Missing you every day, dad.
Asha you came to be the change.
Preface
Fighting like never before, grabbing the dagger and clinging to life, the young Evan fought relentlessly.
—I didn’t choose this. Do we really have to do it? —he asked his father, without getting an answer.
«A member of the Evil`s Linage can`t save a witch’s life. They are here to finish with the evil. Their mission in the world is to eradicate us from it» the boy repeated his father’s words in silence.
The young man ran as fast as he could. He didn`t know if he would be able to kill Bianca. She was much more than just a white light. Are we really talking about a successor or a heretic? Surely, Evan was not the person that his parents expected, or perhaps he was?
When they were almost safe and very close to their car, father and son stopped. A whole coven of white lights surrounded them, they had no escape. Suddenly, and without knowing very well how, Evan levitate among all those witches of angelic aspect. Today, twenty years after the devastation of the Olympus, its consequences continue to scourge the earthly world, the Earth, the world of the mortals.
«Will the world be ready to fight with the wildest version of the Evil`s Linage? Will we be able to finish with all the witches and sorcerers of the Earth so that we can turn it into our immortal Hell? But, above all, can my mother return if I steal a pure soul? Whatever happens, I am ready to fight, to defend my origins, to unleash the evil on Earth and bring back my powerful mother» thought the young man before starting that arduous battle.
Chapter I
Knowing my origins
—I condemn Evan O´Donnell to 779 hours of community service in downtown Ohio —said the judge after a sharp blow with that cold judicial hammer.
Evan O´Donnell lived in Ohio, United States, with his father, Bender. The young man was 20 years old, dark and shiny, with black hair, blue eyes and the body of an elite sportsman. He had been in trouble since he was very young; at the age of 12, he spent a period of his life in a juvenile detention centre.
The boy shook his lawyer’s hand and left the courthouse as quickly as possible. Once out and breathing the fresh November air, away from the eyes of his strict father, he lit a cigarette and sat placidly on the bench in the town square.
—Hey, Evan! How’s it going? —he was greeted by a gangly young man. Evan answered with the head as he passed by, staring madly at the horizon and wandering through his thoughts.
What the fuck is wrong with me? Why do I always have to be in trouble?
thought Evan when a voice behind him brought him back to reality.
—I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Where have you been? You’ll have to do all the hours that the judge ordered —said Bender as he sat next to him and pulled out a pack of cigarettes offering one to his son.
Evan, smiling with his father and accepting the cigarette, asked him:
—Dad, I wanted to talk about something for a long time. I don’t want you to think I’m crazy— he clarified before continuing to talk. —I feel as if something is about to happen, as if I had to be prepared for something. You know what I am talking about, don’t you? The other night I dreamt of my mother, you tried to kill her, and she burned your arm— said the young man, grabbing his father’s strong and muscular left arm. —The next morning you had this in him! What the hell is going on, dad? I can feel something’s not right. And I don’t even know why I can feel it! —he exclaimed demanding the truth from his father.
For a year now, Evan had been suffering nightmares and daydreaming. He has visions and, above all, a few attacks of uncontrolled anger for no apparent reason. Evan knew that something was going on, but that he was prepared for anything.
Bender, looking straight into his son’s lively blue eyes, putting his hand on his back and sliding it into his tangled hair, began to relate;
—Evan, I am going to tell you something that is very hard to believe, you may even think that I am mad—the handsome and strong Bender joked and smiled with his son. — For many years, many years, we have belonged to a lineage of warriors. We come from a place where everything you now think is impossible, is possible. If you want to understand everything, you have to look inside yourself and forget all what you have learned so far — he began to relate the story, sparkling with emotion. It was time that Evan knew his origins.
Bender had changed a lot since his departure from the Olympus. After the cession of power by the God of Hell, his image was practically the same as that of the ancient and disintegrated Orestes. Evan was the perfect mixture between two beings of unparalleled beauty. His appearance was the same as his father: a rough young man with blue eyes. Evan told him:
—I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I don’t like what I see inside. I don’t understand it.
—It’s normal that you don’t understand anything and that you don’t know what’s really happening to you; it’s totally normal. Your mother went through the same thing as you did many years ago, and believe me, there has never been anyone more powerful than her— replied the father.
—Mum—whispered the boy and, closing his eyes, he saw himself running through a dark and humid forest, barefoot, mad and with bloody hands. He was sure that this blood was not his own blood.
—Evan, wake up! — said Bender — another vision? What have you seen this time?
—I couldn’t explain it.
