    A Christmas Past

    A Christmas Time

    A Chrismas Morning

    A Christmas Day

    A Christmas Hour

    A Christmas Present

    Christian Hour

    Characters:

    Enoch

    Ife

    Abigail the Friend

    Baba

    Corinth

    Grace the Slave

    John the Christian

    Enoch rises.

Enoch: I am a man, yet, no sanctuary.

    I am.

    Yet, no pride,

    I am, yet, no joy.

    I believe.

    Yet, nothing.

    No song.

    No dancing.

    Dry.

    Thirsty.

    God is our slave.

    That day is here.

    Establishments destroyed,

    Belief is known.

    The old dead.

    The young is old.

Nations, drinks the blood of nation.

    Brother, eating own at will.

    Death.

The enemy is within the member.

    Salvation is a lie.

    Weeping comes from within.

    Pride.

    Truth.

    Certainty

    Hidden.

    Stolen.

    Ears, they have taken away.

    Speech, they have silenced.

    The mind is asleep.

    While lies are spoken

    This hour we know not.

    Death is the leader.

The enemy tells you a lie.

    Grope, grope along the wall,

    To steal your vision.

    At noon a stumbling block.

At midnight a Eucharistic mass is digested.

    Voodoo.

    Among the living,

    Death.

    Among the dead,

    Life.

    What use are my bones?

    What pride is a child?

    Buried in the ground.

    Swiftly run and decay.

The eclipse arises for a new dawn.

    No rest.

The pursuit of happiness with no justice.

    Yearning,

    The padlock locks the mind.

    We are one.

    No race.

    Hypocrisy.

    Each hour,

    We fight for freedom.

    Given at a cost.

    Enter Ife, holding a fruit.

    Ife: My dear.

    Enoch: Go.

    Ife: Alone again.

    Enoch: Painful.

Ife: Your eyes are gone, and when you lay, you rest like the dead. What war are you fighting?

    Enoch: I see the shedding.

Ife: If only I had strength.

Enoch: Listen, it’s the cry of midnight activities.

Short silence as Ife listens to the midnight whispers.

Ife: She will give birth today.

    Long silence

    I hear it.

    Voices of the night,

    Mocking.

    Frost, snow in the summer.

    Remember, remembering my youth.

    My offenses before me.

    The dragon tormenting with flames.

    My mother was sinful.

    Yet, she had pleasure.

    Flesh was granted.

    The ground beneath trembles.

    Imaginations of demons.

    She trembles.

    Clothed and no fertility.

    Bones ache.

    Dry bones.

    That’s war.

    Short pause

    Do you hear it Enoch?

    The dragon

    Playing.

    Love submitting to a nightmare.
