About this ebook

Narendra Damodardas Modi stands for hope. Hope for billions of Indians. Love him, Hate him, NaMo is Indias last chance. His story fascinates almost every community in India and many abroad. His ever growing huge fan following has made him the most-searched political personality on Google in 2014. While several books have already been written about the Man, very few have been written about him by a true- fan, one of several Millions across the world. This honest endeavor written in totally non-controversial style, on his struggle of early years, rise as a CM of Gujarat and his stupendous success over a 13 year stint, his magnanimous election campaign to lead India to an almost single handedly historic verdict to his becoming Indias fifteenth Prime Minister is purely directed at his fans to enjoy the wonderful moments of their truest Leader. His rise hasnt been a fairy tale story to say the least. Its been an uphill struggle, battling his way to the top, fighting several battles both within and outside including his media love-hate in India and abroad. NaMo has only one way forward, to take India to a glorious future and convert his multi Trillion-dollar dream of India into a reality.

The book contains an interesting foreward by Shantanu Guha Ray, a Wharton-trained business journalist who scooped the Coal Scam in 2011 and won many national and international awards for a series of investigations.

A unique Chapter on Shri Modis visit to Siachen with some rarely-seen visuals will form part of the Visual Delight for all and one. Several images of Shri Modi have been included in the Book. Enjoy reading NaMo A Name, A Cult. A Visual Delight.

Author

Aroop Datta

The Author writes, “I knew the book had to be different or rather unique, either in its content or in its design, to be a ‘stand-out’ among several of the books written on Shri Modi.” With the theme “Visual Delight” (having more than one hundred carefully chosen images), designed as a “Coffee Table Book”, this surely is a “Collectors’ Item”, a first of its kind, on Shri Modi. The Author has written this Book purely as one of his several million passionate Fan, for a Leader who inspires many in India and the World. The Book contains every detail of a new India that is the age of “NAMO-DITVA”, for every Fan who wants to know about their cherished Leader, now a fast ever-growing “cult” personality. To add to the ‘novelty’ factor, each Chapter starts with an inspiring NaMo “quote”. The numerous visuals and several illustrations & charts bring about the many moods of Man of the Moment. The book ends with the chapter “And Finally a NaMo Delight in Pictorial”, where several of his moods have been captured along with very interesting ‘tit-bits’ about his personality. The e-book version (colored) along with the paperback (both black and white and colored) and hardback (black and white) editions will be widely available across India and worldwide at top online resellers and many more. I have seen poverty very closely. I have lived in poverty. As a child, my entire childhood was steeped in poverty. For me, poverty, in a way, was the first inspiration of my life, a commitment to do something for the poor. I decided that I would not live for myself but would live for others and work for them. My experience of growing up in poverty deeply impacted my childhood. Then, at the age of 12 or 13, I started reading the works of Swami Vivekananda. That gave me courage and a vision, it sharpened and deepened my sensitivities and gave me a new perspective and a direction in life. At the age of 15 or 16, I decided to dedicate myself to others and till date I am continuing to follow that decision.

    A Special Foreword

    By Shantanu Guha Ray

    An Eye for Detail

At a July 2012 launch of a coffee table book on Gujarat’s wildlife, Narendra Modi, then a Chief Minister and an outsider to New Delhi, joked to a packed house how Central funds always dried up for Asiatic lions (only found in Gujarat) but flowed in plenty for the tiger, India’s national animal. Modi joked that probably the lions, numbering a little over four hundred, were communal (like him), as compared to India’s secular tigers happy with a Central grant of Rs 200 crore. The crowd loved the dig.

Seconds later, Modi shifted tracks to identify a handful of images to very quickly explain his deep understanding of the biology of animals and psychology of the inspiring world of the wildlife cameraman, Sanat Shodhan—his astonishing adventures and encounters, insights, and emotions.

Almost three years have passed since that event took place in Ahmedabad. Modi is now India’s Prime Minister and no longer an outsider to the Indian capital, having led the right of center Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to national power after a decade in wilderness. And he still retains an eye for detail.

He knows modern politicians must rely on their images to carry the day; the ground rules were set over five decades ago in Washington that televised the 1960 debate between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

The Prime Minister’s office now resembles a fortress. Journalists often lament the loss of their unfettered access to India’s most powerful corridor. They are hence grappling with Modi’s signature style statement and picking up the crumbs to know his way of visual storytelling and whether the Prime Minister has a special team of camerapersons who constantly work on his images. No wonder that Delhi’s gossip circuits are constantly buzzing on the Prime Minister’s deft handling of images in print and on television.

Critics have found a unique parallel between Indira Gandhi and Modi, both extremely adept than ever at using images to solicit knee-jerk reactions from people (read voters), probably to maintain a sense of defiance vital for a national leader. Gandhi knew a storehouse of rousing images were vital to suggest her greatness to India.

Modi has a similar belief. He knows that in politics, image can be just as important as substance. It helps sell the bottom line, which is that he is the only leader standing at the pinnacle of Indian politics who knows how to tighten the nuts and bolts of a battered economy and ensure better governance. The Prime Minister needs images to sell his billion-dollar dream to Indians.
