    Acknowledgment

    I

Thank you to the people in Austin Macauley Publishers who offered their immense help in the publication of the book.

I owe a great deal to Satyajit Adhikary, a computer analyst in India who helped me a lot in computing works like painting, downloading, editing, and taking my pictures, all related to the publication of my book.

I would like to profusely thank Mr. Dayvid Jo Grant, an artist himself and musician whose commendations acted as a spur to my writing poems.

My regards to my former Head of the Department, Dr. Vincent Rich at the University of Westminster where I professed for twenty-five years. He always encouraged me in pursuit of my literary career along with my economics teaching. A great clap to my international colleagues who prodded me into a greater effort of writing poems in English. Hope they would now enjoy the taste of the water.

Finally, my deep respect for my enthusiastic supportive husband, Kanti Bhushan Chowdhury, who gave me a shot in the arm to write for a large group of readers around the world who can applaud and appreciate my literary talent.

    *A Humble Prayer*

    ***********************

    Brothers and Sisters,

    Please all stay at home.

    Home, home sweet home,

    Here lies your own freedom.

    Corona lives on human life.

You can’t cut it with a sharp knife.

    Break up their wide network,

    Give them a heavy jolt.

    Stay apart from each other,

Watch your step before you halt.

We are distant from each other,

But inside the heart we are too close.

To save our friend, foe and others,

    This is the correct dose.

The world is engaged on a large scale research,

To kill the enemies with proper gun,

For discovering the remedy and relief,

We are swimming in the deep ocean.

Help the doctors, nurses and the social media,

    Who are the true helpline.

    Continuous research is in progress,

They are all in the pipeline.

The corona lives on human lives,

If man dies they cannot survive.

But corona needs a heavy thrash,

    Before we all die.

See the human race is not extinct,

And don’t leave the world so soon with a good bye.

    Humans are highest in intelligence,

In the rung of ladder of social animal.

It is they who can defeat the germs,

Kill them at once before they become fatal.

    Coronas gives a cruel laugh,

    Surrounding capering flames of hell.

It is true they are invisible and unreachable,

    We cannot tear their veil.

If we do not go outside,

    They will search us elsewhere.

Just in case you have to leave your home,

Don’t forget to put your face mask, beware!

Coronas are menace to the peace,

    Observe humans without being observed.

    That is their sole advantage,

Nobody can give them a guard.

We stick to our guns, pray to God,

    Let our disciplines never fail.

Day may arrive when we cheer each other,

Cos our cursed corona has turned tail.

    In this peace loving world,

    They are venom and curse.

Our everyday morning prayer should be attuned to ‘STAY AT HOME’

    As a verse.

    **************************

I landed on America many years back,

As a researcher in Economics, that was my knack.

    Attached to my university,

    I got an accommodation.

    An on-campus housing,

    Ideal for my location.

    I shared my apartment,

    With two American ladies.

Both of them were friendly, I could notice.

One of them requested me to help a student,

She was not good at statistics,

    So the need was urgent.

One day a black American girl knocked at my door.

Susan came to me and sat on my floor.

She was stuck up with a module she had chosen.

Statistics based, which she could not manage with her brain.

Her submission of coursework was nearly due,

What needs to be done? She asked my view.

When I tried to explain her class lecture,

She looked at me in vain; took it as a torture.

    Susan had no elementary
