The Early Morning Dawn Series is for God, my Father. To God be the glory. He is the true and righteous living God.
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Through the Holy Spirit, I received salvation, inspiration, encouragement, guidance, patience, love, and obedience. I wrote this book to glorify God.
To my parents, Reverend Frank C. Love Sr. and Katherine M. Love, who are sitting in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. When I was a child, you introduced me to God and his Word in the Holy Bible, parents reading from the bible from Genesis to Revelation. To God be the glory.
parents.jpgIntroduction
Dear readers, family, and friends, this is a story about a young boy named Glory Ian Hope. His stepdad, Ahab Jones, calls him Garby, which is short for garbage.
The situations he had experienced and endured could have happened to any person or animal at any time and in any place.
From an early age, Glory experienced the harsh side of life, the gruesome, hostile, and horrible dark side of negativity, and forces of evil in dark places. They tried to swallow him and his mother, Faith.
Glory was always bullied and intimidated by others. He felt ashamed guilty and lonely from the brutality, insults, and cruelty at the hands of his evil, unsteady, alcoholic stepdad. Ahab hated Glory so much and treated him like trash. Faith showed her son love and spent her days nourishing her beloved son.
Glory wasn’t welcome into Ahab’s heart any longer. Ahab tried to dishonor him whenever he could.
Ahab turned to an old friend called alcohol, and his moonshining brother Canaan who owned the Beer-N-Glass Bar in Eagle’s Streams.
Ahab blamed Faith, Glory, and everyone else—except himself—for his faults.
In his young years, Glory was brokenhearted, keeping it hidden from his mother and grandparents, when he saw his stepdad beating his mother nearly to death.
Ahab drank all day and all night with his brother, Canaan, and was always bullying and abusing his wife and stepson.
Glory wouldn’t have survived the hardships if not for his mother, his grandparents, and comfort and help from his mother’s lifelong friends, Amber and Paul, who loved him as dearly as their own son.
His grandparents were wise and knowledgeable, and they understood God’s righteousness and the truth of his Holy Word and his loving grace and mercy toward humanity. God comes in like a flood and intervenes.
Glory was afraid for his life for a time, but when he realized who he was in God, he became bolder and wasn’t afraid or ashamed any longer.
He stood up for himself, for his mother, for others, and for what is right. Through it all, Glory found inner strength, grace, and courage in the face of God. He stood up to the bullying kids, his stepdad, and his uncle.
He called upon a supernatural living God with a supernatural plan and a purpose for young Glory’s life and destiny. Glory has great favor of God.
No one should be bullied.
Chapter 1
Eagle’s Streams
Early spring has come to Eagle’s Streams, West Virginia, in 1951. The months breeze by. The colorful dogwood trees’ white, pink, and red buds have blossomed bountifully all throughout Eagle’s Streams. Across the meadows, many flowering buds, awakened from their winter cozy naps, call for spring to arise. Nature calls to each flower bud by name.
The yellow daffodils have ruffled tips. The sweet fragrance of pink, yellow, purple, and white pansies reaches up to touch the warm sky as they smile up on their Creator.
Along the meadows, beautiful red, yellow, orange, and white tulips lift their cups up to receive the cool mist of the morning dew. Along the ground, hundreds of tall morning glories creep and climb through the meadows and valleys toward Eagle’s Mountain, high beyond the secret place. Only the very few have seen and experienced this masterpiece and its breathtaking background. The landscape and beautiful scenery say, Sit back and watch me work my many wonders and the splendor of rainbows.
In Eagle’s Streams, nature really shows off its magnificence for all to see. Few are blessed and know there is a Higher Power who dwells beyond the clouds, watchful, caring, loving, righteous, and cheering us on.
For days, the rain pours nonstop. Once the rains stop, the effects are overwhelming and breathtaking. From town you can see huge waterfalls among the fog, falling eighty to one hundred feet from Eagle’s Mountain to fill the rivers, streams, and wells that flow through the valleys and meadows toward Eagle’s Streams’ farmlands, ranches, and parks. When these waters flow, everything is nourished and healed. Life is abundant. The healing waters flow from Eagle’s Mountain to fill the rivers, streams, and wells.
In Eagle’s Streams, 2,700 citizens live in towns, the countryside, mountains, or hillsides. People from faraway countries made up of many nations and tribes reside here. These are the times when people know their neighbors and enjoy close-knit lives. Everyone knows everyone else’s business, and love and her sisters—peace, joy, and hope—are not strangers.
