About this ebook
This work is about transition. The ancient art forms of poetry and storytelling merge to convey the message that we are all powers and principles of the universe. The more we assimilate, manifest and wield this truth, the more powerful and evident we become. Man must awaken to the idea of the process of 'Coming Forth' of his soul. He must again find his connection to the 'Source', align himself by way of 'Native' systems of knowledge with 'The Way' or ultimately perish by it.
May this book be a reminder, if not a key and guide to him.

PRIDE
They’ve only heard me growl,
They’ve only heard my roar,
They’ll never hear the whispering of words,
By which my lover is lured.
The story of their scars,
There is terror in the swipe of my paw,
They cry for those whom fell to my mighty bite,
But they could never tell the tale of my Kiss Of Life.
They never say that I am a guardian,
Strong,
Royal,
Noble,
Full of love,
They only see the threat in my eyes...,
Watching from the shrub.
With hate as their weapons they’ve come to take our lives,
Bloody,
But unbowed,

Introduction
Into The World
Before the rising of the sun, Assa emerges from his hut. He pauses for a moment, allowing the night breeze to flow through his locks.
The breeze carries the creator’s decree...
he recites a verse from a poem he recalled while looking over one of the cliff’s of Ras Dashen upon a world still asleep.
It is time...,
He thinks to himself. Filled with mixed emotions, he passes the huts of his brethren, who are either still resting or are in meditation. He smiles at the amount of devotion that went into establishing the settlement at Ras Dashen. The huts are intentionally arranged in the shape of the ‘Celestial Star’, forming the camp high up in the mountain’s cliffs and beyond anyone’s interest. Yet, not out of the sight of the watchful eye of the priests lied the world they would study and interpret.
Assa stopped between the stelae marking the entrance of the camp...,
The lion is restless...,
a voice breaks through the silence of the night. It’s Yasu, one of the elders of the camp.
The old man rises to his feet. It is good to rest amongst your own, it is even better to redeem them.
He states looking into Assa’s eyes.
Assa takes off his priestly badge, a panther skin, and hands it to Yasu. The old man smiles and hands Assa his staff, which Assa accepts with a bow. He then touches the replica of the Ark suspended between the two stelae and disappears. First he blended with the darkness of the mountain wall. Then he dipped into the sea of trees, then finally, disappearing into the night.
Yasu’s eyes watched attentively. It’s as if he walked into another world.
He thinks to himself. With only the torch as a sign that he is still here..., my friend..., go in peace.

Chapter 1
A Thousand Miles...
On the road to Aswan , a chariot stopped in front of Assa. A man stuck his head through one of its windows,
Would you like a ride into Aswan?
he offered.
Assa has traveled by land and sea. He’s slept and eaten only by the kindness of strangers. He’s tired still, he hesitates before finally accepting.
Inside, the man introduces himself. I am Ta’jeb. Assistant to Shahu, vizier to Balcha, the King of Aswan.
I am Assa, Lion of Ras Dashen, and Keeper of the Wind.
Oh...,
Ta’jeb replied looking over Assa.
The two reasoned for the remaining to it took to reach Aswan. Ta’jeb finding Assa to be wise enjoyed his company and decided to invite him to his home for a feast as well as the opportunity to meet the vizier. Assa not wanting to be rude accepted.
At Ta’jeb’s home Assa saw many things he believed to be unbecoming of man. He witnessed the consumption of wine and strong drink in large quantities. Foul language and and what he deemed inappropriate behavior of both men and women. The scent of perfume and tobacco sickened him. He did however; find refuge in the otherworldly voices of the singers. Also, having learned the holistic properties of herbs and spices Assa appreciated their aromas, allowing them to invade his senses. He surrendered to them. In fact, he quietly used them to meditate.
After the feast, Ta’jeb brought Assa before the vizier. And during their reasoning Assa took notice of the material of which the bottom of the vizier’s sandals were made. Immediately, he was reminded of the stories told by travelers and people of the villages, who would visit the camp at Ras Dashen. They would tell of how people had, and would come from afar with desires for the wealth of

the land. He also recalled how Yasu would curse the vizier and king for serving the interests of them. They would put people to work and in many cases
