not only in looks but also in personality. While I was madly in love with Ren by the end of the first book, and therefore very resistant to liking Kishan in this book, by the end of this one, I really couldn't help developing a bit of a character crush on Kishan as well. I definitely look forward to reading the next in the series to see how all of this plays out!

Oh. My. Goodness. LOVED this book! Can't wait to read the next one. I'm so glad I only have to wait a couple more weeks. It's not often I like the second book of a series better than the first one. I wouldn't let anyone too young read this, though, the villain is insanely cruel and sadistic. But my 8th graders at school love it.

Once again Colleen Houck has created an endearing and powerful novel. Tiger's Quest is just as enticing and touching as Tiger's Curse, but with new sacrificed, hardships, adventure, and twists that will keep the reader riveted. This novel is captivating as it's heart breaking. The tasks and obstacles set forth for the characters will raptly hold attention from beginning until the end.Tiger's Quest is held in a more somber note, but it just adds more character and passion to the already outstanding novel. The love and compassion that fill these pages, along with the dangers and adventure, are truly awe inspiring. Colleen Houck was able to not just capture my mind with her words, she was also able to create a story that touched my heart. I laughed, I cried, I was deeply affected by the novel. I felt the pain and joys of the characters as if it were my own.I can't wait to see how the rest of this series turns out.

Epic. That would be the word I would use to describe this book and this series. Epic adventure, epic love story, epic danger, epic everything! This book suffered no sophomore slump- it was pulse pounding sequel to the first book. I went through an array of emotions in this book- depression with Kelsey who was separated from the tiger (tigers?) she loves at the beginning of the book, elation, tearing my hair out at the twists and turns in the book. I really don't want to give anything away- there were so many surprises and twists in this book that I found myself going back and rereading sections, in disbelief about what I had just read.I loved that I got to know Kishan better in this book. The bad boy -erm- tiger really does have a soft wounded side. Kishan and Kelsey spend most of the book together and it creates a lovely romantic triangle for the next book. I would absolutely not recommend reading this without reading the first one- you will be completely lost (and why on earth would you want to miss out on book one anyway!)This series has been described as Indiana Jones meets Twilight- and I can totally see why. If you have read this series yet- go get it, you won't be sorry!

Book two of the Tigers Curse books mostly has Kelsey working with Kishan to try to break the curse. The book starts with Kelsey in Oregon, where she is unsuccessfully trying to forget all about Ren, but then he finds her just in time to save her from a seriously dangerous sorcerer named Lokesh. Ren gets captured, and the rest of the book is Kelsey with Kishan, trying to rescue Ren. Once they get Ren back, something absolutely horrible has happened, and the book ends with that! Talk about an agonizing cliff hanger. Thankfully, book three is out in November.

***NOTE MY REVIEWS OFTEN CONTAIN SPOILERS***Kelsey Hayes, the chosen daughter of the Indian goddess Durga has returned home to Oregon both heart broken and with a stubborn will to move past her relationship with Ren, the Indian Tiger Prince, and the time they spent together. She begins dating, but her heart just isn't in it and everything she sees reminds her of him. Ren isn't doing much better and six months later follows her to Oregon determined to prove she's the one he loves and he's the one she's meant to be with. Though the two rekindle their relationship, when Ren's old enemy Lokesh hunts down Kelsey in hopes of taking her section of the amulet Ren sacrifices himself as a captive to save her from Lokesh's men. Together with Kishan she must journey to the spirit world in search of a mystical scarf that will not only help to break the brothers' tiger curse and benefit all of India, but which is the key to saving the man she loves. If her life weren't desperate enough, her companion falls in love with her, a feeling that she can't quite reciprocate because of her love for Ren. However Kishan presents a temptation that even Kelsey isn't sure she can resist.Tiger's Quest is a well woven tale of adventure, love and loss that shouldn't be missed. If I was a different type of reader this book would easily have been five stars, however, I prefer a faster pacing than Houck's writing style and I have to admit the ending made me a little angry so that might have influenced my rating just a tad.You can tell this writer is the type who likes to savor the books she reads, mulling each story over in her mind the way a wine connoisseur might a fine wine. This transfers to the page in her writing, as despite the adventurous plot lines, the story moves along like a gentle stream winding it's way around you as it slowly tempts you in. Readers of equal reading tastes will enjoy the tour into the world she has built for them. I, however like to devour books, riding them like a roller coaster - fast, exciting and over before you know it. Houck meticulously constructs each detail to make a world so real you can almost touch or taste it, well done, but at the detriment of the pacing. The detail and the way it's woven into the story, prevent you from speeding through this book as you would an average novel of adventure. Don't get me wrong she has scenes where the action speeds through in the fast in your face way I like to read, but those scenes are few and far between. If you're the type of reader who's comfortable with reading your books over the course of a week or even a few days, easily pausing and coming back, the book was made for you. It's intriguing enough that once you set it down you won't hesitate to come back to it, but it doesn't have the type of pacing the completely prevents you from setting it down and walking away to do the other things you need to get done. If you're the type of reader who gets a book in the mail, picks it up to read then a few short hours later sets it down completed stating how great a journey it was, you might chafe just a little with the slow pacing that really makes it so you can't speed through this book. It's not so much a bad thing about the book, more a difference in tastes.Another thing that bothered me about this book is with some of the plot twists it's like she's forced a love triangle that wasn't really there before. I mean yeah you could tell Kishan was interested in Tiger's Curse, but since the feelings weren't really reciprocated in any way it wasn't really a love triangle, more that you hoped another character might come along in later books to fit with Kishan. Through this journey and some of the plot twists, especially toward the end of the novel, Houck pretty much forces new feelings for Kishan on Kelsey then ruthless yanks away what she previously had with Ren. I don't really know what to think of it and I'll be honest in a way it upsets me. Both of these poor characters have been through enough and I don't see how Houck will ever be able to end this series now without readers hating her because one of the characters we've become emotionally involved with ends up broken. I can't really completely explain what I mean here without entirely spoiling the book for people who haven't read it. Read the book and I think you'll completely understand what I'm trying to say. However in Houck's defense, it says something about her talent as a writer that she's created characters that I actually care about. Not in an oh that sucks that such and such happened to them sort of way. But as in an emotionally involved, yelling at a book that can't actually hear me sort of way. Yes, my family now thinks I'm crazy. The characters in her novels are multifaceted and created with a depth that makes them feel so beyond real that you can't help but care about them and what happens to them. Overall the book is a wonderful blend of various mythologies, adventure, love, sacrifice and loss. It's a story that may move slowly, but doesn't leave a reader any less involved and it's definitely not one to pass over on a shelf. I'm preordering Tiger's Voyage tonight because after the way this one ended, there's no way I would miss the next installment of Ren, Kelsey and Kishan's adventure.