—Don’t worry. As I was saying, we are special; we have some talents
that make us special. Many years ago, before you were born, only the Olympus existed. There, the most powerful souls lived together, fighting against the evil, as always. This world you think you belong to has been only the desperate creation of a Goddess, in order to separate the evil from the Olympus. Your mother came to our world with the clear mission of reigning in it and to eradicate us. I belonged to the other side. I was one under the evil
. We fell in love in such a way that we destructed our whole world. With your birth appeared a new hope for our lineage; I managed to escape with you in my arms to the Land of the Mortals, where we have been since now. Soon, very soon, everything will change; the Evil’s Linage is coming. When you are 21 years old, everyone will be here and we will be able to fulfil our mission, with the prophecy: to make your mother return. Only you can do it, son— said Bender to his son, looking into each other’s eyes and melting into a hug.
—I dreamt of her, she told me to be ready. I know we’ll meet soon.
—You must be very careful with your power. You still don`t realized how much you have, my son. You are even more powerful than your mother. She had to reach the Olympus to discover them. You see the future and you have a superhuman strength; now all you have to do is to find your power. Your nature is evil and impure. You are the successor of the evil.
Father and son drew their seductive and manly silhouettes sitting on that park bench behind the warm rays of the evening sun.
—I think it’s time to go home. I’ll tell you the rest of the story along the way; there are still many details that you don’t know and that nobody knows —said the handsome Bender with a mysterious tone accompanied by a mischievous smile.
Those two handsome mortals got up from the bench where they had had such placid conversation and walked down the road that led directly to the parking door where Bender had his old blue van.
—we have people waiting outside the house —Evan said as he got into his father’s van.
—What? How do you know?
—I don’t know, but there are two men and two women— he continued and, closing his eyes, he said: —Duque, Cuervo, Iriome and Annie— Evan told the names of those people and, looking at his father for answers, he got into the car.
Bender, smiling at his son’s powers, replied:
—They are part of the Evil`s Linage, I told you they are coming. Come on, they’re waiting for us—said the demon being as he started the engine of his old, dilapidated van.
When they reached the hall of the house where both mythological beings lived, they found four dishevelled people waiting for them, as Evan announced. The two girls were sitting on the sidewalk while the two boys were standing with a bottle of beer in their hands.
—We have been waiting for a long time — said the most graceless of them.
—Did you expect that we stay in the house for twenty years? Come in, you need a shower and some clothes. This is my son Evan, the successor— answered Bender.
—Yes, your son—said the other young man.
—Don’t pay any attention, Evan. These two drunks are talking nonsense. My name is Iriome; this is my sister Annie, and we waited for a long time to meet you— interrupted one of the girls sitting on the sidewalk.
Iriome was tall, blonde, very white, quite attractive, but with something strange in her eyes. Her sister, on the other hand, was short, very wide with hips, dark hair, white complexion and many freckles on her chubby face. Annie seemed to be the shyest of the group. She barely looked up from the floor during all the presentations in the entrance hall.
—I am Duque. I always hunted with your father—a skinny, malnourished, dark and dishevelled man appeared - He is Cuervo. He was in charge of guarding the dungeons of The Hill— he continued.
—From where? — Evan asked strangely.
—Did you tell him where he comes from? —Duque asked again.
—My son knows what he has to know, don’t overwhelm him— answered Bender. He told everyone to move to the inner rooms of the house.
Cuervo, the fourth of the members in the world of mortals, was the most disturbed of them. He had a scar on his face. His countenance took on a visibly constant form of anger. You could hardly see the white colour in his eyes, and when the young Evan looked inside them, he was very disturbed.
Evan was the last to enter the house, grabbing and closing the door; he felt a cold current behind him that made his hair freeze. He didn’t like any of those visitors. Above all, he didn´t like when Cuervo said: Yes, your son
or Iriome’s prompt interruption to stop him from talking. Something inside the boy told him that none of those four people was to be trusted and that none of the four was going to help him.
—I knew this moment would come. The guest house is in the backyard, it’s pretty big. There’s room for you and for those of you who are coming. There you will find everything you need: food, hot water and clean clothes; we’ll meet in the main kitchen for dinner — Bender said to his new army of impure souls.
—Dad, I’ll go out for a walk. I’m meeting Kuba and the others. It won’t be long.
—Not tonight, Evan. We have to talk, and you have to be here.
—Okay, I’ll go to my room and make a call. I’ll be right down—Evan said.
The four impure souls went to their new home, where they took a bath with foam and salts, changed their clothes and went down to the kitchen to meet Bender and his son. They seemed like four completely different people from those who had entered the house. It’s amazing what only a bath and some clean clothes can do
thought the new army leader.
—When is dinner? I’m starving— Duque asked.
—Where’s the young Evan? —Iriome was interested.
—In his room. I’ll go and call him.
Bender climbed the stairs that connected the enormous hall with the upper floor where the rooms and
