DEDICATION
Almighty God, thank you for the love, grace, mercy, and patience you have shrouded upon me. You never gave up on me, but transformed me into a man of God. Without your guidance and wisdom, I would have never known the true meaning of your love, how to love others, and our purpose on earth.
To Ezer, you are a gift from God. A warrior who took my hand and guided me for many years. Every day you relentlessly put on the Armor of God, a true Christian Warrior. Without you, I would have never met God or trekked on this incredible journey of God’s love. Anyone who has met you, has been truly blessed, as I have. I will always love you and have majestic adoration for you.
INTRODUCTION
I wrote this book to share with all men about what I learned about God’s love and how God desires men to love their wives. This book is the culmination of the incredible journey I experienced learning about God’s love, which transformed me into the man of God I am today. God guided me through prayer and the Word to find the verses that would help me understand his love and how to apply his love in my life. He gently prodded me to be receptive to the truth. I discovered the truth and the truth set me free. Just as Jesus stated, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
(John 8: 31–32, NIV). What I learned was the two most important commandments. Jesus stated,
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22: 37–40, NIV)
According to the greatest commandments, God wants us to love him with all our heart, soul, and mind and to unconditionally love our neighbors, which includes our wives, children, family, friends, significant others, coworkers, opponents, enemies, and persecutors. The love God is describing is Agape love, true unconditional and sacrificial love. God’s will for us is to use Agape love in all of our relationships. The apostle Paul states,
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good; pleasing, perfect will. (Romans 12: 2, NIV)
What does it mean to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind? It means to give up our will and our lives for God’s will and purpose. It means to be obedient by applying his commandments and teachings in our daily lives. It means to put aside our selfishness, pride, sinful nature, wants, and needs for his will and purpose. What does it mean to love others? To love others means to love according to God’s unconditional and sacrificial love. God’s love isn’t romantic love, friendship love, or family love, it is a mindset and behavior.
Let’s take a look at the best example of God’s
