    Prologue

Intelligence, curiosity, adaptability, compassion, dream and hope are amongst the outstanding virtues of Human. Unfortunately during the Human history, these natural assets were increasingly marred by wide spread selfishness, greed and corruption at all levels. Such vitriolic living atmosphere was compounded by population explosion, uncontrolled environmental pollution, Human complacency to resolve problems fairly, abuse of freedom and various natural disasters. The resulting aggregates was global shortcoming of vital resources, confound and further deterioration of the Human social fabric, Humanity, morality and ethics. Succinctly, there became marked hiatus between Human being and being Human.

Attempting to alleviate the above noted disastrous trend, before a point of no return to normalcy is reached, Human was contempt to implement either of the following hard choices:

    (1)  Universally and collectively acquire unbiased practical understanding of root causes for the above noted addle. Upon which, practical strategies could be devised and decisively implemented towards establishing a Globally disciplined framework to achieve safe, secure, fair and equitable living conditions for all the inhabitants; or

    (2)  Short-sightedly eschew to resolve the above noted confounds for manipulative and instable gains. Thus continuing with of the same centuries old failing stoic trends, which would lead to more upheavals. Such practices will eventually result to either or both of (a) Gradual extinction of all the inhabitants on the Earth; or (b) Human succumb to undertaking the corrective challenges and start serious embarkation from the devastated Planet Earth, for the sake of survival and preserving Humanity.

This novel is about disastrous stricken Human, who became disdainfully loathed in their living conditions on the Earth. With perdition, some of them have sardonically decided to devise ways for undertaking a highly risky journey to a far reaching and potentially habitable Earth like Planet outside our Solar System. It elaborates on encounters with unexpected life forms and conditions. These resulted to thrilling consequences. To survive, the migrants had to face unforeseen situations, adopt and assimilate.

    Introduction

It is the beginning of 22nd Century. Looking back into the 21st Century, the Human race has advanced to high levels in the fields of computer, electronics, robotics, medicine, sciences and technology. This paved the way to invent artificial Human parts, artificial intelligences, capable robots to help in most industrial, agricultural and daily domestic functions and making life easier. Human became capable to diagnosing and cure lots of biological and psychological diseases which resulted to improved longevity. Fields such as biomechanics and biotechnology was predominant and extensively used to replace most Human extremities and some of the vital internal organs with success. However, such replacements was not as good and wholesome in functionality and appearances as that of the natural original body. Moreover, excel in the fields of social sciences, ethics and Humanity was much to be desired.

During the 21st Century, Human could travel in space at supersonic speeds well exceeding ten times that of sound (which is on average about 1,242 Kilometers per hour). This ability was achieved by designing and utilization of non-movable, efficient engine parts, exotic fuel mixtures and their delivery systems to the engine. Human had numerous close visits and in depth exploration of all the Planets in our Solar System. A handful of large rocky asteroids, meteorites and comets were landed on and some of their minerals exploited. The Moon and Mars were colonized. Moreover, few of other rocky Moons around the Neptune and Uranus was landed on for the purposes of exploration, exploitation and eventual habitation. It was found that these celestial bodies was not easily and economically sustainable or hospitable for prolonged Human habitation, unlike potentially thought. However, they were proved to serve as footholds, refuelling, storing spare parts, repairs and takeoff platforms for longer space voyages proceeding to other Planets and Moons within our Solar System.

Despite all the scientific and technological advancements, the Earth was becoming over populated, polluted and depleted of essential resources. Even fresh water became scares to cater for the accelerating population explosion. For various reasons, such as personal conflict of interests, selfishness, power mongering and greed, Human were short-sightedly stoic to collectively and cooperatively solve these worldwide acute problems. We Human became immersed in perdition, reluctant to face heads on the challenges of tolerance, cooperation with each other, undertake unbiased research and to improve our capabilities to compensate for the above noted shortcomings. Our resolve were foible to vehemently focussing on commercial exploration and exploitation of deepest parts of the Earths’ rich oceans and deep into the Earths’ crust. This undesirable situation was compounded by uncontrollable natural disasters, cyclic and manmade global warming. Additionally, historical conflict of interests between various races, faiths, creeds, tribes, cults and other groups of people were continually adding fuel to this exasperating, deepening and widespread destruction. The corollaries was a fast disparaging Earth with deep seated frictions between religious and political divides; haves and have not’s. These pervasive conditions were more profound for people living in less advanced geographical locations on the Globe. Such intransigence had gradually lead to social unrest; deterioration of ethics and morality. Random wars, small and large scale lootings; sabotages, assaults and murders was posing variety of dangers for the inhabitants. Drugs and alcohol addiction, which was prevalent during the 20th and 21st Centuries, was increasingly becoming worse. This unsafe, discomforting and obfuscation situation was magnified by war mongering amongst groups of people and countries for land annexation and control of what was left of the natural resources, including the scares fresh water. Several times, the Earth became close to the brink of devastating Third World War, which would have undoubtedly unleashed the nuclear, biological and chemical arsenals of some countries involved. If that would have happened, the Earth and its inhabitants would have been obliterated. Such appalling rankle, unsafe and uncivilized conditions degraded the social fabric in the weakening Humanity to reach a point of no return. Succinctly, there became distinct differences between Human being and being Human. Hence, life on the Earth for vast majority of Human was becoming disdainfully unpleasant, undesirable and unbearable. It reached a point that most people were opting to dissociate themselves from rottenness of their society and opt to live in segregation.

