Explanation of the Story so far

In the loving memory of my Nan (Mabel) and my grandad (Bill), who believed in me all those years ago and believed in magic, like me! That it inspired me to write this story.

I would like to thank my dear husband, Mark, for his support while I bought this book to life as well.

There once on Earth before us humans were amazing mystical creatures like the Unicorns, Pegasus, with sabre tooth tigers that Hades kept from the dinosaurs reign before them.

This story is about three types of unicorns that made the Earth as it is today It is also the story of how the horse possibly was born?

    Chapter 1

    The Plan

It all began one afternoon, from an idea Zeus had about his magnificent winged horses. Zeus was having his regular walk with his favourite steed, Pegasus, and began to talk about how the dinosaurs had destroyed the earth. He needed to improve it quickly for his new project, humans in the every- near future. Some improvement had been made already, but the earth was not yet safe for humans to live happily yet.

The idea was this: Zeus thought about his winged horses of all different shapes and sizes. Thanks to Pegasus being a god himself, they had magical powers.

While the two were sitting around a beautiful river of blues and greens, eating their ambrosia rice and sweet nectar from the holy waters, Zeus said, I have a challenge for you, dear friend, involving your beautiful herd of winged horses. I need you to choose the three best mares and stallions out of the strongest and most powerful of them all. I then want them to live on earth. Their jobs will be to improve, help, and protect it. What do you think, Peg?

Pegasus nodded and reared with delight at the challenge. He finished drinking his nectar then flew up into the skies of Olympus, looking down at all his herd and observing carefully. The next day, he met up with Zeus again and introduced him to the three magnificent pairs he had picked for this special task.

The winged horses were all strong, powerful, and elegant, holding their heads and tails high with pride. One by one, Pegasus introduced Zeus to the stallions Wings, Shadow, and Moonstone and the mares Rose Petal, Mystique, and Angel. These were his most faithful steeds who had battled at his side against the Titans. They had very good bloodlines from Pegasus himself. These special creatures were out of this world, with gorgeous thick-feathered eagle wings. They were pure white, with velvet coats, soft to the touch and long wavy manes and tails. Their eyes looked like pearls and diamonds which shone brightly all at the same time.

Zeus was very impressed with Pegasus’s choices. Well done, dear friend. I shall now leave you to tell them the plan.

After Pegasus explained to the herd what the challenge was, they reared up with excitement. The team was then taken for a medical check to make sure they were fit for the journey, as this mission would change their lives forever.

That night, Pegasus insisted they all fill their tummies and drink plenty too, as it would take two whole days to travel, as Earth was in the fifth dimension and Olympus was in the sixth. He made sure they had an enjoyable time while saying their goodbyes to their friends and family, as they would never see them again here in Olympus.

    Chapter 2

    The Journey to Earth

The next morning, Pegasus woke up all his dear warriors and asked them if they were ready to leave their homes for good. They neighed happily. Pegasus sent them to a special field to practise their flying skills and gain strength while checking that all their feathers were intact, as otherwise, it would be difficult to fly and too dangerous to make this journey. Thankfully, they all passed their final tests with flying colours, and they were all very pleased with themselves. Pegasus told them they would leave at sunrise.

When it was sunrise, Pegasus got them together and led them down to a path they had not walked on for a very long time. The path was called the Blue Heaven, and it glittered in the sunshine in stunning shades of light and dark blue pebbles. So pretty! They all exclaimed inwardly.

They began to position themselves so they could practise fluttering their wings. Once they were ready, they walked closer to the edge of the path … and jumped! Evidently, they were all keen to go. Pegasus leapt into the air gracefully, flapping his gorgeous wings to the movement of the wind and then starting to gallop across the skies, which were all pinks and blues.

The herd jumped with dignity, one by one, into the sky after him, flying in pairs with Pegasus leading them towards a bright light. This was the doorway of the fifth dimension, and when they finally reached it and entered, they were sent off into space. They saw all the amazing planets, although space itself was dark and black. The planets lit up like beacons, especially Jupiter and Mars.

As they approached a black hole, Pegasus said they would have to go through it to get to Earth. He warned them to be careful, as the entrance would come out right in front of the sun. Flapping their wings as fast as they could, they started to fly into this massive black hole in the middle of nowhere, passing through dark, eerie, cold space. Eventually they saw some light ahead and soon came face to face with the most amazing ball of light they had ever seen.

The sun is an enormous ball of light which will kill anything that touches it, as it is very hot and can easily burn you to a crisp. We humans would never be able to handle its heat without protection. The winged horses have coats and skin made of a very strong substance, but even they must be careful of their wings, which are very sensitive to heat and can be singed quite easily. The herd flew carefully around the sun, as Earth was on the other side.

The precious creatures were starting to feel tired by now, near exhaustion, actually. Pegasus knew this and pushed them on, saying, I know we have been flying straight for two days, but we are nearly there. Please, do not give up—see how far we have come already!

