Acknowledgments
Matthew 13:37−43 New International Version (NIV)
³⁷ He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. ³⁸ The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one,
³⁹ and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels."
⁴⁰ As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.
⁴¹ The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.
⁴² They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
⁴³ Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.
In loving memory of my deceased parents.
They were both devoted parents and committed to their cause. We honor you, and your children celebrate your life and all your accomplishments.

FOREWORD
I feel honored and privileged to congratulate Pastor Pierre F. D’Haiti of Faith Community Church of God on his book Left in the Garden, which shares the story of his life from childhood to adulthood.
Pierre has positively impacted the Bridgeport community and beyond through his early work in Connecticut with the Haitian Coalition for Advancement (KAPAB). He started the KAPAB movement to mobilize Haitians in Connecticut to become US citizens and also as voters. As a result, thousands of Haitians in Connecticut have become registered voters. I also applaud the work he has done with Haiti Works, Inc. He mobilized the transportation of a fire truck to Petion-Ville, a sister city in Haiti that was adopted by our great city of Bridgeport. He has served our city of Bridgeport well in his previous role as a planning and zoning commissioner. In addition, he has served on many boards and committees.
Pastor D’Haiti has done a fine job educating the community with his publication of the African American Yellow Pages, the Caribbean-American Yellow Book, and Association des Pasteurs Evangeliques Haitiens de CT (APEHC) Newsletter. In addition, he has co-authored Haiti-Smile & Life. His commitment to Haitian cultural awareness is evident by his dedication to host the yearly Haitian Heritage Month Flag-Raising and celebration during the month of May in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of the City of Bridgeport.
Again, congratulations on your book, Pastor Pierre F. d’Haiti on the extraordinary journey that led you the destiny of Left in the Garden.
Joseph P. Ganim, Mayor
City of Bridgeport
NOTE
Flowers and plants in a garden, or in any other environment, are designed by nature to adapt to time and seasonal changes. We too must adjust according to events, times, and seasons in our lives. As such, Left in the Garden speaks of subliminal messages I’ve discovered and uncovered throughout my life. I call these messages or experiences Instructors.
One must understand what subliminal messages are: existing or functioning below the threshold of consciousness intense enough to influence the mental processes of the behavior of an individual.
Thus, the conscious mind is awake and aware of what is going on in its surroundings. The unconscious mind is not awake and not aware of what is going on. The subconscious mind, which is the threshold of our mind, houses our emotions, thoughts, ideas, feelings, fears, griefs, hurts, pains, sufferings, doubts and desires, including our history.
The best way to understand subliminal messages is by looking at the top of an iceberg, overlooking a calm freezing lake during the winter months; as beautiful and small as it may seem from a distance, below is a huge piece that controls the seen object. It is the same way with our subconscious mind which stores our memories, our history, and our experiences; that is where anger, bitterness, and resentment find their roots.
For those of you who are suffering and seeking help but cannot seem to find hope, it is no coincidence that this book was placed in your precious hands because it was written with you in mind. My prayer for you is that you will let God handle all your problems. ⁶ Be humble in the presence of God’s mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes. ⁷ God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.
1 Peter 5:6-7 (CEV)