As a remedy to all or most of the above noted problems, few wise, tolerant and unbiased astronomers, scientists, technologists and social researchers around the world have gathered to deliberate for finding common grounds and solutions. They came to the conclusion that for the sake of preserving the Human life and uplifting the disparaged Humanity, amongst other measures, they must vehemently explore the possibility of gradual migration to other Planets for the purpose of permanently living out of this disparaging world.

    Chapter 1

    Risky tasks

Direct and indirect exploration on other celestial bodies within our Solar System (which has an average diameter of 11.8 Billion Kilometers, about 0.001 light year), was ongoing for many centuries. These searches was primarily to find out: (a) How our Solar System was formed and life on the Earth evolved; (b) Shed greater light on the formation and evolution of other Planets; and (c) To find possibility of life and specifically sustainable life for Human on the other Planets or Moons in our Solar System. Research and trials have revealed that none of the near Earth celestial bodies were sustainable for permanent Human habitation, let alone to compensate for and possibly replace the degrading Earth. Diligent continuation of search to find large enough rocky and resourceful Planets or Moons which could support Human life, lead the curious astronomers and scientists to extend their attention to outside our Solar System. They had to focus on the other Solar Systems within our vast Milky Way Galaxy (having an average diameter of 932,500 Trillion Kilometers, about 100,000 light years), while staying far away from its centrally located suctioning supper gravity Black Hole (of about 320 Million Kilometers diameter, about 4 Millions times as massive as our Sun). This Black Hole happens to lies at a distance of about 279,750 Trillion Kilometers, about 30,000 light years from the Earth.

For those who may not comprehend vastness of the scale used herein in comparison with our Planet Earth, it is important to note that our Milky Way Galaxy by itself comprises of about 200 Billions small and large Star Systems. Yet this vast Galaxy is just one of the many Billions of far reaching smaller and larger Galaxies in the expanding Universe.

Therefore, the scientists felt certain to expect that there may be near Earthly living conditions, so called Goldie- like zones, somewhere within our Milky Way Galaxy. They were mindful that such desirable Earth like celestial body had to contain water, breathable atmosphere and other biological or mineral ingredients to support long term Human habitation. In this case, there may also be possibility of the Human to encounter unknown life forms, some which may not be congenial to us. However, due to lack of proven information, they were sceptical on presence of intelligent life in such worlds. Hence, astronomers, scientists, technologists and others have intensified their high stake, costly and rare international efforts trying to advance their knowledge and experiences towards finding that illusive and desirable Earthly living conditions, somewhere within the Milky Way Galaxy. They unrelentingly embarked on labyrinth research exploring and analyzing remote outer space signals, from far reaching objects which were observed or received via their advanced probes, satellites, space stations and clusters of ground stationed supper antenna systems.

Such curiosity, devotion and diligence yielded some positive results. Out of many rocky Planets orbiting various stars in our Milky Way Galaxy, few were found which could have water and their atmosphere contained hydrogen, oxygen, methane, nitrogen and biological synthesis. These ingredients was important for potential support for Human life. These Planets were considered to be potentially more habitable than the various atmosphere less rocky Moons and Mars in our Solar System. However, these desirable findings were many light years from the Earth. Due to their excessive distance from us and yet shortcomings in our advanced technology, the data gathered on them was not comprehensive or accurate enough and was considered academic, at the time. To ascertain habitability of these potential candidates, we had to undertake close remote observation and direct ground exploration on these potentially habitable celestial bodies. Therefore, plans for sending unmanned probes around them and impacting projectiles onto them was considered prerequisite to short list the most habitable ones. So that detailed exploration could be facilitated to ascertain comprehensive knowledge on the candidates, before a final decision could be made for consequent Human migration, ensuring their safety, survival and long term habitation. Moreover for the Human to reach and land on such far reaching space objects in a travel time of less than one generation, necessitated having a spaceship capable of travel at extremely high speeds approaching or equalling the speed of light, which was an unbelievable speed of about 1,079 Million Kilometres per hour. Such desirable lightning speed vehicle necessitated also to have adequate energy generation, manoeuvring capabilities and be self-contained to support Human life during the very long voyage. The science and technology of building spaceships which could travel approaching the speed of light for Human transport system was mind boggling and not then developed. Such space vehicle had also to meet the required safety, Human support systems, physical and mechanical demands. To achieve turning such dream into reality necessitated modifying and updating the laws of physics, transport phenomenon and technology in addition to conditioning voyaging Human’s biological capabilities to enable safe travel and feeding at around the speed of light!