The second book in the Tiger Trilogy continues the trials and tribulations of Kelsey and the cursed Indian brothers who spend most of their long lasting life as tigers. I could have done without the long romance and Kelsey trying her hand at dating college boys only to discover that the tiger living in her house is her true love- a bit much... After the adventure starts up again in Tibet with the black tiger leading Kelsey, the story moves quickly and is an exciting romp through Shangri-La . Interesting ending that will have you wishing the third book was at your fingertips. Look for it out in June. Great for young teens and adults will like it as well.

****************Book 1 spoilers********************Wow. What a fantastical new series. I love the feeling of an exotic journey you get when you're reading it.Tiger's Quest is even better than the first, Tiger's Curse. I'm loving that more and more sequels are enhancing series instead for just following up a great first book. They are now getting better and better with each progressing book. Makes my love of reading even more outrageous! So, Tiger's Quest leaves off right after Tiger's Curse. Kelsey is back home and missing Ren something fierce. But she's trying to move on. When she starts seeing other people and low and behold, Ren's back! (of course!) But so is his dark and dangerous brother Kishan. When the bad guys show up and kidnap Ren, it's up to Kelsey and Kishan to save the day. Off they go to the next mystical land, full of Faeries and a wonderful story about Noah's Arc, to finish the second phase in breaking the Curse. It's so very New Moon in the fact that, with Ren out of the picture for a while, Kishan has the chance to moves in on Kelsey. (Ms. Houck was inspired to write the Tiger's series after finishing the Twilight Saga... So if you liked the romance aspect of Twilight/New Moon I HIGHLY recommend these books.) I'm in love. I HATE love-triangles, but this one is just so good! With a very unexpected ending I'm really looking forward to book #3, Tiger's Journey. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Who will go on the next leg of the Curse breaking adventures? Can they fix Ren? Will Kelsey realize that Kishan is the better choice?Oh man, it's such a beautiful tale I hope you have the chance to experience it.5/5 stars!

In Tiger's Quest, Kelsey makes a decision to return to Oregon without Dhiren and begin college. She believes she is doing this in order to allow Ren the chance to experience everything the world has to offer him, since he was trapped inside the body of a tiger for so many years. What she doesn't understand is that Ren has already decided what he wants out of life, and Kelsey is what he wants. For months Ren tries to give Kelsey the space she claims she wants and Kelsey tries to live like a regular college student, even dating other men and deciding finally that she was ready to move on. But Ren has other ideas, and arriving unexpectedly at Christmastime, Ren once again invades Kelsey's world and captures her heart. The pair spend several idyllic weeks together, both attending college classes and going on normal dates, until danger once again finds them and they have to run for their lives.Kelsey and Ren become separated, and Kelsey finds herself having to rely on Ren's brother, Kishan, and Mr. Kadam to help her. In order to locate Ren and free him from the evil that once again holds him prisoner, Kelsey and Kishan set out on a quest to find another missing piece to the puzzle that is the Tiger's Curse. This second installment was beautifully written, with the present-day story seamlessly interwoven once again with captivating legends. In one action-packed chapter after another, Ms. Houck once again ensnared me in the web of her imagination and I was loathe to leave her world behind at the end.
