The Ghost of Donald J. Trump - W. I. Westmoreland

THE GHOST OF DONALD J TRUMP

"All happiness depends on the energy to assume the mask of some

other self; that all joyous or creative life is a rebirth as something

not oneself, something which has no memory and is created in a

moment and perpetually renewed." –William Butler Yeats

I might require wartime executive powers –Franklin

    Delano Roosevelt. March 1933

Long before Teddy Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Bill Clinton or Barack Obama tossed and turned in their presidential bedroom suites, ghosts have been known to haunt the White House. So, it might have been more than ironic, that after the Republican controlled Senate held a vote to acquit Donald J. Trump, the Grim Reaper was thought to be pacing up and down the halls of the West Wing at midnight.

Indifferent to how history might ultimately treat him, Donald Trump was ecstatic that some would claim he was unleashed, acting like an 18th century monarch. All too soon, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo would remind him he was not crowned a king.

Few thoughtful Americans and political junkies were surprised when, the day after his acquittal, after his outrageous State of the Union performance and boasting that was televised worldwide, President Trump arranged for his staunchest and most loyal Republican champions of the Senate, as well as his biggest re-election donors, to join him for spirited rounds of golf and private partying at Mar-a-Lago. However, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, and reports of multiple deaths in the United States, and the spreading of the virus over all fifty states, his daughter Ivanka, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, his son Donald Jr., as well as his campaign managers Brad Parscale and Hope Hicks, all implored and hoped the President would reconsider and retract the invitation to both major donors and Republican loyalists to play golf at Mar-a-Lago, in the midst of a spreading global pandemic.

Back in Northern California, relaxing and reflecting on ever-changing daily updates on the virus and her party’s plans to provide financial support to the most vulnerable Americans, Nancy Pelosi was still recovering from a lingering cold while trying to remain calm in the comfort of her sprawling Bay Area home. Yet, every time she read Trump’s outrageous falsehoods, they seemed all the worse, recalling the President’s boasting and the bravado she had to endure, sitting silently behind the President in the House of Representative as he spewed a litany of fabrications and outright lies during his State of the Union address. At least, her daughter texted her mom, she didn’t have any symptoms of the dreaded COVID-19 virus.

The reader might be amused to learn that when President Trump began his State of the Union speech, his youngest children Barron and Sharron stopped playing the game of Boggle, and glued their eyes to the specially customized 80-inch TV screen mounted on the wall in the privacy of Presidential White House quarters.

Sharron was gleeful and she hugged her twin brother Barron. She felt overjoyed knowing that in some small way, she had contributed to the focus of her father’s State of the Union before Congress. She confided to Barron that she had lunch and met privately with the President on the Sunday before the speech in the private library of the White House.

No one else knew how passionately she implored her father not to speak badly of the Democratic House managers who had launched the impeachment probe, nor of Nancy Pelosi, or any of the witnesses who had testified during those hearings.

She told her brother that their dad had promised he wouldn’t do so; instead the 45th President had assured his daughter, that his State of the Union speech before Congress would focus on his accomplishments, benefitting all of the American people. Thereafter he would select a few choice segments and visual cameos for his telegenic re-election campaign. He told Sharron that Hope Hicks would meet with Brad Pascale and draft a billion-dollar social media blitz to be rolled out later in the spring of the election year.

And so, President Donald John Trump began his State of the Union address at 9 pm Eastern time on February 4, 2020.

After handing a copy of the speech to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the President declined to shake her hand, turning to the teleprompter instead, he began to read:

Madam Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, the First Lady of the United States, and my fellow Americans. We meet tonight at a moment of unlimited potential. As we begin a new Congress, I stand here ready to work with you to achieve historic breakthroughs for all Americans. Millions of our fellow citizens are watching us now, gathered in this great chamber, hoping that we will govern not as two parties but as one nation.

