    INTRODUCTION

Africans have been neglecting their languages for too long now while promoting alien languages, keeping them as official languages in their countries.

This book is about the need –for lack of a better word- for Africans and people of African descent to get back in touch with their true selves: Their identities.

In the book I lay out the problems, the real problems in Africa and in America, and then I talk about the solutions, the real solutions.

In The African Remedy, Part One I call An Inferiority Complex: I talk there of the shamelessness and total lack of pride in today’s black world. It is a very short reading –the book itself being very thin- but it is absolutely poignant, as you’ll see.

The whole book in my humble opinion is simply put, priceless.

In Part Two which I call The African Remedy like the book, I start by talking there about my backgrounds. As you progress in your reading the more I elaborate on my point until my case is entirely made to you.

Again as you see this is a very thin book; the content however is pretty deep.

Even though this book remains imperfect like anything else put together by man, I’ve carefully weighed each and every word and sentence in it. So I suggest that you collect your mind and stay awaken as I am revealing to you something you need to know. This something will shed into bright the dormant light bulb in you if you’re willing to listening that is.

Today’s Africans are not interested in The Real African Values and as a result it’s been a chaotic situation in the black man’s continent for a long time now. One would’ve thought that with the gaining of its independence from Europe for half a century now, Africa would start getting back slowly but progressively on track; but since the continent was only independent on paper, things went from bad to worse and getting worse with each passing day to the point one starts thinking maybe a curse came upon this race at some point which may have led to its enslavement in the first place following its fall from the grace of the gods.

    PART ONE: AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX

I was sharing a table with two black males in a Downtown public library in Seattle, Washington, when I overheard a conversation the two were having.

One of them was doing some research on where to find available females and in his efforts he found some place in Asia which was one of the suggested places. So he was telling his friend about that place, and of his intentions to fly to over there.

It is my humble opinion that love sees no colors and knows no borders. On the other hand when your objective is to meet a woman of a certain race or of a certain skin tone different from yours, you’re suffering of an Inferiority Complex –though I won’t expect you to admit it to yourself much less to someone else-.

The yellow race outnumbers any other race on earth, so Asians don’t need Blacks to help them multiply. Whites overall marry Whites and all the distinct communities you can think of –with the exception of Blacks- marry within. To this day very rarely do they cross the line since they naturally feel very comfortable staying home. By staying home I simply mean being with a spouse their kind.

I understand the fact that opposites attract. I certainly understand a black male being for instance attracted to a beautiful brunette, or read-head, or blonde with a charming smile. There was a time when I for instance tended to be attracted to the snow-white type of girls –I mean the Northern European type girls- as long as they were slender and curvy, just normally curvy, with apple size breasts –I mean not big breasts-. I think being not only black but also from a place where people with such complexion were almost never encountered explains the curiosity I used to have towards such women.

Looking back, when I was a little child whenever a Caucasian or a light skin Middle-Easterner adventured –or rather wandered- in our neighborhood, that is away from the sector of the town where you would expect to meet such peoples, little children would come out of nowhere drawn by the very obvious looks of this stranger, and as they followed him in tow they would be chanting innocently: Toobap! Toobap! Toobap! –or Toobab!- which was one way to say white man or white person.

That said I don’t believe in going out of one’s way to find a specific type of women. It is only Blacks who break their ranks constantly to marry outside of their race. I believe this current has been going on among Africans and African-Americans since the mid 1900s.

It seems more and more in the black communities that success and light skin women, or success and non-black women go hand in hand. White is now considered beautiful and divine and Black is said to be ugly and diabolic. Thus if you are a successful black man it is in your best interest to crown your accomplishments by landing yourself not necessarily a white or an Asian woman, but surely then the lightest black woman you can find.

How many famous black men do you know of with dark skin black wives? How many black athletes do you know of with dark skin black wives? When African territories started gaining a so-called independence from European colonialists some of those first African presidents of post-colonial epoch and else prominent leaders started marrying European women. How acceptable does it look to see the president or a prominent leader of an African land which has just gained its independence from some European country standing before a huge crowd of his people with his non-black wife by his sides? How acceptable do you think that photo shot is? In European countries with a black population it is an extreme rarity to see a black man with a black wife.

Back in segregation days in America Blacks were more educated, more thoughtful and a lot prouder than today’s black Americans. But then again in those days Blacks had a lot to prove.