Eventually, necessity prompted collaborative international efforts and innovation. In order to enable Human to land safely on an outer space far reaching rocky Planet, outside our Solar System, the scientists, technologists and other interested groups have identified 9 main groups of interrelated challenging problems, amongst others. They focused their attention and tenacious research on concurrently solving the envisaged problems which would pave the way to realize their longing dream. These main interrelated challenges were:

1-  To find a long term habitable rocky Planet as close a distance to the Earth as possible – Focused and intensified search has found few Earth like candidates within our Milky Way Galaxy and in two of our closest neighbouring Galaxies (called Alpha Century and Andromeda) located about 39,165 Billion Kilometers (around 4.2 light years) from our Sun. Each of the rocky Planets found in these far reaching Galaxies was observed to be orbiting their Suns in various formations. Some of them happened to be in different or peculiar orientation compared to our Solar System. Each of these Planets had merits and demerits for Human travel and habitation.

After many years of research and analysis, the astronomers and scientists luckily detected a rocky Planet within our Milky Way Galaxy. It was located at a varying distance of about 13 to 15 Billion Kilometer (approximately 1.4 to 1.6 light years) from the Earth. It was revolving between two Binary Suns. These Suns was of unequal sizes and called SM01 and SM02. They called the Planet SMS14. The Binary Suns happened to have a distance of about 300 Million Kilometers from each other in such a way that they captured the Planet SMS14, at a distance of about 130 to 150 Million Kilometers between them. With such an unusual occurrence, the Planet SMS14 was revolving on its axis; but was not orbiting any of its Binary Suns. This was the main reason that it was not initially possible for the astronomers to detect existence of this Planet by the conventional techniques, which required a Planet to pass in front of its Sun to deem the Suns’ light or get too close to its Sun to make it wobble a little, thus be detected by observing instruments. No other Planet was seen associated with this Binary System. Both of these Suns was found to be smaller than the Sun in our Solar System. Further observations and research indicated that the Planet SMS14 happened to be in the habitable zone of the above noted Binary Suns and closest to the Earth amongst all the other Planets under consideration. Hence, all the focus was given on this Planet, making sure if it is suitable for Human habitation, before a comprehensive migration plan is devised for.

Successive deployment of unmanned probes around the Planet SMS14 and exploratory impacts to its surface revealed that this Planet was about 1.5 times the size and 1.2 times the mass of our Earth. It has a stronger magnetic field than the Earth and 2,800 Kilometres thick atmosphere. The main constituents of its atmosphere was found to average 20% oxygen, 73% nitrogen, 3% water vapour, 0.5% carbon dioxide and 3.5% other gasses including methane. Moreover, the Planet happened to contain ample surface and underground liquid and frozen water. These findings was very encouraging. The Planet SMS14 was found to rotating on its axis, once every 40 Earth hours while keeping its uncharacteristic and peculiar position between its Binary Suns.

2-  To revolutionize the science and technology for supper speed Human transportation systems in deep space - For economical and technological reasons, a plan was made to expand our low gravity Moon base so that it becomes capable of assembling a specially designed, large enough interstellar spaceship. The initially planned 8 astronauts would then fly to the Moon on conventional vehicles. They would join with assembled and tested 3 advanced robots. Aboard the interstellar spaceship which was well stored with food, water, medical necessities, energy fuels and spare parts. This team would then take off with such heavy loads from the Moon to the Planet SMS14. The aim was travelling safely in the space at speeds nearing that of light. This seemingly impossible task was achieved by applying the phenomenon of Weyl Fermion particles. These particles was found to have negligible mass, can move extremely fast, without colliding with each other, unlike the conventional electrons. It was also found that the Weyl Fermion particles produce less frictional heat in transmission than the electrons. Thus they are much more efficient than the electrons used in the commercial electronics and modern power engines. This adoption and other advanced utilization changed the laws of physics, transport and transmission phenomenon as we knew in the beginning of 21st Century. Such achievement was extended to making innovative supper light but strong alloys to withstand physical and mechanical stress variations in the space, possible minor impact of solid objects floating in the space, long term radiation in the space, changes in the global atmosphere of the target Planet, its gravitational effects, landing site atmospheric pressure and temperature changes. Also, the scientists and technologists had to make unconventional highly efficient long lasting fuels, supper powerful rocket engines and boosters with no moving parts for this highly advanced spaceship. All the above noted features had to be compact, durable and self-contained. In these efforts, the focuses was to make sure that such interstellar space vehicle could accommodate (A) 11 passengers, be assembled and tested on the Moon; (B) Could carry the required supplies, spare parts, food, water, medical necessities, energy source, sleeping quarters, repair and maintenance equipment, etc for a 2 years journey and prolonged living on the target Planet; (C) Take off from the Moon successfully, manoeuvre in the space at high speeds as needed and slow down the spaceship to circle the Planet SMS14 at an appropriate orbit for a final direct Human observation, before making their final decision for a safe and resourceful landing site; (D) Land safely on the Planet at the selected location; and (E) After the landing, prepare the self-contained spaceship, as a safe and temporary compact residence for a prolonged period until a more congenial and suitable accommodation is sought.

The scientists and technologists found out, by theoretical research, computer simulations and experimental results, that combining ion plasma thrusters, antimatter engines, nuclear energy and subatomic particle energy would provide supper high energy system for the spaceship to be able to exceed over 100 times the speed of sound.