Indeed, watching from abroad were millions of US expats, Brazilians, Brits, Canadians, Germans, Indians, Japanese, Koreans, Mexicans, Turks, Saudis, Somalis, Syrians, and Yemenis, and of course, Prince MBS, and Presidents Maduro of Venezuela, Vladimir Putin of Russia, Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain, Justin Trudeau of Canada, and Narendra Modi of India. President Xi watched intently receiving minute-to-minute reports from Wuhan on the spread of the dreaded coronavirus plaguing all of China.

The White House and the New York Times estimated that over 100 million viewers listened to 75 percent of the speech, before falling asleep.

Pausing briefly to permit the Republican cheering squads in the hallowed chamber to applaud and stand in obligatory obeisance, President Trump continued.

The agenda I will lay out this evening is not a Republican agenda or a Democrat agenda. It’s the agenda of the American people. Many of us have campaigned on the same core promises: to defend American jobs and demand fair trade for American workers; to rebuild and revitalize our nation’s infrastructure; to reduce the price of healthcare and prescription drugs; to create an immigration system that is safe, lawful, modern, and secure; and to pursue a foreign policy that puts America’s interests first. There is a new opportunity in American politics, if only we have the courage, together, to seize it. Victory is not winning for our party. Victory is winning for our country.

FBI Director Christopher Wray watched too, frequently glancing at secure encrypted texts from FBI Counterterrorism Agent George Piro, sent from his command post in Miami Florida. Piro reflected and reported back to Director Wray on the ongoing surveillance of potential threats. Piro had been instructed by Wray to monitor the movements, emails, and telephone communications of more than 200 of the Saudi Arabian air-force student trainees that still remained in Florida. Agent Coates was assigned to the task, and developed a facility to use Maxar software for her cell phone surveillance and log the data.

Not one of the FBI agents, members of the House, Senate, not millions of Americans and foreign leaders had any inkling that an invisible enemy, soon to invade the continental United States would upend President Trump’s economic triumphs and alter the course of history. No one knew what a Novel Coronavirus had in store for the nation and the rest of the world.

    A COUNTRY RESPLENDENT

    WITH SPIES AND SYCOPHANTS

The Saudi Air Force trainees were temporarily grounded from flight training after one of their own killed three young military sailors on December 6, 2019. Mark Esper, Secretary of Defense, classified the incident as an act of terrorism motivated by jihadist ideology.

No wonder the FBI still viewed the remaining 140 foreign guests in Pensacola, the 35 at NAS Whiting Field, and another 128 at MAS Mayport, as ongoing potential threats to national security.

Indeed, an intercepted Yemen al-Qaeda group audio recording translated by FBI Agent Piro stated that Qasim al-Raymi directed the Saudi military airman to carry out the December attack.

Piro’s Miami counterterrorism task force was already overwhelmed from tracking the movements of the drug mafia in Miami, not to mention radical street gangs. Nevertheless, Wray had instructed Piro to focus on the top twenty Saudis that might pose the greatest threats to our security, as long as they remained in the United States as a consequence of the request by Saudi Prince MBS to President Trump and despite the pleadings of the CIA Director and others, the Saudis remained in Florida, based solely on the wishes and insistence of the President.

After viewing a few of the latest texts from Piro, Wray turned back to the big screen in his office as the Commander in Chief continued his address, praising the heroism, power and strength of the US military. Republicans in the House of Representative stood up and applauded time and again. Trump looked out at the audience, and the cameras, pausing briefly and making eye contact with his friends in the balcony and loyalists cheering on the house floor.

This year, America will recognize two important anniversaries that show us the majesty of America’s mission and the power of American pride. In June, we mark 75 years since the start of what General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the Great Crusade" — the Allied liberation of Europe in World War II. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, 15,000 young American men jumped from the sky, and 60,000 more stormed in from the sea, to save our civilization from tyranny.

