    INTRODUCTION

    Science fiction fandom, starting in the 1930s, began to organize into groups that communicated through fan-produced magazine—fanzines—which developed their own culture and language. Some were slickly produced; most, though, were mimeographed labors of love. Chigger Patch of Fandom—where this story first appeared—was from the latter category and contained commentary on science fiction, fan conventions, genre humor, letters, reviews...all the sort of things you’d expect from young science fiction fans. Some of the content was serious. Some was humorous.

    We have been going through old fanzines looking for interesting lost material, such as this parody of Mickey Spillane’s work. There is a lot of interesting lost material there, including contributions from all manner of fans and even some professional writers. And fans who went on to become famous
