What is the reason darkness is feared?
Why does it draw out our worst nightmares?
Perhaps it is impossible to grasp that answer now.
While deeply consumed within darkness . . .
But, for a certainty,
Back then,
So many believed in the light,
It was said, light will always triumph over darkness.
Yet even then,
Darkness continues to exist,
Bewildering the people for many years,
Where light shines, darkness lurks nearby . . .
Prologue
The Tower of Fate
IN A DISTANT land there were many tales portraying myths and magic. One tale refers to the classic battle between light and darkness. It tells of light as the side of truth and justice. The same tale depicts darkness as the side of evil and corruption. The fate of everything rested on the balance between light and darkness.
Many centuries ago during the magic era foretells the beginning of this story. Several records portray a legendary tower that kept the balance of all magic in perfect harmony. The creator was unknown and presumed to be a god. It stood over a hundred stories high with several false doorways. The structure was that of a wide spiral tower with long stair cases leading to the primary floor. Several clouds covered the top of the tower making it invisible to all and its island nearly surrounded by jagged rocks. It was said to have been able to absorb massive amounts of mana. Mana is referred to as the energy that manipulates the elements to create magic. The tower has been depicted in hidden records as the stairway to the ancient gods. Ancient gods granted the inhabitants of Terrene the ability to manipulate mana.
Terrene was a vast land of Forests, Deserts, Mountains and Artic areas. It was home to many races. Many humans inhabited the desert cities. Elves resided in the lush green forest areas living with nature. The tall mountains were inhabited by demons and dragons. Every race had a number of people skilled with mana manipulation. Yet with the usage of mana available to certain races there were those that abused its power. Thus came the era of mana for those able to use the

There were races that exceled in the manipulation of mana such as azurian, elves, demon lords and drascens. These races created a place of teaching called the Circle of Magi for those born with the gift of magic. Different races from across the world enrolled with the Circle of Magi.
The Elemental War
Many of the students became court wizards, knights and one obtained the status of king. Yet in turn the gift soon became a tool for war as two races fought to rule the lands. As the years had passed Terrene’s lands did not survive due to a war that engulfed a large portion of the world. As a result of the war the tower of fate had become a desolate ruin. Many books and scrollsrefer to it as the Elemental War. This war took place a century ago and resulted in the tower becoming a desolate ruin for fighting. There were two main races fighting for rule the humans and demons. While Elves and Dragons were supporting the side they allied with. It had been a terrible time in which many lives were lost.
The war had waged on for nearly a year until both leaders came to a conclusion. They each would choose a warrior to represent their race and decide who shall inhabit the lands. The humans chose a Templar named Richard Saigard from the vast deserts of Flamere. He wore silver armor that shined brilliantly and wielded a sword and shield that was magically enchanted with earth mana. His blonde hair seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. Richard was the general of a unit led by Flamere known for his courage.
The demons chose a Dark Conjurer named Zarathos whose name was feared throughout Makai. He wore a black robe that had demonic symbols written on the edges. The horns on his head seem to slightly curve inward. His staff had been made from the bark of a tree grown only in Makai and was magically enchanted with flame mana. Both fighters knew the burden they would be carrying for this battle.
Those surrounding the two chosen could feel the tension rising within the area. Zarathos smirked with confidence as to belittle Richard. He drove his staff into the ground then revealed a book. It had creases near the edges with a slight eroded color. Many mages, sorcerers and wizards alike refer to the book as a grimoire. He held the book high to proclaim an early victory. Richard unsheathed his sword and mounted the shield. He prepared a combat ready stance for mana based attacks. Zarathos commenced the battle with a volley of fireballs. Many fireballs were deflected by Richard’s shield. His shield was magically enchanted to repel most mana based attacks. The book began to levitate as Zarathos invoked a spell to conjure a blade