"In the 20th century, America saved freedom, transformed science, redefined the middle class and, when you get down to it, there’s nothing anywhere in the world that can compete with America. Now we must step boldly and bravely into the next chapter of this great American adventure, and we must create a new standard of living for the 21st century. An amazing quality of life for all of our citizens is within reach. We can make our communities safer, our families stronger, our culture richer, our faith deeper, and our middle class bigger and more prosperous than ever before…But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution, and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good.

Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America’s future.

Sharron Trump turned away from the big scream toward her brother Barron. She beamed with delight, munching on fistfuls of Orville Redenbacher popcorn.

POTUS’s words were exactly the ones she wanted her father to share with the American public, rather than chastening the elected Democratic opposition.

Across the pond, Boris Johnson petted his golden retriever asleep at his feet near the blazing fire in the library of his London residence. Johnson scribbled notes on his Downing Street stationary, musing that he might employ a few of these lofty phrases in Parliament.

Similarly, in New Delhi, Narendra Modi instructed his foreign minister to devise a way to craft a series of culturally modified Trumpian platitudes that might resonate and rally his Hindu loyalists. He was planning a massive rally when Trump travelled to India in late February.

In contrast, Vladimir Putin frowned, grimaced then kicked in his TV monitor, after Trump boasted, In just over two years since the election, we have launched an unprecedented economic boom—a boom that has rarely been seen before. There’s been nothing like it. We have created 5.3 million new jobs and, importantly, added 600,000 new manufacturing jobs—something which almost everyone said was impossible to do. But the fact is, we are just getting started. Another replacement TV was promptly installed in Putin’s office, lest he miss another word of his fawning lap dog, prancing on the world stage to his delight.

Trump enjoyed the applause in the gallery and on the Republican side of the House, as he continued, Companies are coming back to our country in large numbers thanks to our historic reductions in taxes and regulations. And we have unleashed a revolution in American energy. The United States is now the number-one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world. And now, for the first time in 65 years we are a net exporter of energy.

Reacting in his chamber MBS, the reigning Saudi Prince, screamed an Arabic curse, then threw a golden scepter towards his 102-inch TV screen.

Fortunately, the ruby encrusted bejeweled missive was dutifully caught by a sure-footed manservant which he replaced by the side of his royal patron without incident.

Trump returned to address a series of domestic issues that continued to challenge all American communities.

In the last Congress, both parties came together to pass unprecedented legislation to confront the opioid crisis, a sweeping new farm bill, historic VA reforms. And after four decades of rejection, we passed VA Accountability so that we can finally terminate those who mistreat our wonderful veterans. And just weeks ago, both parties united for groundbreaking criminal justice reform. They said it couldn’t be done. My administration worked closely with members of both parties to sign the FIRST STEP Act into law. Big deal. It’s a big deal, the President boasted, The FIRST STEP Act gives non-violent offenders the chance to reenter society as productive, law-abiding citizens. Now states across the country are following our lead. America is a nation that believes in redemption.

From his jail cell, Paul Manafort now over 70 years old, watched and wondered whether and when the President might pardon and free him from jail. He had been sentenced to seven and half years in jail. Thankfully he was transferred to the Metropolitan Correctional facility in New York rather than remaining in the dreaded Rikers Island prison.

But while President Trump might pardon him if and when the impeachment fiasco was put to bed or perhaps right after the 2020 Presidential election next November, U S Attorney Cyrus Vance intended to keep Manafort behind bars, indicting the former campaign manager with crimes that couldn’t be pardoned by Trump–a myriad of mortgage and residential fraud crimes, as well as conspiracy, falsification of business records. Better to enjoy a bagel and lox. Manafort watched and sighed, thanking his God for small pleasures.

Michael Cohen watched from his cell too. However, he was less fortunate than Manafort even though his crimes and misdeeds were far less serious. Cohen had no hopes for a Presidential pardon, especially after Trump had called him a rat and even worse. In truth, he was a rat.

