About this ebook

Womens Day! The Redeemer Church was standing-room only. Russell had every intention of sitting in the back pew, listening to the sermon and going home. Mother Jean, a senior usher, escorted him to the Overflow Room where he watched the worship service on a large television screen. She shared the amazing testimonies of six celebrants that evidenced the miraculous workings of God. Enthralled, Russell was drawn into his own transforming encounter with the Holy Spirita divine Rendezvous.
Everyone is touched in some way by the issues presented in Rendezvous; whether directly or indirectly, regardless of race, age, gender, sexual identity, spirituality or religious beliefs. To bury issues without addressing them is bondage. To confront and overcome them is freedom. Part Two-The Journal is a guided reflection that will take the reader on a journey of hope, healing, and transformationa personal Rendezvous.

At the beginning of the story, David sits alone in a café, waiting for someone. The night before at a club, David decided to throw caution to the wind and headed onto the dance floor by himself, moving and swaying to I Will Survive. While dancing away, he noticed a figure approaching, a very handsome man who told him his name was Jonathan. They quickly left the dance floor and chatted away at the bar and eventually returned to David's place for a night of sex. The next morning as Jonathan prepared to leave, David asked if they could see each other again, agreeing to meet later that evening at a small café."The Rendezvous" tells the pleasant story of David and Jonathon's relationship, from the awkward first meeting through the subtle ins and outs of getting to know one another. As their relationship grows, through agreeing on an open relationship to moving in together, everything goes right for the couple. And that's the problem with the story. I kept expecting some kind of conflict -- a small fight, perhaps Jonathon cheats on David (or vice versa), David's family not knowing he's gay -- anything to show the characters growing or having to fight for their relationship to continue. It needed just one obstacle to make the story more engaging, but that never surfaced. So instead of a good read, I'm calling it pleasant.

Resting in the Lord - September 2, 2017

I cherish our conversations about releasing the books that the Holy Spirit inspired us to write to lift, build and encourage God’s people. Your endearing smile is forever embedded in my heart.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

All praises to God for whispering creative thoughts into my ears, and the flow of the Holy Spirit that influenced me to pen what I heard.

My heart declares a very special "thank you" to some wonderful behind-the-scenes loved ones. I feel extremely blessed.

Chenelle Nixon, my friend, mentee and daughter in Christ: You were the first to hear the concept and story line of Rendezvous. You enthusiastically gave the thumbs-up and high-five response that ignited the start of another MJT (Michele Jackson Taylor) project.

L.G. Williams (Viceroy Entertainment): Your spiritual insight about the bigger picture of God’s plan for the finished work pushed me to get the job done.

Linda Boyce, my big sister: You’re the voice of wisdom and sound judgment. You listened to the first read while we enjoyed a balcony view of the tropical grounds and tranquil blue waters of Turks & Caicos—good times.

My family: Natural, spiritual and extended. Keeping it real, your unconditional love keeps me balanced. Hugs all around!

Rev. Tina Baker: Your courage to share your own journey in order to help others reminded me that our stories are not our own. They must be shared so that others can be encouraged and inspired to press on.

Marilyn A. Hunte (Bestie): My beloved sister and friend. You’ve taught me so much about celebrating life in these past few years alone, never mind the other 30+ years of our friendship. I celebrate you.

The Sisterhood of the Brooklyn Community Church: Celebrating Women’s Day 2017 with you was a privilege, joy, uplift to my spirit and confirmation to release Rendezvous. To God be the glory.
