INTRODUCTION
With the assault on our Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq and the continuing struggle the Israelis are having with Palestinian Arab, we Christians are woefully ignorant of Islam and its intent.
I’m a retired USAF Senior Noncom and following my retirement became a defense contractor. I was first deployed to the Arabia peninsula in 1979 and continued with further deployments in 1980, 1981, and 1982. As a defense contractor, I returned to the region on a Foreign Military Sales contract as technical support. In this capacity, I worked closely with my Araba trainees and had many conversations about Islam versus Christian.
While I was working in Saudi Arabia, I had numerous discussions with the Muslims I worked with and their Imams. I like to call this period of my life as a study in Christian apologetics or a defense of Christian Faith.
I’m currently the pastor at East Fork Baptist Church. I have close to a decade of living and working in the heart of the Arabia peninsula, and what I’m about to relate to you comes from my conversation with Muslims and from my own research. If there are any Muslims reading this, I want you to know it is my deepest heartfelt desire that you turn from Islam and embrace Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Islam (surrender) came into existence approximately 613 years after the birth of Christ Jesus and was founded by Muhammad. Muhammad would retreat to a cave in the mountains for several nights of seclusion and prayer near his home city of Mecca, Arabia. At age 40, while in seclusion and prayer he was visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel squeezed Muhammad three times, telling him to read. Muhammad responded, I cannot read or recite
(Qur’an means recitation). Muhammad feared he had an encounter with an evil spirit or Jini
. This is where we get the word Genie. Muhammad then returned home and told his wife of this encounter. Accordingly Muhammad was deeply afraid and sought counsel which was provided by his wife’s cousin. The cousin was a Gnostic monk. Interestingly, all Biblical accounts of angelic visitation begin with the greeting of "fear