The herd agreed to keep flying, knowing they were starting to feel the pain in their wings and legs. Yet Pegasus, the first to have flown around the sun safely, pushed them on to be strong. The winged horses swayed and swirled, flapping their wings as they passed very near to the intense heat of the sun’s rays.

Eventually, they succeeded, with just a few singed feathers, which would fall out and grow back again in time. The winged horses were panting for air as well and sweating down their necks and legs. Pegasus was concerned but believed and hoped they would all be OK.

Suddenly, right in front of him, was planet Earth. He praised his lucky stars. The planet was mapped out in blues and greens all around. Pegasus told his friends to head straight towards Earth by galloping downwards. As they did, the sky changed into shades of beautiful bright blue, and as they flew down, they could see the sea, rivers and streams, and the woods, grass, and trees of the countryside. And yet a lot of the lands still needed great attention and love to be like the other parts around it.

They kept galloping down towards the surface and one at a time lined up to land on the ground, which shook a little. Pegasus’s gallop turned into a gentle canter, until he came to a halt by bending his back legs into a pause position, stopping dead in his tracks. His wings continued flapping slowly, until they finally folded nicely to his sides. The others were coming down just as gently, trying to land as gracefully as their leader. Once the winged horses were settled, they shook their heads and bodies to relax and then collapsed to the ground.

They quickly got back up when Pegasus walked over to them.

Well, my friends, we have made it. Welcome to Earth, your new home!

They began to walk around, and within ten minutes of landing, they came across a cave. Inside, they found a place to rest. Pegasus said a spell to make the ambrosia rice and nectar appear, along with some fresh spring water.

My dear ones, please rest. I will keep watch. He watched over them day and night. Pegasus might not have looked like them, but he was twice their size and a god! He was stronger and more powerful than all of them put together.

    Chapter 3

    On Earth

The following sunny morning, the winged horses awoke feeling rested and yet hungry and thirsty from their journey. Pegasus walked into the cave and laid out some ambrosia rice on big leaves. There was also some nectar and spring water.

Please, eat and drink to gain your strength, as this is only the beginning of your journey. You have lots more still to come!

After they were all reenergized, he said, My perfect specimens, you have been chosen to help this planet grow and live again so humans can live here one day.

The winged horses looked at one another and smiled. They stood proudly and gracefully, nodding their heads up and down to show that they were ready for the challenge to begin.

He called out the first pair, Rose Petal and Shadow. "You two will become the Earth unicorns. Your jobs are making sure the earth receives plenty of water for growing beautiful plants and trees, and with your horns, you will also plant and heal them as well as protect them from harm. The plants and trees will produce the food to eat and air to breathe on this planet. Your horns will also serve a serene purpose, bringing peace and tranquillity in years to come. This will help you, and eventually the humans, to live and survive here quite nicely. But first, there is a lot to be fixed and healed, following the reign of the dinosaurs.

"I am now going to take away your wings and replace them with a horn, which will help you with your daily duties and protect you from harm. But once you change, you will not be immortal anymore: you will have a hundred years of life, because that is the rule on Earth. One day, your soul will come back, and your wings will be restored. But until then, they will be gone from you.

You two will now live in the woods.

They agreed by looking at each other. They felt very different as they galloped away together to the Forest of Hope

He called over to Wings and Angel. They both walked over to him, and he did the same to them. Your job will be to bring the sun up and down every day and to produce the weather. We need the sun to see clearly and to keep every creature warm. You will be the day unicorns. They neighed and ran into the hills.

Finally, Pegasus comes to his dear old friends, Moonstone and Mystique. He took them to the mountains and showed them the land, full of great colour and beauty. He told them they would be the night unicorns, as their jobs were special. "You will bring the moon to Earth and look after the stars.

We need the moon to cool the temperature down. This will allow creatures to rest and humans to re-energize for the next day to build up their strength. Also, there are forest animals here on Earth that need to hunt at night, as their eyes cannot handle the brightness of the day. You will be able to fly still by producing dust from your horns so you can gallop across the skies when needed."

Moonstone and Mystique neighed with happiness.

Good, then I shall proceed, Pegasus continued in Greek. They all watched each other’s bodies carefully as their wings started to shrink and disappear. They felt the unusual feeling of a soft piercing bone growing through the top of their foreheads, eventually stopping at a sharp point. The colour of the horn was natural. They felt strange at first, but a few minutes later, they started to relax.

This is where your powers will live now on. Use them well to help the Earth and to protect yourselves from others.

    Chapter 4

The Winged Horses Now Live as Unicorns

The next day came. Wings and Angel did very well bringing the sun to earth, using the power of their horns. Their horns glowed and struck towards the sun, which let them take control, living it wherever they wanted even though they were still standing on the ground. Rose Petal and Shadow gathered some of the plants and water they produced every day by putting their horns to the ground, which also glowed, making the plants grow and the water
