Pastor Linda Lorraine Govender is my only “Princess” alongside her three brothers. Her love for the Lord began when she was barely two years. She would kneel at my side, having her head covered with a little yellow mantilla and in her own baby language she would worship God and thus grew loving and serving God into her adult years. She is one who firmly believes her pulpit extends far beyond the four walls of the Church.

I stand in awe of Linda’s flair and humour in writing these aphoric poems as it reveals the mind of a witty poetess. Pastor Linda Lorraine Govender is from Chatsworth, South Africa and is involved in ministry as well as a career in the construction industry. She attributes her spiritual growth to her dear mum, Pastor Rachael Munsami who is also an author of Precious Gems. She has a strong support system and is surrounded by loving, caring sons and their spouses, Alistair Martin and Shivanie Govender, Nathaniel Jarred and Lucretia Govender and has recently been graced from Heaven with a precious addition to the family, Cruz Carter Govender, her Grandson. She is also grateful to her dad Steven Munsami for his tremendous support through her storms of life. This book was prophetically confirmed by her mum and was written during the covid pandemic and lockdown. She has drawn from the Savior's well and has fulfilled the mandate given to her even before the foundations of the earth.

PROLOGUE

I quote John Dickie, If there be any work of man’s in which beyond others, true genius is needed, and in execution of which that genius is exercised up to its utmost capability, it is in the construction of some noble poem, and in this connection just think of being God’s poem. For what really is a poem? A masterpiece of poetical genius. It consists of the selected grandest thoughts that the most gifted man can think and these embodied and given forth in the words sweetest, sublimest; and most affecting that man can utter. And to be God’s poem is to be the expression of the grand and worthy thoughts of God enunciated not in suitable words only, but in a vestment which sets the thoughts forth, far more impressively than any words could do.

Drawing from the wellsprings of my Savior is truly the expression of John Dickie’s description of my collection of poems inspired by the Word of God, as each poem has been extracted from bible narratives which assists the reader in understanding the word of God in simplicity. This mandate was dropped in my spirit two years ago and was confirmed by a powerful woman of God, being my mum, Pastor Rachael Munsami, the author of Precious Gems. She prophetically confirmed that the seed of authorship was planted in my spirit by our Sovereign God. This prologue is being written in the month of December during the Christmas season and as I write this I reflect on Mary, when the angel appeared to her and said that she will conceive. I am ecstatic for this book was also conceived in my spirit and may it bear much fruit. It has been an exciting two-year journey with the Lord as precious nuggets were being deposited in my spirit from Heaven’s treasure chest which led to the birthing forth of this book. It is a combination of poems and snippets of sermons that will tug at your heart strings to have a closer encounter with this amazing God.

A Proverbs 31 woman, personified. Lorraine (Linda) Govender is a true gem who embodies the attributes of our Saviour Jesus Christ with greatness. Her love and kindness knows no end and her generosity, no bounds. A prayer warrior whose prayer has brought healing to many. A woman after God’s own heart. Forgiveness is like a breath of fresh air to her as she journeys through life everyday, remembering no wrongs against her. A strong independent woman with a gentle warm spirit, spreading the love of Christ wherever she goes.

A loving mom, mom-in-law, daughter, friend and most recently a precious new title Grandmom.

She is my spiritual influencer, and a true blessing.