High up in the mountains, there is a place called Eagle’s Mountain. Up there, beautiful American bald eagles live all year round, soaring, breeding, and caring for their young. Some make permanent homes there, and others visit every spring. This secret place is closed off and hidden to outsiders, but it became a haven for a boy called Garby.
Many other people pass through. Neighbors care about their neighbors’ well-being. They share each other’s burdens, praying and interceding with deliverance among families, church members, the sick, the destitute, and the sinners. No one is left out.
When one family eats dinner, they make sure their neighbors eat too. Not a single person goes without. They all work together and eat together.
Chapter 2
Ahab
Some people lived as they pleased, and one in particular lived as a heathen. Ahab Jones lived in the beautiful countryside with his first wife before she died. No one knows when she died, but there were many rumors about Ahab’s lifestyle and the way he had treated her. Some said he beat her to death during one of his drinking binges. No one knew what happened that night. Some said she just up and left Eagle’s Streams, and others said she was buried in a field of wildflowers and stones. While the rumors spread, Ahab stopped drinking publicly, and he sobered up a while. He behaved in a mannerly way.
Everyone had their watchful eyes on his every move. He tended to his own establishment and kept his land looking beautiful. In the mornings, he worked at Mr. Chang’s Chinese meat market, butchering cows and pigs that were raised, glazed, and smoked in Eagle’s Streams. All was well with him for the time being.
The storekeepers, Mr. and Mrs. Chang, lived next door in their three-story Victorian home and hoped for many children in the near future.
Chapter 3
Faith Ann Hope
Ahab often visited the town drugstore for first aid products to stock the shelves in case of emergencies at the meat market.
One bright afternoon, Ahab walked into the pharmacy to find that Mr. Brown had retired and gone home to rest with his wife, their children, and their grandchildren. He was happy for the rest of his life.
A young and beautiful woman took his position at the pharmacy. Her name was Faith Ann Hope. Ahab noticed a beautiful young woman approaching the front counter. He hit the customer’s bell several times to get her attention. He struck the bell so hard it hit the floor, broke into pieces, and rolled across the floor. Everyone looked up at Ahab.
Faith walked over to see what all the chaos was about.
Ahab couldn’t take his eyes off Faith. He could hardly believe his eyes. What a lovely sight. She was like a love song on a bright and cheerful morning.
Ahab was in love. She was very pleasing to his sore eyes and soul. Faith Ann Hope stood five feet five and weighed 132 pounds. She had a tan complexion, large wide eyes, a round nose, plump lips, perfect teeth, and a wide smile. Her hair was as coppery as a brand-new penny, falling below her shoulders in large curls. Her bangs hung just above her eyelashes, which seemed like they flowed every time she blinked her hazel eyes.
She had a long neck and small ears with tiny gray pearl earrings. A matching gray pearl necklace dropped around the bottom of her pink lace cardigan. Her gray lace skirt fell below her knees and covered her silk stockings. She wore three-inch gray leather heels. Faith Ann Hope, a beautiful, shapely woman, was blessed with a very small waist.
Ahab watched her every move of this beauty from a dream story. He could hardly open his mouth to place his order as she said, Good afternoon, sir. Can I help you? My name is Faith, and I will be handling your account today. Would you like to place an order?
Ahab said, Yes, ma’am. Here is a list. I will return later this afternoon to pick up the order.
Ahab handed her the long list with his calloused hands.
As she took the note, he noticed her long, slim fingers and wrists, her silver watch, and her beautiful eyes.
I will gladly call when your order is ready, sir,
Faith said.
Thank you,
said Ahab. Good afternoon.
he turned and walked down the long aisle toward the front door.
As he opened the door and closed it behind him, he turned and took one more glance at this beautiful dream of a woman. He also looked closely at his own image in the store window. He was five foot eleven and husky. He was unshaven. He pulled his cowboy hat down, pulled his overall pants up a notch, and smiled, thinking about the young woman. I could use some caring after myself: new clothes, a shave, a bath, and maybe a haircut.
Ahab’s hair had grown down his shoulders. He took off his hat, shook his long brown hair, placed his hat back on his head, and sauntered off.
After Faith had placed Ahab’s order, her friend Amber called to her, Faith, I saw the way that man looked at you. He’s in love with you. He couldn’t take his eyes off you—not even after he left the store. He continued to look through the front window. I would stay clear of him and have one of the male clerks handle his account. Mind what I say now ’cause he’s creepy-scary and scary-creepy.