In today’s black American sub-consciences they have reached the plateau; they can no longer go any farther; they can now only regress. I am not convinced at all that Blacks have ever reached the top in the nation’s history; but I must admit with a heavy heart that they are already regressing. It is so embarrassing –for lack of a stronger word- the lengths Blacks go to today to be less black. They go through cosmetics which in males include changing their hair texture.

Since my hair was extremely thin and would not grow, I once went –this was in Houston, Texas- to consult a Hair Specialist. The Specialist I saw, a black gentleman, prescribed and then sold me right there something to apply on my scalp after examination. He also emphasized on the need to consume meals with a lot of green vegetables halfway cooked, to preserve the strength. He mentioned to me the pills he himself was taking to turn his hair straight like the Caucasian’s. He told me about the drugs he must also take to replace any amino acids which were being expelled from his organism because of the effect of the pills, every time he ran to the restrooms to relieve himself. He said if you don’t follow the procedure with discipline the consequences are deadly. He then asked me passing gently a hand over the top of his head if I was interested to have my hair look like his –meaning Caucasian’s type-. I answered No thank you. That question was the one moment I felt insulted in the confines of that man’s workplace.

What has ever happened to the Afro! Why is the frizzy African hair type replaced with the straight Caucasian type hair and the curly Mediterranean’s? Only Africans and peoples of African descent have the unmistakable and uniquely frizzy kind of hair. Have you ever thought about that? The Far Eastern Indian with a very dark skin does not have such hair texture. How much does the frizzy African hair have to do with climate? How much does it have to do with the genetic makeup of the African race? Whatever the real explanation behind the frizzy African hair it is fascinating noting that all humankind hair –with the notable exception of the African’s- can be mixed up –confounded- even under close examination by the naked eye. Now let me ask you this: What is wrong with being remarkably different? I cannot express in words my love for being distinctly and distinguishly different.

What are all those shaved heads met nowadays in the black communities anywhere and everywhere about? Are they about It’s a black thing you can’t understand? I thought the shaved head was mostly left for those going bold. I meet daily shaved head guys whose heads are not shaped in a way which should allow them to join in the shaved heads trend as I equally meet those who look expressionless under a shaved head.

When you try a new outfit or a new look and then you stand in front of a mirror how can’t you tell if it fits you fine or not! Why do you join a trend blindly? Again, why do you join a trend blindly?

I kept a clean head for a long time since my hair couldn’t grow as finely as I wanted. When this shaved head trend started becoming an ugly popular movement I decided to let my hair grow so to disassociate myself. That’s when I went to see a Specialist. I have not really followed through with the products to apply on my scalp, but somehow the boldness in the middle of my head has not worsened and it even seems hair is growing there. I may have improved my diet. Unfortunately my hair remains awfully too short for my liking and certainly too thin.

Picture in your head for a few minutes a place crowded with bold headed people. Do you find such picture beautiful? When I see on television a roundtable of Sports-Analysts with all the black Analysts sporting a bold head I find the image so miserable to the point I want to dial another station.

From what I’ve observed across America, black Americans tend to have a healthy scalp for hair grooming. If I were to take a wild guess I would say most cases of hair loss in black America have roots in those greasy cosmetics they feed their scalps and also indeed in the intakes to affect their hair texture, like the kind of intakes the Hair Specialist I consulted took. But I also sincerely wonder if some Blacks do not intentionally go through some procedures to kill their hair growth in the name of clean-head movement so they won’t have to keep shaving every so often. Whereas Whites spend a lot of money to fight boldness, more and more Blacks are getting rid of their hairs. I’ve seen on television respectable black folks some of them even icons, I mean people who used to have an enviable Afro, now keeping permanently a bold head.

There is a respectable basketball Analyst who used to keep a nice Afro, one day he came on television with an absolute new look. The man appeared one day on television to my astonishment with a shiny bold head and a beard dyed gray. This man could be in his late Fifties or in his sixties, one thing was a fact, whatever his age he looked naturally very fresh and a lot younger than his years. I assume the man got enough of his young looking old self and decided to go with a dramatic change. And indeed his change was a shocker to me. He took the old look route. I bet he can now claim to be fifteen years older than what his birth certificate shows and no one would question him on that. My guess
