We know the story behind - We of the Never Never, by Jeannie Gunn; and so it was in the time of the World Wars. Twenty five million had died as a result of the first and second world war. Families were scattered; children and identity, was made up such that names were lost, missing, unknown, intopilated and somewhat drawn from history, culture and probability.
If anything was certain the most important motive was survival. Survival of the fittest.
The Australia Red Cross in its work set out to give a sense of resolution. A sense of care, compassion and value to life.
They the women, nurses, workers endeavoured to put people together reaching out to who ever could help in this time of crisis.
And one of the nurses and a worker for the Red Cross in the adoption centre after World War 2 refering to Joyce Ellen Healey, I did not know her as she died in 1955. It is only