Chapter 4
Faith Takes Caution of Ahab
Faith thought for a moment, took the account straight to the manager’s office, and turned it over to an experienced male clerk. I’d better be careful and get this situation solved before it becomes a problem and I have a stalker on my hands.
When Faith left the manager’s office, she was relieved that she had done the right thing. I don’t need a stalker in my life to spoil my carefree, best summer ever.
Faith gathered her thoughts and headed to Amber’s desk. Amber do you mind if I catch a ride with you this evening? I will not catch the bus at six. That man gave me the creeps. Once you told me about him staring at me, I don’t feel safe.
Amber looked at Faith and said, "Of course. For the rest of the summer, we will ride together. It will be safer for both of us.
Faith said, I will save money this summer and buy a car. It will be a lot easier and safer than standing or sitting at some wayward bus stop all alone in the open evening.
Good idea. You go, girl,
Amber replied. What do you have in mind?
Well, I saw a beige 1951 Packard 250. It has a convertible top, a red leather interior, and two doors. I will have enough to make a down payment this summer, and I know Papa G and Mother Hope will help with the payments.
Amber frowned. Are you sure they will allow you to have that much freedom? We are talking about a car.
Well, I heard them talking about a car for me, but I let on like I knew nothing.
Faith was raised in a Christian home with faith in God and his Word, God-fearing parents, and honor, morals, and values. She was loving, sincere, passionate, and caring. She was patient with those she was led to help in their time of need. She set out with God’s plan and his purpose for her life, walking on the straight and narrow road, with faith in her true and living God.
She had graduated from Eagle’s Streams High School with honors and a scholarship to nursing school. She had been so excited that her parents provided the funds to the college of her choice. They had planned and worked hard to prepare her and equip her for her journey. It was a good start for exploring new heights and adventures and territories. Faith was a blessing for everyone she came in contact with.
She was excited about becoming a nurse. She decided to work before attending college to earn extra money for her own car and any unexpected happenings. She did not want to struggle or worry about her daily necessities or Ahab Jones. Faith had everything planned out.
Chapter 5
Amber Plays Matchmaker
Friday night at the Hope house was quiet. Faith’s parents—Mother Hope and Papa G—were beginning their graying-hair season. They were free to travel since their precious daughter was growing into a lovely young woman. They decided to visit Mother Hope’s sister in Chicago to catch up on old times since they had not seen each other in two years. Mother Hope was excited to see her sister and other relatives since times were changing. Mother Hope would finally see her family again.
Faith thought, This will be the best summer ever, besides it is Friday—fun time. She was finishing up her work at the pharmacy, cleaning up and refilling prescriptions for Saturday morning.
The pharmacy doorbell rang, and Luke Tyler came in. He was one of the more mature and handsome young bachelors in Eagle’s Streams.
Faith looked up and was speechless. Her bottom lip dropped, and she couldn’t control her eyes or her speech.
Hello, miss. I am Luke Tyler, I am here to have a prescription filled. I am Ben Tyler’s nephew. I am here on his behalf.
Okay, sir. I will have it for you in just a few seconds. If you will take a seat, I will be right with you. Okay, sir?
Yes.
Faith said, Your second prescription will be ready when the next shipment arrives.
She filled his prescription. That will be $2.37.
Luke Tyler placed the ten-dollar bill in her hands, and Faith returned his change.
He said, Thank you.
Faith said, Goodbye—and please come again.
Amber rushed into the pharmacy and ran right into the handsome young bachelor.
Hey, miss, slow down. What’s the hurry? Let me know. I will come along and join the party,
Luke said with a smile.
Amber said, I am so sorry. I am just so excited. I wasn’t looking where I was going. Excuse me, sir. Aren’t you Ben Tyler’s nephew?
Yes, and you are?
Amber Howard.
How have you been? I haven’t seen you in quite a while. I have been away for quite some time now, but I am back. I am staying out at my uncle’s place since my parents passed last year. I am here to help my uncle out at his ranch this summer. I will attend college in the fall.
Amber looked deep into Luke’s eyes. I am so sorry about your loss, Luke. I can tell you loved your parents dearly.
Luke said, I loved them with all my heart. They were such loving parents and had strong Christian beliefs. I have come through that season in my life, and I dealt with it one measure at a time. I am now able to move on to the next stage of my life. My parents paid for my education to become a doctor. By coming to Eagle’s Streams, I can take a fresh look at things, clear my head, and relax before college.
That’s great,
Amber said. I will also be going to college in the fall.
She stood up straight and looked at Luke. In the back of her mind,