Ironically Michael Cohen was one of the few outside Trump’s immediate family, and the Secret Service who knew about Sharron Trump’s existence and true identity.

He turned his eyes away from the TV, and visualized the day he took an Uber to Doctor’s Hospital in New York, to congratulate Melania and Donald on the birth of their first child.

Cohen remembered the words that Trump whispered after being admitted to a waiting room of the hospital. Before arriving at the hospital Cohen stopped off at Flowers by Richard, one of New York’s top florists. He purchased a bouquet of white long-stemmed calla lilies to offer Trump and express his congratulations. Cohen expected some small acknowledgment of the expensive flowers he brought for Melania, but dismissing the gift Trump steered Cohen towards a private room in the hospital office and tossed the bouquet aside.

Michael was soon aware that fraternal twins, to be christened Barron and Sharron, were born on March 20, 2006. Melania was recovering in a suite of redecorated recovery rooms in the East wing sealed off to all but Trump, Melania’s ob-gyn, and several private nurses in attendance.

At first Michael was puzzled, and he took a few moments to recover his composure. He recalled Trump saying, Your lips are sealed, as always, Cohen. Then he explained the purpose of the lawyer’s very special assignment, a very unusual assignment, indeed.

Melania and I had twins. Trump whispered, even though no one else was in the room.

Michael was about to interrupt, to offer congratulations again, but Trump raised his hand to his mouth before Cohen could utter another word.

Trump said, Something really wild happened last night, Melania gave birth to two beautiful babies, a girl and a boy. But we want to keep the baby girl out of public view. I’ve had enough publicity and trouble keeping them away from my daughter, Ivanka. Trump continued to convey to Michael exactly what he had to do to protect the newborn child.

As Trump’s number one fixer, Cohen would have to find a way to create a phony birth certificate, then draw up fake adoption papers naming Melania’s older sister Ines and her husband as legal guardians. In turn, Ines would adopt the girl and henceforth Trump’s newborn daughter would be known as Sharron Knauss. Meanwhile, Sharron’s twin baby brother would be christened in church and given the birth name of Barron Trump.

The identity of little Sharron would be masked from the world. Melania would assure that both her sister and her parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, would always be close by and that Sharron would feel connected and loved as a member of the Trump family. Together they would nurture, love and protect Melania’s darling daughter, as well as her feisty little brother Barron.

The private recovery room that Melania had selected before the scheduled birthing, had a bay window offering a panoramic view. Resting comfortably in bed, nursing her two infant children, she could watch the flotilla of jagged ice as it meandered down the East River, silently drifting south to the Battery and beyond towards the churning sea and past the gaze of Lady Liberty.

When these very special Trump twins were born, Melania and Donald readily agreed on one thing, and they continued to hold this secret between them as long as they could. Barron’s birth would be made public; he would be protected from media glare as best as they could, but Sharron’s true identity would be shielded, at all costs.

Cohen turned his eyes back to the TV mounted on the concrete wall of his jail cell, he heard the President say, "Now Republicans and Democrats must join forces again to confront an urgent national crisis. Congress has 10 days left to pass a bill that will fund our government, protect our homeland, and secure our very dangerous southern border.

Now is the time for Congress to show the world that America is committed to ending illegal immigration and putting the ruthless coyotes, cartels, drug dealers, and human traffickers out of business. As we speak, large, organized caravans are on the march to the United States. We have just heard that Mexican cities, in order to remove the illegal immigrants from their communities, are getting trucks and buses to bring them up to our country in areas where there is little border protection. I have ordered another 3,750 troops to our southern border to prepare for this tremendous onslaught. This is a moral issue.

    BORDERING ON THE ABSURD

    AND ON THE FENCE

Agent George Piro had to laugh when he heard the President—for as Miami’s lead FBI Counter terrorism agent- he knew all too well of the real drug threats and the cartels who used bank and money market accounts when needed. Numbered bank accounts could be accessed with a few key strokes. Ruthless criminal gangsters of
