Introduction
Eating healthy foods is an important part of our lifestyle. But if you do not eat healthy foods then you have an unhealthy habit of junk food consumption. Our eating style is a habit just like anything else in life it can be either a bad habit or a good habit. Consuming too much junk food is an unhealthy habit. Junk food consists of artificial flavors and dyes as well as sugars and processed flours. There is no redeeming value to junk food, but it is highly addictive. If you feed the body junk, it will crave more of it.
Eating a junk food diet leaves our body weak and open for health issues to arise. To begin the worst thing that happens when we consume junk foods unchecked is excessive weight and fat. This leads to bone and joint concerns, heart issues, and possibly diabetes. These things may be aggravated by the absence of healthy foods in the diet. Junk foods contain no good nutrients so the body has nothing to draw on to make it healthy. The result is an unhealthy body, a compromised immune system, and probably a sedentary life because if you feel this way you will not want to get up and exercise.
Being obese means you are at risk for many other health concerns. Obesity is not just being fat or overweight. Obesity is a condition causes the body to work hard just to function properly. The issues that stem from being overweight may crop up eventually unless something is done to lose the weight. This is where eating healthy meals helps to turn this around and help the obesity problem to go away.
Excessive weight puts pressure on the joints and bones causing pain and inflammation. This can aggravate arthritis and cause pain when moving. This may hinder exercise, rather than get up and move and feel pain; you may choose to sit still instead, which is not good. By losing the weight the pressure on the bones and joints are released and the pain may go away.
Cardiovascular issues may be aggravated by excessive weight because being overweight can cause conditions like high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Diet often can control hypertension and may help to bring cholesterol levels back to normal. Healthy foods help to lose the weight that causes the high blood pressure and healthy foods do not add bad cholesterol to the body. Eating a diet of healthy foods helps to keep these things under control.
Being overweight puts a person at risk for type II diabetes. Diabetes is a condition where the body cannot control the insulin levels. Diabetes can occur in people who have diabetes in their family or who are excessively overweight. Whether or not you are at risk for the genetic diabetes or if you are just overweight, diet can play a big role in the prevention and treatment of this condition. Diet helps to control the diabetes in someone who has the diagnosis and diet can prevent it if the diet helps to keep the weight levels normal.
The immune system needs the nutrients we get from the foods we eat in order to be strong and healthy. If we do not eat healthy foods, we may weaken the immune system. A weak immune system puts us at risk for other illnesses, germs, and diseases. A strong immune system is able to fight off these infections. You can strengthen your immune system by eating healthy foods such as the ones found in the recipes in this book. When you give your body the nutrients it needs you will be stronger, feel better, and have more energy. The absolute best way to gain these nutrients is from the foods we eat. We can take supplements too, but the body does better if the nutrients come from natural foods rather than swallowed in a pill.
Foods are like a medicine
