Test your knowledge with this interactive guide to the Tiger tank. Follow Sydney Speedy Smart and her collegiate group of confidantes as they empower your mind. Why walk when you’re ready to run?

What makes a legend? To most people, all tanks are the same. The same people don’t realize the wide variety of shapes, colors, and sizes they come in. Every tank is unique in its own way. The designs are based on self-evident equations of gun size, armor thickness, number of wheels, suspension type, weight, and engine and its location. Even after all that, each tank that is built to the same specifications will act differently—just like the men and women who operated them. It is as if each tank has its own personality. Shoot, move, defend—it can be done poorly, good, or, in rare cases, with extreme excellence.

The Tigers legend comes from actions and capabilities both in and out of combat. Here are a few examples: During the Battle of Kursk in July 1943, a single Tiger I managed to knock
