    Preface

This is a treatise on discovering and developing one’s inner creative genius.

Your artistic life can begin NOW…not yesterday, not five years ago, but today!

I got my first tattoo when I turned 40. I figured I had thought about it quite enough, well, 22 years, to be exact.

Thing is, I hid it from my mom for TWO YEARS, as I knew, even at my age, I would catch a world of grief from her, as I am the oldest of three sons and supposedly the most responsible.

She said to me one day, I know about your tattoo, your brother Eddie ratted you out. You always wear short-sleeved t-shirts, rolled up, and what do you think after two years of long-sleeved shirts?

Well, that was the first of several, all now most prominently on display when I go see her.

This is a simple metaphor of beginning what one has always wanted to do, but just never got around to it.

Now, tattoos are easy (at least for some of us), but poetry, playing an instrument, writing a novel, short story or even a technical essay, starting some kind of athletic endeavor, such as a martial art, learning how to sing (pop, rock, blues, classical, jazz), finally becoming the yoga instructor you always wanted to be, taking your first acting class, learning how to box, etc., are all a bit more complicated, but very possible.

This book is not the obvious all it takes is the first step… that simply is much too apparent and in truth, more complicated than it may seem.

Rather, I will explain my concept of three and illustrate how this essentially works with any creative genre, and very quickly put, this means breaking down your artistic project into three basic and fundamental facets, or corners of a triangle, if you will. All three are continuously in touch with each other at all times (like the recycling symbol), so they will feed off one another. If your initial breakdown becomes four aspects, then one essential part is always out of touch with another and this eventually becomes a subtle hindrance in one’s development.

Of course, there are many features of any creative endeavor, but one will need to develop them as off-shoots of your original triangle, as I will present.

Quite a few of my personal clients are
